That’s true. Phoenix is especially bad about being a front running town (look at the suns attendance a couple years ago versus now). In theory, the end of their tenure at ASU should coincide with the team turning the corner, so the last year could be a rocking barn if everything goes to plan.
But doesn’t change the fact that the building will likely be sold out every game. They average nearly 12k now in a significantly worse location, people saying they won’t sell it out are either trolling or willfully ignorant (or both)

This is what they’ll get, at least with the smaller arena it won’t seem as bad.
Though it’s a little embarrassing to have less attendance than <a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moncton_Coliseum" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">a backup QMJHL arena.</a>
Will bring a new aspect that could be entertaining for the league though, that I can agree with you.</div></div>
LOL this pic is so old it’s still called Jobing.com arena. Hasn’t been called that in nearly 10 years.
People really don’t understand the demographics of the Phoenix area. All of the fans are on the East side of the Valley (Scottsdale, Tempe, Chandler) and Gila River is on the northwest side and is generally a sh*t hole (for lack of a better term). Moving them to the east side along with a winning team they will sell out every game, both in the 5000 seat ASU arena and the (pending) new arena in Tempe.

If the organization werent stupid
This is such revisionist history. Domi had only put up 135 points in 222 games when he was traded. It was evident he was going to be a winger in the NHL, Coyotes needed centers. Galchenyuk had a 30 goal season under his belt and never scored below 50 points/season if adjusted for 82 games. And none of this takes into account that Max asked to be traded at the behest of his father who wanted him to play in a “traditional hockey market” like he did.
Totally unfair way to look at trades from 4 years ago and say “I’m so smart I wouldn’t have made that deal because I know what happens in the future”. No **** dude, no one is making that trade today. 4 years ago it was a completely different story.

But...
I could see AZ being more interested in Turcotte and Bjornfot/Anderson instead of Clarke and Kupari. They have Soderstrom and Timmons for the right side, it's the left side that's weaker.</div></div>
I wouldn’t mind that, but there’s not a true “blue chip” piece in that deal. I like Andersen and Bjornfoot but I think they’re top 4 defensemen at best. I want a piece with the potential to be the top of the lineup player like Chychrun was for us last year. You can figure out the balance on the backend later (Moser looks promising on the left side, Timmins has injury issues that have affected his development)

You’re right. Which is why they’ll make a deal with a team that will give them better raw future value than a decent wing and 2 prospect retreads. Or they won’t and they’ll keep their young talented LHD. Either way, this deal isn’t it

Wingers are easier to find though. They have at least 3 in junior/AHL right now that are projected top 6 guys. They have no projected top line centers in the organization. It would be a waste of assets to trade our only blue chip piece and not get a center with that type of potential back. Besides you’re choosing to ignore the rest of what I said. Vaak and Yamamoto don’t move the needle and neither does the first. Chychrun trade will not be surrounding one major asset, it will be multiple major assets

Coyotes don’t do this deal. Vaak and Yamamoto aren’t that interesting. Lysell is a good prospect but doesn’t fit an organizational need. 1st round pick is at the back of the draft…. A better package will present itself or the Coyotes will hang onto Chychrun

I realize he plays for a bad team, so his numbers aren't going to look great, but he was taken off the 1PP in favor of Gostisbehere this season. The one area where he should be the go-to guy for a dynamic defenseman, and he's not the go-to guy on the worst team in the league.
If these ludicrous returns are what's expected in return for Chychrun, then I hope Anaheim gives up all those pieces for him. They'll surely regret it.</div></div>
He was a top 10 defenseman last year when he had a competent defensive partner. This year he has had the privilege of playing with the corpse of Anton Stralman for most of his games. He hasn’t stepped up, sure. But you don’t get to erase last year’s performance because of a bad first 20 games of this season.
Doesn’t matter whether you think he’s worth an Eichel like return or not. That’s what Arizona is asking for so either they’ll get it or they’ll keep him and be just as happy

Most of the scouting community has soured on him somewhat. He’s no longer seen as the same prospect he was when he was drafted. Coyotes need to get a true blue-chip prospect in any Chychrun deal, Turcotte isn’t that anymore. I’m more than happy to get him as a secondary piece in a deal.

Dreger reported today that the Coyotes are asking for an “Eichel-like” return for Chychrun and are fine not dealing him at all. To me there’s no trade done with LA unless Clarke is included. People will disagree but that’s fine, Chychrun is young and cost-controlled there’s no reason for Arizona to trade him unless they’re blown away

I’d say Ottawa. If they’re going to get a top 3 nhl player they should pay for him. Would depend on the timing of the trade though. I think there are a million other obstacles in the way that come to the forefront before that becomes a problem though

Trading Draisaitl
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Oilfan1717</b></div><div>Interesting proposal. As an Edmonton fan, my first thoughts are it’s not enough from Ottawa. We’d need an elite RHD coming back, at the very least, instead of a first round pick. I’d also insist on Connor Brown - he’s a solid middle six winger with a history with McDavid.</div></div>
I “drafted” Nemic in this situation who’s supposed to be the best RHD in the draft, so that could cover the elite RHD part depending on how the oilers think of him as a prospect. I suppose instead of the 2023 1st you could talk Ottawa into giving away one of their RHD prospects but obviously they don’t have any current elite players to give at that position.
I don’t think you’ll ever be able to get a “fair” return for Drai, which is why deals like this are never made. But the team will become more balanced and you’ll be able to add elsewhere which is why I thought it was interesting to look at.
