Not sure about this one
Yeah, regardless of the cap issues on the Blues side, I don't see them saying yes to this. They essentially get garland for the same price as Parayko for the next 3 years, lose a low 2nd, and arguably get worse offensively trading Vrana for Beau. Then they have 4 more years of the Parayko retention. Don't think so.

Thanks to all three of you for the great comments. I agree Columbus makes the most sense here. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I didn't hear that. Interesting. I heard all 4 of the Flyers players were so there must be a different blues player in the mix with high value if no picks are involved.

No room for Bo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jerdog666</b></div><div>We know it can be done. Van has shed several "unwanted" contracts in the past. But it is usually at a price (draft picks). This season is already written off, so no need to explore moves like that until the summer when teams have room to play with their cap space.
I don't know if it is possible, but I like the idea of trading Bo as a "playoff rental" and then resigning him in the off season. Toronto could use a Matthews replacement and they have no cap space to keep Bo long term, maybe there's deal to be made.</div></div>
The trade and re-sign in the off-season rarely works out. Bo wants playoffs, he wants to win. Once he hits free agency, he's going to have a number of teams in on him, likely offering more than Van. And if it's a team that's closer to Stanley cup contention, there's no way he comes back to Van.
So, trade Bo now (sign and trade to get more if you can). Or trade Brock for pennies and lock Bo up long term to a Miller type deal.

Good feedback. Cap would make this a challenge no doubt. Van could retain on Bo for this season but both he and Kuz would be rentals unless minny moved some money out.
Let's change it slightly.

Getting cap compliant
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tmclean64</b></div><div>Youre missing Rathbone and Joshua instead of Keeper + Dowling.
Lines will probly be something like:
Garland-Miller-Boeser
Pearson-Horvat-Mikheyev
Kuzmenko-Petey-Podkolzin
Hoglander-Dickinson-Lazar
Joshua
Hughes - OEL
Dermott-Myers
Rathbone-Schenn
Burroughs-Poolman
Demko
Martin</div></div>
Do you think Hoglander starts in Van next season? With Kuzmenko and Mikheyev, there's no more room in the top 9.

Poolman may not be ready, you're right. Keeper, I actually have no idea, he hasn't played a game for Van since we signed him 2 years ago. Sounds like he's skating so maybe, maybe not. Hoglander is set to return though, however he may start in Abbotsford

Two different things.
And I only want to acquire him for Zaitsev if we're out of options.
Also, what is your plan to get under the cap before opening night?</div></div>
The Canucks are already cap compliant 23 man roster with $748,000 in cap space.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>You would get rid of Myers for exactly that.
Cap space.
And you would also get rid of Myers because he's nothing more than a scapegoated whipping boy in Vancouver.
And he is not a Top 4 RHD, so stop kidding yourself.</div></div>
Interesting that you want him so badly yet you think he's an overpaid piece of garbage. Myers is 100% a top 4 Defenseman in this league. The problem in Van is that he's essentially our only RHD. So he's playing minutes against teams top lines. He shouldn't be. I would take Myers in a #4 role at 4.5M everyday.
Zaitsev is Erik Gudbranson light. We don't need that again. Good luck with that one Columbus.

Zaitsev still makes 4.5 right? I don't think saving 1.5M to get a significantly worse defenseman makes sense for Van.
And I don't understand why Van would get rid of him in the first place. They need top 4 RHDs and Myers is that, albeit, at too high of a cap hit but RHDs get paid in this league.

Of course he could’ve just traded his first to dump Ladd instead of moving Toews for scraps and trading a first for Kyle Palmieri and Travis Zajac smh. Honestly Zajac may have been the better player in the deal that year lmao.</div></div>
The Toews deal is going to sting for a long time. Friendly contract too.
Interesting on the pageau deal. Tough to send bad contracts back at the trade deadline without grossly overpaying but yeah give ottawa an extra pick to take on hickey, Leo or that first with Ladd. They were stockpiling picks at that time, I'm sure they would have done it.

Lou doesn’t even deserve credit for his first round picks in 2018. Garth played with Wally’s dad in college and everyone knew Snow wanted Dobson back then.

You have to understand every core player outside of Dobson was drafted by Snow. Barzal, Nelson, Lee, Pelech, Pulock, Mayfield and Sorokin are all his guy. The issue is that Lou made their defense significantly worse while not adding young talent thru the draft the way Garth did. Clearly he’s betting on Salo and Romanov to save his job. He isn’t gonna make another move.</div></div>
That's fair. If I was in his seat, Dobson would be a top priority to lock up long term.

He doesn't have godly numbers in the A but he's been solid. So, some promise but this next year will be the make or break.
A team would be taking a big chance on him for a third. I would definitely say you're right about that needing to be a 4th maybe a 5th right now.
