Center of Attention
More D going to Vegas does not make sense, they are low on forwards and have a surplus of D men. I also believe that Maatta could fetch more in a trade.

Yeah I like your trades for sure, only thing I think is off is Dumoulin's contract - he's due for more than that. I predict the Pens will sign sheary to a cheaper one year deal and try to lock dumo up

I like Honqvist and would do the trade if you sweeten the pot.. either a 2nd and 3rd pick or you add Gnuetzel and Oilers throw in a 3rd in '18 with <strong><em>conditional 4</em></strong> in '19 and a 7th pick in '19 and '20</div></div>
I did attempt to sweeten the pot with RFA Pouliot. Young, highly drafted defenseman who has not panned out here in Pittsburgh but never really had a legitimate chance.

Schultz, Dumoulin, and Sheary are all RFA, giving the Pens most if not all of the leverage. These players do not get offers from other teams.

whats with all of the Hainsey re-signings on Pens teams?? The guy is basically the second coming of Scuderi. Pens desperately need to move on from him & Daley this offseason.

I like it.. wonder if that would be enough for Vatanen though. Maybe Pens would have to send Sheary instead of Rust. Also, I am not sure that Sprong will be NHL ready next season - he still has never gotten any real AHL experience yet.

Yea I was kind of reaching with the Polak signing.. really was just looking for any right-handed D man that was available UFA. Its a pet peeve of mine to have lefties playing on the right side. I moved Sheary because I figure you have to give up something to get something.. would you move someone else instead?

I don't think I would do this. Malkin is ELITE talent that can't be bought with cap space.. As pens fans I think we underestimate the value of having a 2C like Malkin.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ClockReads2113</b></div><div>Are you serious? Drouin is about 10x the player Sheary is. Drouin is an elite top line player, Sheary is barely bottom 6. When he's away from Crosby he's completely invisible. You will get nowhere near the value of Muzzin, a top pairing dman, AND a mid 1st round pick. PIT fans are insane.</div></div>
Woah bitter caps fan here. You're out of your mind calling Sheary bottom 6 - sure right now he's looking a little ineffective but guys go through that. Drouin has been through that. Both Sheary and Drouin play wing on lines with talent. Sheary produced the same amount of points, played 12 less games, and got barely any pp time which he is actually good at, Pens just have a great top unit. Half of Drouin's points were on the pp.

Fair enough, I'll replace Dumoulin with Maatta. Kept on going back and forth about which one of the two they'd keep. Letang and Schultz are two of their 3 D they keep.</div></div>
Pens are not going to lose either to expansion for nothing. I think they will protect 4 D, force Vegas to take Fleury, Hornqvist, or Hagelin

Defense playing well in front of him? Wow. Yes they've limited the high-danger front net shots but their inability to break out of the d zone has meant that Fleury has been almost non-stop busy for periods on end. I'm loving Fleury right now.

Are you a Flames fan? As a pens fan I think the pens would gladly accept the Fleury trade as long as he would allow himself to be traded to CGY. Probably overpaying big time.

something
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>orignalsix</b></div><div>I question all these Pens that think Hagelin can be offloaded to Vegas. His departure is very questionable. Same with Fleury, it's really just hoping he would agree to a trade.
It's easy to sign players when you have cap space. Try making a lineup with Hagelin and Fleury. To answer your question, I like the signings.</div></div>
Well the pens will protect 4-4-1 which would be Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Rust, Letang, Schultz, Dumoulin, Maatta. That leaves Vegas with not much to pick from since Guentzel & Sheary are exempt also and Bonino is UFA. The 3 options I see Vegas looking at are Hagelin, Hornqvist, and Cole. I'm in the camp that believes Vegas will actually need to take on some salary to hit the cap floor, they can't just take all RFAs on cheap deals. So I really think they will be between Hornqvist and Hagelin, therefore a 3rd rd pick seems like it could convince them to take the contract with more term, who is also a younger player more likely to rebound instead of decline like Hornqvist.
As far as Fleury goes, yeah he's gonna have to accept a trade proposal from the Pens. There's even a chance that he could be a Vegas candidate if he's open to it. Most pens fans are believing he's not going to screw over the team but who knows.

Yeah I was figuring he would definitely prefer that location over an expansion team.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DARTGUY</b></div><div>Does Dumoulin really get a bigger contract than Shultz?</div></div>
Well I gave Dumoulin a long term deal while Schultz's was more of a bridge deal, the idea being he gets term and more $ next deal. It could very well be the other way around, with Dumo getting a bridge while Schultz gets locked up long term. I doubt the Pens will spend big on both this summer though.

my serious prediction for next season.. comment!
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>cnb17</b></div><div>Not sure if the Pens would go after Hanzal when they can just resign Bonino for less than $4.5mil. I think Maatta also gets traded some where and the Pens might go after Shattenkirk or some other top 2 defender. I like the trade with Carolina but I'm not sure if they would trade Murphy with a pick involved. Lastly, I don't think Cole gets picked by Vegas. I'm guessing Hagelin.</div></div>
Bonino probably gets a pretty decent raise if the Pens resign him.. In my opinion Hanzal is a definite upgrade over Bonino. Not sure why you think Maatta gets traded. His value coming off of injury is probably at its lowest so I doubt the Pens get a decent return on him.. plus they're stacked at forward so I'm not sure what kind of trade you are guessing at. I do think Hagelin or Hornqvist would be good guesses for Vegas also, in fact I'd rather have Hagelin taken than Cole.
