Oil Change 2

Well Kapanen is the perfect example of a product of your surroundings, overrated. I think Andreas Johnsson is a better player by far.</div></div>
If Kapanen scores 20 as a product of playing with either Matthews or Tavares what would he score with McDavid?

Oil Change 2

I think T.O. would match a $4m offer sheet.

Youth on the Blueline
Any team with Trevor Moore on the second line doesn't have a chance... and it'll make Matthew's wonder why he signed long term. Teams w/ 3 guys making $10M+ will have insufficient depth to compete. Oh, and Kapanen/Johnson are not signing 2 year deals for under $3M... looks at some comparable young 20 goal scorers, there all north of $3M. The Leafs are going to have to suck it up and realize they can't have it all and make some bold moves to utilize their cap better... one of the big 3 will need to go.

Desert Dogs Go For It
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>The substance is right there... that is a piss poor trade of a lhd that we don’t need and a first for our franchise centre... you are also 10m over budget.
If you think we are moving Matthews to make the cap work you are off your meds.</div></div>
I'm not moving Matthews for cap space... I'm moving him for a top pair defenceman in his prime who's an upgrade on anything they have now, the 14th pick in this years draft AND the cap space to sign 2 or 3 top six forwards (Marner, Kapanen and/or Johnsson). Not a bad return for a very good player who for some bizarre reason doesn't get 20 minutes of ice time in a playoff elimination game.

Now
Heiskanen For Matthews would be closer in value</div></div>
Interesting, but I can't see trading for a 19 year old that still has a lot to learn when the Leafs are in win now mode... even with his upside. Dallas has plenty of top 6 forwards already. OEL is 27 but still a 5 years of his prime that line up with Toronto's window to contend.

Yeah, your right. Top 2 D are really easy to find and come cheap. The leafs will be able to keep Matthews and Tavares and then sign Marner, Kapanen and Johnsson and stay under the cap. Probably get Braydon Point on an offer sheet too. If you have criticism at least add some substance.

OK, Virtanen was a bit of a stretch... Kassian is more reasonable I think.

Good luck finding anybody to take Callahan. You'd have to add something valuable (like Miller or Gourde) to make it work. The question for TB is what's more important... signing Point or keeping Miller/Gourde?

He just might have some pics, you never know. Tampa has to do something if they want to resign Point... he's not taking a bridge deal. Thank Kyle Dubas' master negotiation skills with Nylander for that. TB needs cheap bottom six forwards and DET has plenty of them.
