Another idea
I wasn't sure which second-round pick would make the most sense, so I picked randomly. Scott Powers talked about the Blackhawks moving up in the draft and suggested the Canucks as the best suitable trade partner. Thoughts on something like this happening between the two teams? Canucks save cap space on a long-term contract and the Blackhawks get closer to the cap floor, and get a winger for Bedard

Just a thought
I'm not saying either team should do this, but is it something that could happen at the draft (last time the canucks can trade JT before his NMC kicks in).

If Hamonic opts out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>reelkena</b></div><div>If Hamonic opts out we get about 19 million in space.
Petey is reporting to want 8.5x5
Quinn is gonna get at least 8 but if we want him for longer than 5 years it might be 8.5 also. So that's 17.
So Miller would take every cent we have and also handcuff call ups.
As much as I hate Myers I'd rather go with ...
OEL Myers
Hughes Schenn
Rathbone Poolman
Hunt
And at least see if Luke Schenn can play middle minutes without playing PP.
This is obviously not ideal but neither was Hamonic. We're just trash on the right side either way.
Buff is not taking that package for Miller either way but that's a different issue.
Time to pray to lord Demko</div></div>
ngl i expected this response and i would have given the same answer to somebody else if they created a proposal with the hamonic situation going on. just a thought tbh. we all know bennings tendencies when it comes to being aggressive and needing to want everything right away. thats why he signed hamonic right as soon as free agency opened. I just dont think its right to keep fiding different defensive partners for your franchise defensemen. Demko will have to carry this defence so hard tho. Overall I 100% agree with your reasoning. Myers pisses me off game after game and you hate to see third pairing dmen get paid like that. Im now 100% convinced this team does not know what their priorities are

off season move top 6 winger miller moves to 3C
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>reelkena</b></div><div>Ryan Graves
Marco Scandella (might be bottom pair but his price is worth a shot)
Mattias Ekholm
Ghost (if they retain a bunch)
Mackenzie Weegar
Brett Pesce</div></div>
Ryan graves: plays for a contending team. sakic isn't dumb he will find another way to keep all his men and make Seattle take some AHL player
Scandella: not even top 4 on his own team. bottom pairing 100%
Ekholm: rental. 2022 UFA
Ghost; yes but not worth our first rounder
Weegar: Zito has no business trading away his top pairing dman and second best defensemen
pesce: same theory goes with sakic and graves

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>reelkena</b></div><div>Miller moves to 3c? And where does this guy play?
Cirelli is great but we have centers for days if you want Miller at 3c.
What we need is a top 4 D and nothing else this year. Maybe even less because we can't afford anyone.</div></div>
true I respect your comment. I knew I was gonna get a comment like this so ima explain. obviously the first round pick should be traded for a top 4 man but there aren't any solid top 4 dmen that have term after this season. Cirelli is a top 6 player and it shouldn't be a problem to play him on the wing. overall tho I would prefer trading this pick for a dman but I took advantage of Tampa being cap strapped so I just did this

again no cap space for the Canucks to do this unless Seattle claims Dumba which is stupid for the Canucks because they are essentially trading the 35th overall pick for nothing

benefits both sides
miller has been doing solid defensively so far this year (11 games he played) and Canucks desperately need defence. bruins need scoring since 2 of their middle 9 forwards are out due to injury so them taking Virtanen is not a bad idea for them. plus its a cap dump in the Canucks side which is huge for the upcoming offseason where its another scenario of which players stay and which players go

AN EDIT FROM MY OLD ONE
I absolutely agree but Bratt is an absolute upgrade from Virtanen and Beagle combined. It was just something I had in mind before Virtanen was extended so I just thought I would share. Beagle, Roussel, or Baer has to go because Baer ends in 2021 so there isn't really a point to trade him at this point. Overall though, I agree with you comment
