<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fangm</b></div><div>Murray had better stats than either of their current goalies. He comes in at a $3.5M cap hit which detroit can afford and they pickup a 1st that can be flipped at the deadline if they are in contention or kept if they are out of it.
Robertson is also a B+ prospect, and ranks above Soderblom on every single prospect ranking.</div></div>
Sure when healty and not is not often. Robertson is a injury waiting to happen like Murray and that 1st is probably 30, 31 or 32. No value and Soderblom is not moving until Wings find out what they have.

Detroit declines quite easily. Soderblom has only increased in value, and it would make no sense to move on from a player who is projecting to be a gem with where Detroit currently sits.

Take out Soderblom and the retention and sure. Absolutely zero reason for Detroit to do this.

That’s a first round exit defense and goaltending. It’s been proven year after year with the Leafs you can’t build teams that top heavy

Why would Seattle move down 6 spots for that? No way the Kracken accept that. They'll get a far better player at 3 oa than at 9 oa that's for sure.

I doubt Seattle would take that. Theyve got so much quantity as it is, better off just taking BPA at 4th overall. Numbers show the drop off in potential star talent is pretty stark even from 4th to 9th

Getting greedy on that Schmidt trade. He's worth a 3rd straight up. Not saying that would be a deal breaker, but he wouldn't even be our top choice and we could probably get a better option for less.

It would turn into a war like the one between Montreal and Carolina over Aho and Kotkaniemi.
Nobody would win.</div></div>
Leafs are in no position to get into an OS war lol. I think a team could easily OS Liljegren at the 3rd pick range.

Wilson = Nylander
So where is the 2 1st round picks difference?

LMAO Michael Rasmussen is 100% protected by Detroit. Ryan Suter isn't waiving his NMC to be taken by an Expansion Team. And fat chance of either Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Alex Ovechkin signing those lowball offers with the Kraken. FYI what part of you can't retain on players for expansion draft purposes don't you understand? Ron Francis has to take those players at full value there's no retention aloud for the expansion draft.

Detroit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dca919</b></div><div>I think Stevie is looking at lesser term on Mantha (3 years) and the benefit to him is he becomes an UFA around his 29th birthday (he still could be 28 depending on season ending date) with flat caps era in the past (hopefully). The benefit to the Wings on a shorter deals is continued injuries derailing career and not buying UFA years in a flat cap world. So I expect 2-3 year deal for him. Read something on the Athletic about this today.
As far as depth chart: I think they are going to try Fabbri at that 2nd line center (Yzerman presser said so--but that was before adding Namestnikov). I expect Namestnikov on the 3rd line LW. Filppula will be that 3rd C (Namestnikov & Fabbri FO% lags Filppula's by my memory). Gagner's going to be on that 3rd line too. Svechnikov seems like a 4th liner (or traded if he was going to get waived).
<strong>You're missing Timashov </strong>(he was also qualified--he might be the LW on the 4th line instead of Svech): I think Nielsen might be buried in the AHL because of these options.
All those guys overseas (that are eligible to return) will depend on the AHL playing a season or not. If not, I think they stay overseas too.</div></div>
This is what drives me nuts with teams sending bottom six players to Detroit. I completely forgot Timashov and we don’t really have space given all I signed was Mo and Bert. I’d also like to see Smith on the fourth line. I think Filppula, Fabbri, and Namestsnikov are pretty interchangeable so where they settle will determine our bottom nine.
With Bert’s contract I was lazy and just did Toffoli’s and for Mo I heard rumors he wants a short term which is fine. Hopefully it motivates him and if we aren’t turning it around quick enough then we could always trade him.
I’m assuming your lineup would be something like
B - L - M
Zadina - Fabbri - Ryan
Names - Flip - Gagner
Svech/Timashov - Glendening - Helm
