Detroit is not going to trade for players over 30. The window of contention doesn't open for another 3-4 years yet and paying for players that won't be here then isn't going to happen.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kogut35</b></div><div>Agreed, although Pasta is what maybe 4 1sts or 3 and a high end prospect? Players like that just so rarely get traded. Mcavoy one is tough with the cap, I'd say 3 1sts is fair, especially considering age and contract. No clue what the Kings value doughty as.</div></div>
McAvoy turns 26 this year, he will be a ufa at 32, so his contract is great. Can definitely get 4 1sts for him as well as he's a top pairing RHD. I think with either guy you want a high-end prospect or young NHL + 3 picks unless they are being traded at the draft for a top 5+ pick.
SJ is probably a good destination for McAvoy, can take back Vlasic, and I don't think them acquiring him would automatically make them a playoff team, so the 1sts that they acquire should be valuable (of course need to have limited/no protection on some of the picks). Pastrnak to Buffalo with the number of young prospects that they have would be great but maybe they wouldn't want to take on that contract (would require sending back Skinner of course) considering that Dahlin is getting 11M already. So Seattle would be my choice, Shane Wright+picks + some roster players to make the cap work as the return.

Either way, pumped to see a little rookie rivalry between the two. Will be fun.</div></div>
Understandable, I would have given the edge to Knies bc Knies isn't playing in the top 6 but pumped to watch the Bruins vs Toronto... Even just to see Reaves and Lucic go at it

The Ridly Greig friendship tour is in full swing. By the trade deadline half the league will be saying "f*** that guy".

Good post Kogut.
Bedard and Cooley appear as advertised. Have been impressed with Poitras, Lacombe, Jiricek too. Luke isn’t being treated like rookie…thrown right into PP1 and in tough defensive situations. Can’t complain this far. Look forward to seeing the rest of these guys.

And Knies has played pretty well thus far, especially bc he's been great on the PK

I think if he gets traded and only has a few teams of interest, it would be a similar return to Claude Giroux.

I personally don't see why him being 33 would limit his value like you mention. When he's healthy as he currently is he is over a ppg player. If Tampa were to deal Stammer, I'd believe they would probably be looking for some young NHL ready/nearly ready prospects on ELCs. So Lysell and/or Lohrei would be of interest. A 1st is a must have. Debrusk could make some sense. Overall not a bad trade offer, but things would have to go south in Tampa and Stammer would have to want to leave and not plan on hitting the FA market for it to make sense

Improving the center depth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>Byfield has looked like a man possessed so far this season.
Don't forget, last season he had a severe case of Covid and lost 20 pounds at the beginning of the season. He also played the entire season with two sprained wrists.
The Kings are all in on this kid. If the Kings could take a mulligan on the 2020 draft knowing what they know now, I think they'd still take Byfield over Stutzle.</div></div>
If the Kings had a do over they would take Stutzle hands down. Don't kid yourself. You are letting personal bias cloud your mind. I am not an Ottawa fan but Stutzle is a stud and he will be for the next 10-15 years. Proof will be in the pudding.

Improving the center depth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>Stutzle is like Zegras. Sure he's flashy and can put up some big numbers, but he's not winning your team any games. He's a complete void defensively and is a decent supplemental player, but if he's the best player on the team, your team isn't going anywhere.
The Kings are trying to develop Byfield into the franchise difference maker that they drafted him to be. Sure, it takes longer, but we're already starting to see the results of their patience this season.</div></div>
Stützle is flashy like Zegras?
“Flashy” is really just a deriding way of saying “skilled”…both Zegras and Stützle are elite young players who can absolutely help teams win. Byfield has size, and potential, but is a loooong way from those other two.
