The Wright Way 4 Laffy
Lafreniere isn't getting moved for 2 pending UFAs and a 2nd.
And yeah for the billionth time, Wright for Horvat isn't happening. Nor do i see Horvat extending long term with Seattle when it's been reported that he wants to pay close to home.

yeah sure if you don't resign K'Andre Miller, Filip Chytil they do ;)
Chytil is up for around 4 mil. K'A Miller I'm guessing around 5 M. and then another 6.5 for Kuz, great but what about the rest of the line up? :D

Keep Kreider/Mika/Kakko together, and then a 3rd line centered by Goodrow between Laffy and Othmann. Why can't Trocheck be the solution to the RW problem on the 2nd line?</div></div>
I’m not crazy about Goodrow at 3c- especially with those guys. Trocheck at 2RW next to Chytil does check a few boxes- as long as the lack of chemistry between him and Panarin doesn’t continue. My preference here would be to keep Goodrow on 4th line and pick up a 3c…there should be some relatively cheap options available after the season. Mittelstadt? Jake Evans? Just to name a few.

It is not a CUP contending team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AG_sweden</b></div><div>I'm just not sure how they going to make that happen? I agree rental is a waste of assets pretty much. The core guys are just a point per game, they are not being moved and our 1st overall and our 2nd overall are not good enough to cover for that.
Paying Chytil about 4 M to be 3rd center, while having nothing to play with isn't going to help him one bit...
Trocheck is a great player but a bad signing.
They should have not signed him and have the cap space and roster space to keep growing the youth.
Really sad and unfortunate.</div></div>
Nothing wrong with Chytil around 4M…where he slots in- should be between Panarin and Krav. While Trocheck slots between Kreider and Gaut (maybe Vesey). Then depending how guys like Othmann and Cuylle develop- maybe either (or another prospect) gets a crack.
Letting Chytil go would be regretted way more than Buch…The organization is light on C prospects…and good young centers are really hard to get- yet so essential to success. If the team has a problem getting LaF, Miller, and Chytil signed- then they have to bite the bullet and move a veteran (or 2)- even if they have to eat salary to move.

It is not a CUP contending team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>delneggs</b></div><div>Boston is ripping up the entire league this year, so losing to them isn't that big a deal. The cup is theirs to lose IMO. That's another reason the Rangers should not make any stupid rental trades this year and focus on getting better for the next few seasons.</div></div>
For sure wouldn’t get too crazy about losing to BOS….not yet ready to concede the Cup to them- but it sure does look like their year. That said…and the fact that the core of their team isn’t young….will be interested to see how aggressive they are as far as going all in at TDL. For NYR I can sense a splash move at the TDL….but reality is even adding an expensive rental, NYR are not on the same level as CAR, BOS, TOR, or a few others out west. So not having both 1st round picks going into the draft they will regret in a big way as soon as this summer. And going forward they need to make whatever moves necessary to extend Chytil, LaF, and Miller. And unless they get good capital back- should also keep Gaut and Krav.

More Messy than Messier Drop trades in the comments
I never understood all the love for Rutherford when he was hired. And as you suggest had authority in ALL personal decisions.
Kinda reminds of the disastrous situation when the Leafs anointed Brian "The Brain" Burke, who had full authority. Yeah he talked really good on TV, but didn't do any effort into his job as President or GM of the club.
The trouble (in any business), when poor hirings are made, the people who hired them don't want to fire them either. It makes the the "hiring party" seem incompetent.
I'll disagree with on Kuzmenko. He should be traded for the best return. No reason to think he would return to the Canucks next season.

Othmann is untouchable. Also Meier will come for pennies on the dollar given his on going contract feud with SJ. Also we do not need Meier... It would be nice to get him, but not at that price (we have no hope of resigning him). We could get Kane for a lot cheaper than that...

He is RFA come July- so they could recoup some value….but still not the way they should be looking to go. This year TDL should really be about under the radar deals to improve depth…and add a mid 6 RW only if a deal is there that doesn’t cost more than they got back in the Zuc deal.

Offers for a discounted Miller
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>delneggs</b></div><div>Ok, so what do we know? The Rangers traded him rather than pay him largely because of his attitude issues (as reported by multiple sources), TB traded him rather than pay him after less than 2 seasons, and in Vancouver he recently had words with Shenn after Shenn called him out for dogging it on the ice and Garland had to get between them, and he also screamed at Delia during a game and then acts like a child when asked about it by the press. Nice attitude for an assistant captain. Look the other way all you want, but his attitude has always been his problem and now the Canucks are stuck with it for 7 years.</div></div>
You're missing the best part of the Delia thing. Boudreau said he was waiving him to stay in the net. So he berates a 3rd string goalie for doing as the coach was telling him to do. That's not cancerous?
Edit Buried the lead there my man.

If I'm the Canucks and Drury is calling on Kuzmenko, the ask is Schneider. Say Schenn and Kuzmenko for Schneider.</div></div>
Contrary to popular belief, not every single solitary trade between the Rangers and Canucks needs to have Schneider included in it.
If JT Miller....who had 9 years of experience...and was in the middle of a 99 point campaign...wouldn't be considered for Schneider...then Kuzmenko shouldn't be considered either.

Boston isn't giving up both Lysell and Lohrei for a 3 month rental in Bo Horvat. And Boston won't be able to afford both Pastrnak and Horvat long term. Reportedly Pasta wants $12 million per and Horvat will get at least $8.5 million per long term.
The only part that's realistic on the Brock Boeser trade is the 2023 5th round pick. Because that's all he's worth.

Maybe they will scoff at the trade because of the $8mx8 extension based on the cap hell they are in? Almost $15mil in dead cap space the next two seasons, and only 13 players signed for next year with $16.3 million to fill out the roster, so sure. give half that to 1 player.</div></div>
And giving that said player then screws the rest of the cap because they no longer have the cap space to extend Boldy, Addison, and Gustavsson.
It's like people can no longer under stand other points of view besides their own. 🙄

With the team playing as well as they did in the 2nd half of the season and Miller being an absolute beast I don’t blame management for wanting to have one more go with the core as they were. Don’t think it was the best idea to re-sign him with a year left on the contract but not trading him was not a bad move if they thought this team had a chance at the playoffs. Unfortunate how this season has turned out

Isles don't need a C like Horvat and Dobson is already more valuable than anything in that Rangers package. But I do agree that Horvat to the Rangers doesn't make a ton of sense when they just gave a big deal to Vinny Trocheck.
