I dont think its right on par at all</div></div>
The trade you are referring was from 2020, Savard is from 2021, so his point is more valid than not. In a year the value in retention changed. 3rd is likely correct

1st and Barron sure, pay a smaller asset for the other retained, a 4th was the price last year for that. But a 1st 2nd 3rd and barron can get someone that is more than a rental</div></div>
Wings only keep a 3rd in this scenario.

interesting trade idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>That is a very interesting deal...for Detroit.
Kent Johnson + 1st would probably enough, no?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bagelbob</b></div><div>is dylan larkin connor mcdavid?? this is like more than DOUBLE the eichel deal. i doubt the wings trade him but this is genuinely insane value, cbj would never do this</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Redstinger</b></div><div>Larkin won't be traded anytime soon, if he was, it would take more than Johnson and a 1rst.</div></div>
2 things to think about with this, first we can not use Eichel to compare to really anything because of his specific circumstances. Demanding a trade, neck surgery, 10m cap hit etc. Yes he was better than Larkin but if he had been healthy and no concern on what condition he would be when he returned, then everyone knows Buffalo could have got a lot more. Also, Mcdavid has never and will likely never ever be available, so its also not a valid comparison, If he was the package put forward in this trade would be a gross UNDER payment.
The second thing. I would think Larkin if available (which no one believes he is so this is all hypothetical) would go for essentially three 1st round equivalent pieces, so Johnson and two 1sts? or swap one of those pieces for equivalent. He's on a fair contract, plays solid at center, plays with a lot of heart and extremely humble, which is why he got the C and also likely why he wouldn't be traded unless a solid over payment. Johnson looks great (I personally believe he will be the steal of that draft at 5 and should have went before McTavish) but none of them are in NHL both feet and producing like Larkin, so try not to get wrapped up in the prospect potential.
I guess what im getting at is, at face value, do I think CBJ do this deal? No. However, the CBJ need to asses when they are ready to try. When will they be ready to push for deep a deep playoff run? If that's now Larkin does a whole lot more for the team than picks and prospects and it would take a lot more than any fan will admit to get him, so every deal you see on here is waaaaay to easy to say "CBJ decline easily"

I agree with all of you,
I love EP tho, so im curious, what do you guys think (not specific players yet) it would take to get EP?
I doubt DET would have what it takes without ruining the rebuild but im curious? Top Prospect + Two 1sts and a 2nd?
Edvinson + Two 1sts and a 2nd?

I honestly would really like to try and take on Brannstrom, I doubt I would give up Zadina regardless I just have more faith he will put it together and be a decent second line winger someday, but I also think Brannstrom could likely be a middle pairing guy eventually and people are down on him too quickly

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Letter_Kenny</b></div><div>Is Greiss really an upgrade over Smith and Koskinen? I don't think he is. Yzerman couldn't get a 2nd for Bernier last trade deadline and he played way better than Greiss did with the same team in front of him.</div></div>
I would argue Griess is AS good as Bernier was for us, not better but I dont think hes that much worse although his numbers arent great I believe hes got a bit of the Zadina effect going where numbers are worse than his actual play (but I put this out there as strictly my opinion)
But Bern was traded in the summer, so theres really no way to know what he was offered for Bernier at the TDL if anything at all? Now I imagine youre probably right if he HAD been offered a 2nd, likely would have taken that
However, if you think of it this way, Ned is likely also worth a 2nd or more right? So we got him for Bern and a 3rd.. so if we eliminate the 3rd from the trade and tack on a bad contract coming back in Turris, I still dont see how that isnt worth a 2nd round pick?

What do you honestly think is fair value? I personally would not trade this package for that kid, maybe this package works if you are a playoff team with a chance to go somewhere. 3 picks plus a prospect, but Detroit not being there, this is an overpayment IMO. The kid is very good, but he would have been drafted maybe top 10 if you redo that year. The next 2 drafts being good, I dont believe Detroit will even make the playoffs and still could draft fairly high, I could be wrong? Either way, wouldnt trade more than a 1st and a prospect maybe

This site is so high on this guy I dont understand. Dont get me wrong, hes a great player, and should have been drafted in the top 10 that year. This trade I would agree is not fair for Arizona especially retaining salary on an already good contract? However in general peoples trades for this kid are sort of absurd

This is just my opinion, But Dude, busts happen, Im not saying he is for sure just yet, but I am saying hes looking a lot more like a bust than a boom at this point. 2 different coaches and 2 different GMs have concluded he can not crack the NYR roster and should go to the AHL (in which he didnt kill it there either). So, if you think youre getting a 1st or some blue chip prospect back, based on what? Hes done nothing at the NHL level. Trust me as a wings fan it hurt seeing Cholowski turn into dust, we needed that 1st round pick to be good, he just isnt, Or Svechnikov. Continually thought to be a top 6 guy some day, every time some one put a trade with him away from the wings everyone would freak out saying exactly what youre saying now. "We arent giving up a 1st round pick for X" .. and now hes gone for 0 and likely never going to be anything, Think about if this kid goes back to KHL and you never get anything

I might agree Smith doesn't work, but I also think people are being insanely optimistic to think Kravtsov is not really worth much. I would take a flyer on him with a low level prospect or something, but if NYR asked for a 1st round pick I would hang up. I would do a 3rd or an equivalent prospect

Koskinen has 1 year left on this deal, Dobby had one solid run, otherwise has been a career backup, why get older and add more term while giving up draft assets.. The Oilers would be better off with Koskinen and Smith, while bringing up Skinner, Rodrigue, Konovalev for spot starts, OR trading for a BETTER than Smith starter....</div></div>
While I agree that paying DET a 2nd for salary retention while Dallas gets a worse pick for the player makes little sense, I also tend to agree that the price to upgrade a goalie might be more than what EDM wants to do, I disagree it makes 0 sense to look into an upgrade, EDM is in prime Mcdavid and Draisaitl time, and I absolutely do not think Koskinen can take them to the finals or win a cup. They should look to upgrade, Its just going to be very difficult without giving up good assets, and if they do, would it be for someone whos worth it?
