I don’t mind him but we already have Acciari who we may need to move on from anyway. He doesn’t fit a need for us.

I'd be hesitant to do this deal as a Habs fan. He's been one of their more consistent performers on the backend. Elite skater. He's easily one of the liked players in the league with his charity work. Many scouts gush over him.</div></div>
We don’t need a LHD. Your fan base is being delusional.

Ill put rakell at this moment ahead of the kids but 2 things; rakell has 4 more years and guenther & doan and prolly but will over those years surpass rakell who will be 35yo at the end of contract. second this team is not a rakell away from competing for cup so yes develop the kids. sorry i know PITT wants/needs to shed cap but AZ has really no need for 30+ yo W for 4 years</div></div>
I understand your point of view on this if it is to give ice time to the kids. It’s something I’d like to see the Pens do more of as we move forward. Now I had read that your ownership group wants to make a playoff push next year and I’d assume adding veterans is required. If I’m in your position I’d be using my cap space to get paid to take on contracts. If Rakell’s is too long so be it but I’d look for maybe some shorter term vets, maybe a Dman like Holl who Detroit will need to dump.

You two are off the reservation. You’d think you would have a little more humility than this when your team is objectively bad, meaning most of your players are bad.

And he’s not a top pairing LHD by any measurement like Pettersson is, hence why he is appropriately paid.

Cap space is the only reason. And he is objectively a better player today than the kids you have at RW. If you are saying you’d rather give the minutes to those kids that’s understandable, but every GM in this league would take a veteran winger with Rakell’s resume over 98% of the kids in the league if they’re trying to win.

Puckpedia’s cap relief calculator estimates the cost to move Rakell’s remaining contract at the 10th pick of the 1st round.</div></div>
That’s insane. He’s definitely not a problem and I’d rather keep him any day than pay a 1st.

Basically its a sign of disrespect and not a hockey play in their eyes, Hischer should have known better but kind of glad he did it as he gave us the gift of Karma for OTT</div></div>
The Landeskog one was closer to what Grieg did. I get that being a d*** move. Also the reaction from Markstrom to freakin spear a guy who that gentle tap in was way overboard… as bad as Rielly overboard.

Its a rule amongst the players thats been there for a while and I remember it
Heck even Crosby responded at an attempt
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ha_nTkDuFqQ&ab_channel=Jens95
Basically funny though it happened to OTT Karma at its best especially since it was on a EN</div></div>
I saw your video and in almost all of those circumstances I get the response. If you shoot a puck at the goalie after the whistle or at another player that’s totally understandable. I think all of those are considerably worse than what Nico did.

2023-2024 NHL Discussion Thread #5: The Final Stretch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>There is an unwritten rule its not just with Canadian teams
Like putting a puck in after a wistle has been blown does lead to a response
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVJeqhfRZoU&ab_channel=Jens95
Now going back to this particular situation. There are unwritten rules in hockey for various situations and if u break them your gonna see a response such as TOR vs. OTT and NJ vs. OTT
Every sport has these rules. NBA teams in blowout gamed dont go to score final 30 seconds is a classic example
Why when players shoot for the empty net do they not go crazy with its cause they know to be respectful as doing what Greig did was not a hockey play and was gonna get a response. Did Rielly go a bit to far yes but at the same time Greig learned his lesson. He's just lucky it wasnt another more brutish team with Goons. For Hischer he should have known better not to shoot at the net after the whistle as that always gets a response.
But in OTT case Karma's a **** :tearsofjoy</div></div>
I can’t recall ever seeing a player go nuts over something like what Hirschier did. Like I said before the Ridly Grieg thing was goofy and I’m not shocked that ticked off the Leafs but the thing tonight was harmless and not that out of the ordinary.

Oh and what’s with Canadian teams and these “codes”? Nico Hischier did absolutely nothing wrong. The Ridly Grieg slapper was a bit goofy but nothing worth cross-checking him in the head over. In nearly 35 years of watching the NHL I’ve never seen players get so easily PO’d over tiny things.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>We don't want anything to do with your cap dump goalie with 4 YEARS left on his contract! Get that through your head. Vladar gets paid a whole lot less, only has one year left and has played well when he gets the opportunity to start more than once in a while. We'll see how he performs next year after finally getting a nagging injury fixed surgically after playing with it for 2 or 3 years. If he's good we extend him if not we don't it's no big deal.</div></div>
So you’d be ok with an AHL goalie and a goalie who’s not proven anything yet in the NHL? Wolf/Vladar might be the worst tandem in the league if that’s the plan. Ask Buffalo how it went when this time last year they were all convinced Devon Levi would walk into the NHL and dominate.

We have no reason beyond the draft picks to make that deal. We would need a prospect that helps us out not a RHD who would be at best the 3rd RHD.

lets say he is on team which other W is he replacing? keller/schmaltz 1st? crouse/guenther 2nd? maccelli/doan 3rd? heck carcone on 4W has 21 G and Kerfoot (I know playing C now but has been W mostly) has 42pts, so no rakell is not at all needed on the team. C and D oh yeah</div></div>
He would be able to play on the 3rd line of basically every team in the league and probably on the 2nd line for about 10 other teams.
