Mock nothing major 2024 offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>I don't believe MTL will try and move Savard this offseason either, but I think the market for cost effective RD will be much greater this off-season than at this past trade deadline. Guys like Tanev will go for $5+mil aav deals with the cap going up. And teams who miss out will see guys like Savard at $3.5mil aav as a more valuable commodity and might be willing to give the price Hughes is asking for.
MTL will have their 30 year old vet with Matheson. Guhle, Kovacevic and Xhekaj will be in their 3rd NHL season, Struble in his 2nd NHL season. I don't see an issue sprinkling in Hutson, Reinbacher, and Mailloux throughout that lineup. And it's 100% realistic to see all of them at the same time at some point next season.</div></div>
maybe they get more for savard this offseason than at the deadline, but its not likely, 2 years os savard would be worth more than 1 year of him.
i think it possible to see all 3 of them, mostly when we are out of a playoffs game and its meaningless and we have injuries.
makes no sense to have 3 rookie on defense unless they force the hand of the Gms, which is not likely...

if they planned on moving savard, he woumd have been gone at the deadline where the value is the highest. Montréal wont put 3 rookie on their regular d-corp next year.

6 Newhooks is better than 3 Laines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>I think you are looking at it from the wrong side, LA just made Korpisalo, Rittich and Talbot earn paydays.
LAs defense makes goalies jobs easier and bolsters their value. If you are Matt Murray, Ilya Samsanov, Chris Dreidger, Casey Desmith you are lining up for the opportunity (even at league minimums) to earn back a starter role and bolster their stats through a one-year budget deal.
Also, solid goalies who just want a path to a starter role and playoff games could sign for $2-3M like: Brossoit, Stolarz, Nedeljkovic, Fluery, etc.
LAs goaltending tandem is one of the best in the league at one of the lowest cap hits, everyone seems to think LAs goaltending is awful, but statistically Talbot has been one of the best goaltenders in the league, and the best over the last 10 games.</div></div>
Oh i was just wondering who you think they would target in free agency, im not saying it cant be done.

only move i would not do is the primeau trade, he is more useful to us than turcotte. rushing dobes is a really bad idea.
primeau is the perfect exemple, he had much better number than dobes everywhere he went and it took years for him to establish himself as a good option in net in the nhl.
lets takes our time with dobes and see what we have in primeau.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>I mean LA found two goalies doing better than that at $1M or less, so yes in the case of LA it is easier to find a goalie than a 4C.</div></div>
who do you think they get next year for less than 1 mil? both LA goalies will want more after their season it feels.

i think its very unlikely jarvis sign long term personally.
Its gonna be interesting to see what they do with KK. With that buyout so cheap, they have to ask themselves if that money could be better spent aomewhere else.
i think they will give him another year probably.

i mean, maybe not? before mcdavid hyman was worse than most of these players. maybe if you stick him on a first line, with suzuki and slaf, he could get a fair amount of points.
watch caufield get traded to Edmonton and he will get more points and goal than hyman in Mtl would.
dubois has been a consistent 60 points player until this year too, its too early to put him as a washed player.
Longstory short, playing with drai and mcdavid is gonna inflate your point, and hyman is making the most of it. it can be hard to know how it translate to another team.

lets be real, hyman would never score 50 goals in Montréal. even when playing with matthews and marner he was not close.

that wasnt the argument. you can read it again. thats why its stupid.

im pretty sur if they offered suzuki, caufield, slaf, reinbacher, hutson, our next 3 first and ghule the sharks would dot it. Anyway this is just an obvious ridiculous argument.

assuming either dach or newhook can be 2c (which is not sure) This team needs another middle 6 winger and probably a right.side dman with experience.
I assume our first this year is gonna fill the gap for a foward. Now we will need to see if our 2c are good enough and if mailloux and reinbacher can be good top 4 options.

More realistic offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Lilly's very different though. He's one of two natural RHD's the Leafs have (I'm not including Timmins, he's always hurt) and STILL struggles for playing time. Carolina are one of, if not the, deepest rosters in the NHL. Drury gave an incredible account of himself in an elevated role. He plays a more valuable position too, and is a year younger. If he hadn't asked for a trade, I'd argue he's the more valuable piece here</div></div>
well, he is still getting scratched...
leafs have a lot of option on defense too. Brodie has played his whole career RD, his handeness is irrelevent.
not arguing who is worth more. im just pointing out the bad faith holding a young player getting scratched against him but if your team do it there is a good excuse.
keefe qas doing the same thing to sandin and a year later he plays top 4 on another team somehow. i suspect the same thing would happen to liljgren ( and drury too)
