yea that would be sick. zellweger was such a great value pick for you guys too.. this team will be very good in a couple years

honestly i think he would have been a lot more successful in the NHL this year if he wasn’t tied to nemeth or hajek at the beginning of his career. he looked mature and capable in both ends, he just wasn’t extremely productive in north america until recently in the AHL. i would love to see him get another chance now that nemeth has bounced back a bit but i don’t think it will happen unfortunately

yeah i think that would be the deal for rakell, or at least very close to it. wouldn’t be as exciting for the ducks as nils but if he comes back over then it could turn into a great trade for you guys very quickly

i would hate if the rangers traded nils for a rental, especially if it isn’t pavelski, but that would be great for the ducks

dont need top 6
i agree about our top 6 being fine when kakko returns, but i feel like with our current cap situation and having the best individual seasons from a goalie in a long time we should look for better options than a guy like blackwell. we have a wealth of assets and someone like blackwell doesn’t really move the needle much for us, i just feel like we should look a better options to really shift our offense

okay i'm assuming an offer with nemeth and retention on hagel doesn't work, only could work with one or another. and i understand not having much interest in henriksson to move the needle in any way. i'm just wondering about the hagel retention. i'm assuming a hagel trade signals rebuild, so does the 750k really matter that much? if you retain on hagel and fluery this year you still have two slots open next year, which means toews and kane trades could happen, or debrincat, etc. if one/both of them don't go. i didn't think the retention slot flexibility would be too much of an issue but if it is, is it a straight dealbraker?

i am once again asking
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Montreal is rich in LHD prospects, we are not taking another one. And Kulak without retention costs a 4th.
On a side note the Chicago trade is hilarious, considering Rangers fans like to complain about Lehkonen + Chiarot costing a 1st + Lundkvist + Kravstov! Sure you get to move Nemeth but that should only cost Henricksson, here you are giving up an additional 2nd for a slightly more offensive winger and a slightly worse defenseman. Any Chiarot + Lehkonen trade is equal to any Hagel + De Haan trade.</div></div>
you can have a 4th then. and those trades aren't really as comparable as they seem. hagel is a much better fit for the rangers because of his scoring ability and offensive upside, he provides a finishing ability that the rangers lack outside of a few players while lehkonen doesn't. lehkonen is a great player but the rangers couldn't afford to give up a large portion of their assets to someone who doesn't fill their need for a top/middle six scorer. also, hagel has two additional years left AND team control at the end of the contract, with lehkonen being more expensive and due for a raise on his next deal this summer. hagel's contract is a huge part of what makes him so appealing to me, and lehkonen doesn't have that either. also i would much rather have de haan than chiarot. he's better defensively and on the PK, takes way less penalties, and would be cheap as a 7D. so i don't really think getting upset with that lehk/chiarot offer is outlandish.

challenging deadline- dallas doesnt sell
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mike_Gartner</b></div><div>i get it. he is a young, cheap workhorse option. i am not discrediting the player himself.
the point i am trying to make is that teams don't give up the equivalent of 3 first round picks, a 3rd and a b/c prospect for a guy who plays the middle 6.
if Chicago's ask is a 1st and a prospect - that is their homerun ask. there isn't much motivation to move him out of Chicago, he is only 23.
if there is leaguewide buzz around this guy, my guess is that he gets a 1st and a middle tier prospect.
no reason for the Rangers to overpay here. the above is more than the Toffoli trade</div></div>
i definitely get what you’re saying, there’s a lot of value going back in return and it’s probably more than what chicago gets back in return. in my head this wouldn’t be far off from similar trades that we’ve already seen (coleman/goodrow to tampa) but it is still a lot to give up. i just think that this would be a better use of assets compared to an older rental given the current roster makeup of this team, although i don’t think it would necessarily cost this much in the end

i actually based this off the coleman trade, so we’re basically on the same page. in my mind it’s a similar move, but with a bit bigger return considering hagel would be younger, cheaper, and potentially better than coleman (at least scoring wise) at the time while having more term on his contract and still being under team control at the end of the deal. so yeah it would probably make a lot of people mad but i think it would pay off

this isn't how trades work.</div></div>
his value is so high because of what he brings within the context of his contract and team control. a versatile middle six forward who would score 30+ goals in a full season on our second line that would be getting paid 750k for two seasons after this one would be exactly what this team needs. opting to play him on the third line with a fully healthy lineup and him being a "gritty" player doesn't change his value to the blackhawks or make him any less valuable for us. i'm paying the asking price plus a little more because i'm not giving up the best prospect plus the multi-year retention, which means i'm not really giving up more than what his value is. if you have a trade that you think is a better use of these same assets (none of which are currently being used by this team) then i would love to see it, but i think this is one of our better options

above average middle-sixer at the league minimum for 2+ seasons during a cap crunch for a contending team that desperately needs depth scoring. can play all situations and brings more of the "gritty" play style that drury wants while still being a net positive in all areas of the ice. yes it is a lot to give up for one 3rd liner, but it keeps the contention window open and provides cap flexibility while still returning a good player for assets that are seemingly out regardless.

it’s not really an overpay at all for a player of his caliber, plus he could be even more valuable if he wanted to come back short term

chytil and gauthier create lots of scoring chances, they are just unbelievably bad at finishing them. i’m pretty sure gauthier is one of the unluckiest players in the league in terms of GAx, so i shuffled the lines around to get those two opportunities with better finishing talent. the idea would be to roll three balanced lines, so pavelski being there doesn’t mean much. i’m just trying to think of different options for the team. and that PP2 is the normal PP2 when healthy except pavelski is in for chytil.
