Pesce is a dealbreaker. Canes won’t cripple their blue line just to help a team hunt down a playoff spot, when we are poised to make a deep run right now. Drury may only have 2 NHL games under his belt, but he has looked amazing. 2 goals in 2 NHL games. Drury isn’t being shipped out anytime soon.

Boeser is a nice piece, but he plays RW, not LW, which is where we need a top 6 LW. If he can learn to play his off wing, I could see him as a good piece for Carolina to chase.

The package you have come up with for Pesce won’t get you in the door. The main prize is Boeser, and he doesn’t play a position of need. At the heart of it, it’s pretty much Pesce for Boeser, with various bits and bobs being tossed in to try and even the value out. If the Canes were wanting to shop Pesce or Drury, they would be looking for higher quality pieces, I am not entirely sold on Rathbone, and DiPietro would just take away developing time for our young goalies in the pipeline. No deal.

DeAngelo literally has better numbers than Dougie.

Canes reject. He was a no in a deal for Laine. He was a no in the Eichel sweepstakes. For a package of meh, it's still a no. He's likely only leaving Carolina in a deal for someone like Pettersson

There's zero mitigation of risk w/r/t Eichel's health in there for the Jackets, which makes it extremely troublesome. And if Carolina was willing to give up that kind of metric ***fon of assets for Laine we'd consider just talking with them directly.

Carolina were not going to deal Ned anywhere but Detroit. That trade wasn't for the return. His fiance is from the area and he took a discount of about 2 mil to play there. Otherwise, you're looking closer to 5. You're also looking at more for McGinn than he got in Pittsburgh.

The Jeff Skinner trade sequence doesn’t make any sense from the Arizona perspective. They gave up a 3rd to take him, then move the pieces they got from buffalo and a fourth to LA in return for another fourth round pick.

Maybe to you Martinook’s value isn’t high, but to the canes his value is astronomical. While those picks would be about his value on the market, canes aren’t moving him for that. The jackets traded for Voracek to have a playmaker for Laine, and now you want to dump him? Not sure that is the wisest move.

That's also ignoring he's under contract for next year when Parise/Suter dead cap goes up and Benn was just signed by the Wild so they're not trading him before he plays a game for them.
