Canucks need grit in Gallagher to play alongside skill at Centre.

JT Miller is the type of player Carolina needs in the playoffs, you watch next season. And the Canucks could use Aho, who will likely not stay in Carolina long term

Hawk-ey Trades for a Rebuild
Is RNH going to sign in Edmonton after this year IF the Oilers don't show any improvement? First Round Pick isn't looking so bad now is it? This forecast was made based on thinking the Oilers might not improve given they don't have an upgrade in goal. Rather get something than lose RNH for nothing I'd think.

If we just stay the course in 2020
1. New economics of the league given the pandemic could change things up a bit
2. your opinion, so fair enough
3. see point #2
4. Forecasting a deadline move with a familiar player/team, nut you could very well be right here (that's why this isn't real)
5. Awfully bold statement given that we don't know how this season plays out and Holtby could perform well enough to show he'd worthy

Wouldn't Dipietro, a local product, be of interest to take on just $3 mill for one year on Eriksson? What if Murray doesn't pan out? I figured he'd be a good backup option that could pan out for the future?

Fair enough that he is among your best players and an obvious fan favourite, but the guy lives here in the offseason, and is a UFA, so...........................................he gets to choose where he wants to play. And if Montreal cant give him an amount that he wants, he can come up with a number that he would be willing to accept to potentially play on a wing with Pettersson or Horvat.

It's a great thing they didn't. They could have a high probability of signing him for free in the offseason as he seems to want to come to Van

True, but with the acquisition of Toffoli earlier last week, if he knew Markstrom is out for longer, I think he would have done everything he could have to get a better option in goal versus Domingue.

Time to sign Petey and Huggy
Fair comments, my numbers were based on the current $81.5 cap, so the both can proportionately go up based on the cap increase.

Some Unpopular Moves to Free the Cap
You're right about the health issues and getting younger, but Tanev is younger than Green (4 years), Ericsson (5 years) and Daley (6 years), and is a great PK'er. He won't cost a fortune to sign, is low drama, and his favourite team growing up was the Red Wings (met him once and found out).
Just messing around with ideas of course, but if Green, Ericsson and Daley aren't coming back next year, he could replace any one of them and still give your team plenty of spots to fill with young D-men (not too mention there's tons of cap space still left over).

Well, we are paying less for Rafferty vs Stetcher, but I feel for a third pairing D man it might not be as huge a drop off as one might think longer term. I think Troy is playing at his peak, and i wouldn't want to pay him te $4-5 million he's going to be looking for (as we'll need space for Hughes down the road). Rafferty deserves a shot on the third pair.
Ristolainen is an upgrade vs an aging Tanev, and I'd be glad to pay $1 mill more for opportunity for upside vs Tanev (who has shown to be injury prone, and would proably look for a raise on his $4.45 mill anyway)

Now what do we do?
I guess you guys will have much better choices at right shot dmen who can be a plus rating on a shitty team (as Tanev was)? Wait........? I'll let you come back with an option....
As more Right shot D re-sign with their teams (and you know you aint getting Karlsson now), your choices run out, so guess what, there will be a market for him. Maybe there's a swapping of draft picks or something, but theres a framework there.
I'd rather bet on Nylander early, especially playing with two up and coming fellow Swedish stars like Pettersson and Dahlen. If you can use up some UFA years I'd gamble.

Canuck and Oiler fans; would you like this trade?
From a Canucks fans perspective, Nugent Hopkins has shown he is fairly injury prone, I don`t see him growing in size much more than where he`s currently at. A Tkachuk or Dubois has potential to be a much bigger Forward down the road and could play with our top prospect Brock Boeser

I like the Detroit deal if it can get done (maybe $3 mill retained each since Datsyuk is worth $8 mill)
