Dont Stop Treliving
Well Detroit not being able to buy out makes that trade scenario moot. But this would be the package that I would send to get someone to take Murray on

Unqualified
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hurricanes73</b></div><div>Nice underpayments bud. If the leafs want to sign any of those guys they have to overpay based on the fact that canadas taxes are like 10% higher or something than americas. Stromes 2 mil contract would leave him with around 960k in profit in Ontario. Strome signs that exact same deal in Chicago he nets 1.15 mil. With about a 200k difference in just a small contract like that it makes it hard for a lot of players to see Toronto as a nice location to play, especially with the media possibly taking a toll on their mental. A big reason why I think matthews leaves in 2 years is the tax situation. The contract he signed in Canada, he’s netting around 5.4m a year. A 10m contract in the states nets him 5.6m. To sign any of these free agents makes no sense for the players as while the contracts they are being offered may be higher in AAV, the actual dollar amount the players are receiving is less. Not even going to mention how you undervalued almost every guy signed but I don’t want to get into that, rather would get into how it’s not as financially rewarding to sign in Canada. Good looks</div></div>
Thank you for your input

An Important LandesKOG in the Wheel
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Aussie_Blackhawk</b></div><div>Also Landerskog will be getting more than the 7m in the above ACGM.</div></div>
He might get a higher AAV on a shorter deal, but I think the Leafs will lean in to the fact that they can offer most of the money in bonuses (which are taxed differently in Ontario) and get Landeskog or any other BIG free agent to sign in Toronto on a lower AAV over a longer term.

Probably, I just clicked them at random as a way to get Mikheyev's salary off the team.

The 3rd Line Was Here All Along
My hope is that they protect Kerfoot and expose both Dermott and Holl. I kept Holl because I think Dermott has more upside and Seattle knows that, but also because Holl and Muzzin worked so well together last season. You have to give Robertson, Brooks and Anderson a chance to prove themselves especially on such cheap contracts.

I understand what you are trying to do here but it is so misbalanced that wouldn't be worth it.</div></div>
I also don't think the Leafs problem was their bottom 6, it was the fact that it's so easy to shut down Marner when he only has Matthews to pass to.

The management is doubling down on the Core Four so why not add a player like Hall to give them one more scoring option. With a top 6 that talented it would be very easy to adjust your lineup to have 3 balanced lines; Matthews doesn't really need to play with anyone and he's still gonna get 40. I would rather spend the money on a player like Taylor Hall to give Marner another finisher to feed.

2021-22 CHAMPS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>Why do you think Detroit takes this deal?</div></div>
I am going off of the return Detroit got for Athanasiou (Gagner and 2 picks) after he had similar numbers to Bertuzzi. I don't think Detroit sees Bertuzzi in their long-term plans; I don't see Yzerman paying the kind of money that Bertuzzi could get on a UFA deal. Dermott has the "potential" to be a top 4 DMan and is 2 years younger than Bertuzzi. When it comes to Engvall, he is also younger than I think he could put up good numbers playing top 6 minutes in Detroit and could be dealt at the deadline for even more assets. I was also unaware that you could add draft picks to a trade, I am new to this. What would you expect in return for Bertuzzi?

Hoffman is one dimensional, but I think the Leafs are leaning towards their top 6 being all about offense, especially if Marner/Matthews continue to be shut down in the post season.

I like the Hoffman and Nosek signings, but Freddy at 4.5 is a little too much IMO. I think Reimer or Bernier would be better options and should come in at a cheaper price.

It would be a trade for Hamilton's rights to get him on that 8th year. I am definitely not committed to this deal though, just playing around.

I think Detroit takes that deal, mind you I don't know what the market for Bertuzzi is though. Also, Sandin, Brooks and Liljegren have to be given a chance to prove their ready.
