I’d guess his value is likely around a 2nd and 4th.
That said, I don’t think the ducks would trade him for that right now, as LW is their weakest position

Ottawa Senators signed Brady Tkachuk (3 Years / $3,425,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>He signed for one reason. To get out of Ottawa in the shortest amount of time. Staying in college would have delayed his UFA status. I betcha he has a commitment from Ottawa that he plays 10 games in the NHL so he burns a year of ELC and gets a year closer to being a UFA.</div></div>
Fastest way to get out of Ottawa would be playing out his college career so he would've become a UFA in august 2021. With signing this contract and IF he plays 10 games this year he just can become a RFA without arbitration rights in 2021...

So all the reports from Avs beat writers who have commented on Sens wanting their pick back, the Avs have asked for Karlsson or Stone, which the Sens arent willing to do.
I guess they must all be wrong

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dirtysaucedonny</b></div><div>Agreed completely. Look at what TBL got for being patient with Drouin, or what COL got for being patient with Duchene. Don't make moves just for the sake of making them. Honestly, I would be much happier watching Duchene walk at the end of the year and having him contribute to the Sens not getting that first overall pick, than trade him for far less than he's worth and watch the Sens sink to the bottom of the standings</div></div>
Duchene as a TDL deal would get the Sens so much they might faint. Picture for a moment a team that isn't flush at center but is a contender, Winnipeg comes to mind. Lets say its February and Little goes down long term, Ottawa could clean them out for Duchene. It fits a need and Winnipeg cant afford to not be compete ready in the playoffs. You could easily get a roster player, prospect and first for Duchene in that scenario. PATIENCE MY FRIENDS, patience.

This whole 'will he won't he' thing is such bs. Even if he chooses to go back to BU, it's fine. he either signs in the coming days, or at the end of BU's season.
Tkachuk wants to play in Ottawa, and he wants to play with White, and Brown and our other American prospects. If you saw them at the Dev Camp, that's totally clear.

That's one thing people seem to be doing to the Sens, writing them off as 31st overall. I don't think they will be anywhere near a playoff team but when you look down the lines they aren't extremely awful, you still have guys like Stone, Duchene, Ryan, Pageau and even Dzingel with the additions of White, Brown and possibly Tkachuk. If Karlsson isn't traded you have him, a young defenseman in Chabot, and generally depth defenseman who can hold their own afterwards. If goaltending isn't awful the Sens will not finish last in the NHL next year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dirtysaucedonny</b></div><div>That's a good point that I hadn't thought of. I wonder if, instead of the third rounder, the Flames added in Jankowski.
To OTT: Stone, Jankowski
to CGY: Anderson, McCormick (maybe a 6th or 7th rounder?)
Curious to know if you think that might be closer. I think a Smith/Anderson duo would be awesome in CGY. Splitting games would be good as both are aging goalies, and both have been successful in spurts. Interesting thought!</div></div>
As much as I love Janko, i don't think you would be far off, I think with all the signings this summer such as Czarnik, Lindholm, Ryan all guys that can take draws and the presence of Dube looking to be a strong C, Jankowski either needs to take a giant leap forward or he will become disposable very quick. I think that Flames fans hold a lot of value towards him just because of when he was picked and how he has worked through the system. He will get a show me contract for 2 years I think and depending on what he does he could find himself on the block come deadline day. I like your thoughts here, nice work!

Best first line in hockey?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dirtysaucedonny</b></div><div>This is basically taking the three best forwards from every team, which means there would be lots of teams that would be close or better than this.
BOS: Bergeron/Marchand/Pastrnak
WPG: Scheifele/Wheeler/Laine
DAL: Benn/Seguin/Radulov
FLA: Barkov/Huberdeau/Hoffman
TBL: Stamkos/Kucherov/Miller
TOR: Matthews/Tavares/Marner
STL: Tarasenko/O'Reilly/Schwartz
PIT: Crosby, Malkin, Kessel
WSH: Ovechkin, Backstrom, Kuznetsov
Not saying they're all better, but they'd give this line a run for their money for sure. I'd probably take PIT, WSH, BOS and WPG over this line. McDavid is fantastic, but Draisaitl had a mediocre year and Nugent-Hopkins consistently underwhelms me.</div></div>
I’d take all of those lines over the one I made with the exception of Toronto, Florida and St. Louis. Add Point to the Tampa Bay line and it’s even better.

Sens Moving Forward
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dirtysaucedonny</b></div><div>Max McCormick has played the past 4 seasons in Belleville and put up decent numbers while there. Problem is, that hasn't really translated to any success at the NHL level. To me, he's very much in the same position as Nick Paul, for reference. Both players will be given longer looks in the NHL this year, but I don't see McCormick ever being much more than a 12/13th forward. I added him in this trade thinking that it could maybe bump up the pick I included with Stone by a round or two. To me, might as well get something for him, since if he has another year without much success at the NHL level, I can see the Sens moving on without him.</div></div>
The Flames are stacked with those kind of players is the problem, I think if he was just AHL depth, no problem, you are selling towards one of our surpluses though which is what makes me thing that the pick would be tough to add from a Flames perspective. I am a big advocate for a tandem of Smith and Anderson between the pipes and if that is what it took to get it done, in my mind it's a no doubter.

I agree with Zadina, but I’m not sold on Tkachuk and Bouchard. Sure, they are going to be great NHL players for their team, but I don’t think they are as talented as the other guys in my list. They’re overrated in my opinion, but that’s just me. I think a guy like Hughes would be a better option and fit since they lack quality LHD. Kotkaniemi has more upside than Tkachuk and Brady didn’t impress me that much . As the oldest player in the draft, I expected him to be dominant, which he was, but not at the level I wanted him to be.

Caps Final Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dirtysaucedonny</b></div><div>That's a good comparison, but I would say the impact that the player had on their team is what makes the difference. Both big bodies who play a rough game, but I feel like Wilson just brings more to the table. He also just help bring them a Stanley Cup, which will likely be another piece his agent will bring forward during negotiations. With your comparison, I can see where you're coming from on the number, but I just feel like Wilson has much more to offer than Jenner. I might be taking the "what have you done for me lately" approach, but I would be happy for my team to give Wilson a 5x5 contract. He can play anywhere in the lineup, kills penalties, and brings something that Washington doesn't have at all without him. From my perspective, if guys like Antoine Roussel and Jay Beagle are getting 4 year deals for 3mil/season, there's no reason Wilson shouldn't be getting five. I realize those are consensus over-payments, but just another something to think about. I would personally put Wilson somewhere in the range of 4.5-5.25/season for 4-5 years.</div></div>
Okay, yeah, I definitely see the logic there. I still think $5mm is a little too high for his level of point production, even factoring in all the other things he brings to the table. I'd be perfectly happy if they gave him anywhere from 5-7 years at $4 to $4.5mm. I've split the difference to reflect, and gone $4.25mm for 5 years, as I still think that is perfectly fair for both sides.

hense why if I'm MTL, I hold onto him this summer and pray he finds his form(probably will, he is still only 29), then trade him at the deadline as a high priced rental.

Team Canada 2020?
There's always a ton of debate when it comes to a best-on-best Team Canada roster, but you've done well here I think. This far away (1 year, 7 months?) it's interesting speculation because some of the older guys could conceivably see some significant regression in their game while younger guys like Barzal or Ekblad could step up even more. I always want to go younger with these teams, but the TC brass generally like the vets, even if they're not in their prime anymore.
To me the biggest question mark on your roster is the goaltending. Holtby struggled all year until the playoffs, and will Price ever be the same?

Team Canada 2020?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dirtysaucedonny</b></div><div>There are so many good players it's so hard to choose from. Barzal was my last addition to this team, but I think if he has two years like this past one, it would be next to impossible to leave him off the team. It would likely be an older guy like Benn or Bergeron to take a step back in the next two years IMO. As a Sens fan, I love Stone, and the fact that he's a very good two-way player might make him enticing for this squad.
As for defence, Canada is so overloaded with right-handed d-men, it makes it difficult to build this team without having some righties play the left side. that being said, Canadian teams in the past have always looked for L/R pairings, which is why I included Vlasic. I think Ekblad is a fantastic player and will contend to make this team, just don't know if there's room for him.</div></div>
Not disagreeing. I think the LD/RD bias lately is due to Babcock...it was a preference of his. I'm sure TSN can't wait for this debate to heat up again so they can fill some airtime again.

IMO, Barzal does not make this team. I think Stone replaces him (natural right winger that can do it all). I think Ekblad is one who will push for a spot. Those are just 2 names that come quickly to mind.

Why Acquiring Ryan Ellis Doesn't Make Sense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dirtysaucedonny</b></div><div>Agreed completely. Despite having Marleau come off the books soon, the leafs will definitely need some cap help. The cap will go up, but not by the amount they will need to keep all of their valuable assets. That Zaitsev deal looked like a nightmare the minute it was signed, and will only get worse if he can't find another level to his game. I think some assistance should come in the form of looking to trade Gardiner and Marleau as a package for a D. Only other option when looking for a place to find money would be trading Nylander for a defenceman of his calibre. No way this Leafs team makes it out of the East, let alone wins a cup, with a D core looking like that.</div></div>
In other constructions I've suggested trading Gardiner now for Stephen Johns (Dallas) or Jon Merrill (Las Vegas). I would even sweeten any deal with a high draft pick because it can be seen as the cost of signing John Tavares.

Winnipeg Future Outlook
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dirtysaucedonny</b></div><div>A lot of these contracts are undervaluing key players. Laine for 7 years is going to cost you probablyt 1 mil more annually than Draisaitl money, which would be around 9.5mil/season. Morrissey at 7 years would likely cost you 6mil/season. Kyle Connor (if he has another season like this past one) will also cost you 6mil/season at least for that long of term. Signing that many guys to 1 year deals only prolongs the inevitable of having to pay them, and will likely cost you more in the future if they have good years. WIN is going to need to make some moves to make the cap work in the next year or two. Not a bad problem to have, but there are too many big contracts in the lineup already with young talent that is going to be paid in the next few years.</div></div>
8.75 makes him the 2nd highest paid RW in the league this year, and 3rd highest next year behind Kane and Kucherov. As good as Laine is, he is just behind Kuch ( he's a 100 point player now). So I'd say this number for Laine is just about right...maybe 9.
