See my previous reply on Rielly. I actually underpaid Galchenyuk according to EvolvingWild’s model who has him signing a $2.8 million AAV deal for 3 years. If Campbell has another regular season like this past year he’s going to command anywhere from $3-$5mil.

If they can swing a deal for Giroux or Forsberg or whoever, then great. The point is to get out from under him. Nate Schmidt was worth a 3rd round pick (signed a lot longer), but I doubt anyone acquiring an expiring number 3/4 dman is going to be giving up a roster player.

The same narrative floated Washington for years before they broke through. No one thought St Louis could get it done. Pittsburgh was washed. You need a good team AND you need to get lucky to win a Cup. Say what you want, the best team does not win the Cup every year. It happened last year but a 7 game series can flip in an instant. The Leafs ran into a hot goalie in the playoffs and lost to a worse team.

He’s been fine, I just think we have better options. I’d listen to an argument he’d be a better fit than Vesey for the 4th line but if I’m not mistaken Vesey has chewed up some PK time which has value.

Thornton can't keep up in the league anymore. I'd be shocked to see him more than 4th line and PP minutes.

Dubas already came out and said Dermott was playing the right side, chances are he starts off beside Muzzin. Can't call Lehtonen the teams "4th best d-man" when he hasn't played a game in North America.

Vesey didn't sign here to play AHL time. He's a veteran with grit and played with Kerfoot in college. Look for them to start off on the 3rd line together.

With all the moves the team has made, it'd be incredibly shocking to see Robertson make the team outta camp. Unless there's a taxi squad, he'll start somewhere else. Either OHL if there's a season, AHL if there is no OHL, or loaned over to a European team of OHL and AHL aren't starting a season.

Barabanov could say the same thing and I think his game will need more protecting whereas you can trust the 4th line as constructed to play in the D zone. Thornton had a respectable year with awful linemates. He will bounce back if they can find a match for him. I almost had Hyman on his wing and am still curious how that would look given Zach's propensity to retrieve pucks and Thornton's ability to dish them. Perhaps Robrtson on the left and shift Mik beside AM? I'm confident in this regime's willingness to experiment so I'm sure something feasible will materialize.

Not the first I've heard of them considering it. He's been in Andersen's stratosphere numbers wise in the past few years so I'd be comfortable taking him and Campbell into the season as 1a and 1b.

The people that reply to these things are clueless. This is probably the most realistic way the Leafs end up with him, though I think reports of his $9mil price tag are overblown, I could see a $7.5mil deal getting done if the term/signing bonus is right. Perhaps there's a more reliable goaltender out there to re-allocate the resources to if any discount from that number is found. Every team needs 2-4 NHL competent RHD..........
