Really solid explanations and the ideas make sense to a point. Can't see the Hawks signing Olafsson though. He is a FAR TOO one dimensional player. Hawks can find a much better option. I'd rather try Joey Anderson in that spot than Olafsson or bring back Kubalik as a UFA. At least Kubalik throws a check once in a while. I'm fine w/ acquiring Schmidt, but Gustafsson isn't a player the Hawks would want. Hawks already have several guys with similar skills to Gustafsson. No need to add another. I'd rather re-sign Blackwell or Reese Johnson than take on Gustafsson. If that's the best deal the Jets offer to take Schmidt, Hawks pass and go the free agent route.

I mean... I'm open to moving Kurashev, but Lundestrom doesn't even come close to a package CHI should be willing to consider.

This is definitely one of those "stick to your own team" moments. From the looks of it, you haven't watched a single hawks game.

A 4th rounder for Bahl is good value for sure. But the Hawks aren't the right trade partner. Tampa Bay, among others, probably jumps at that.

The hawks are stacked on the left side of defense with young players and prospects, so as much of a good deal this is, I don't see them doing it

I've been thinking maybe we try them on the right and don't sign someone. Hopefully on of Vlasic, KK, Kaiser, EDM can play the right side

Next year can be even better
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>What a hot take. How many times has he been suspended in 3 years? How many bone crushing hits has he thrown in those 3 years that have had people like yourself in tears because you think it’s dirty</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fox_Czar_Cup</b></div><div>TMZ hot take here.
He's not very fluid cause of his size & handles the puck like a grenade yet all he does is mentor, with hard minutes & imposing presence. He lifts the team & scares opponents with his legal bone crunching hits & league best timing.
Goon, he is not lol</div></div>
What is your point here? I am not trying to give you some hot take, I am being objective, and he makes a lot questionable and objectively dirty goony/scumbag plays on the ice. That is just a fact. It has nothing to do with how I personally feel about him or whether I personally would like a player like that on my team. In fact, I think he seems like a pretty good dude off the ice and certainly does play a style that is desirable to the right teams in the right situation. It has to do with the kind of roster, play-style, and culture, Kyle Davidson is trying to build in CHI, and I don't think the way Trouba plays would fit his vision.
Honestly, I never really thought he fit with the Rangers either. I think they were trying to force some gritty tough guy identity into a lineup filled with motor and skill, and got the balance all wrong, which lead to NYR missing out on a large portion of their window of contention. I think there were other ways the Rangers could've added grit to the lineup without trading valuable assets for and committing such a large portion of their cap to him. And, on a similar note, although I do like Panarin in their lineup, I think that by rushing things and shoe-horning Panarin and Trouba into the lineup they artificially put their rebuild on the back burner and messed with the development of some of their prized prospects, possibly screwing some of them up beyond repair, and burying others in depth that will be difficult for them to overcome, forcing them into roles that they shouldn't be in.
I'm not crying about anything. I just don't think he fits with CHI unless he is willing to pivot from a tough guy contender mentality, to more of a mentor role. Which is not something I see him being willing to do at this stage of his career. Considering he has a 15 team No Trade List, I'd be willing to bet CHI is on it.

Good job, Wadejos123! I might deploy some players a bit differently (e.g., I'd look to keep Richardson at 3-C), but as the team currently stands, this is a good look.
I might also seek to weaponize our cap space to help certain teams cope with cap constraints or other needs, in exchange for useful, short-term players and more high-end picks (say, players like Anders Lee from NYI, along with maybe Nate Schmidt and Alex Iafallo from WPG.)
I'd also look to add an elite, experienced winger to play with Bedard, as Hall's ability to stay healthy concerns me at this stage of his career... For example, I'd love for the Hawks to sign UFA Marchessault for big bucks on a two-year deal (even up to $9mm to $10mm AAV), for Bedard's RW.
Cheers

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gunmars</b></div><div>Then keep him. If they are going after a bonafide #1 Dman he isn't going to be 29 years old and traded for 3 years early in their Michkov timeline. Flyers want to get younger and build through draft. They easily wait out Ristos contract for 3 more years and draft with the second round pick rather than taking on a 29 year old with 6 more years at 9.5 million. The move just doesn't make sense for the Flyers right now, it's not about Jones, it's about the Flyers current plans.</div></div>
Definitely. I want to keep him, and that is the plan as I understand it. Plus, he has an NMC. It's fair weather fans that don't know what they are talking about who want to move him.

The Jones trade to CHI might be one of the worst trades in the last 10 years.
Gave up a 6OA, a 12OA to get mediocre Jones and a 32OA.
This what happens when mediocre players get their name built up.
That 9.5 mil contract is unmovable.
Guy is probably the most beneficial player to hide his poor play behind Bob the wall at the peak of his career.</div></div>
Honestly, I would rather have Jones than Risto and a 2nd. It doesn't matter that we overpaid in the Jones trade or that his cap hit is $1 or 2M higher than it should be, it matters what he is as a player and what he is worth to CHI. CHI is not dumping or selling low on Jones and we are content to have him finish his contract in CHI. He already looks WAYYY better just having a consistently competent D partner in Vlasic, let alone how he will look in a couple years when CHI's rebuild starts coming together and we start winning again. He is a bonafide 1RD, and there is no doubt about that. Not to mention, you could remove Jones from the deal and I still probably wouldn't take Risto's contract on for a 2nd round pick. I don't trust that contract to age well, at all, and it's already looking not good for Risto and there are plenty of PHI fans who seem to want him off their team.

The Hawks top 4 on the left side is set w/ Vlasic and Korchinski. Plus they have Kaiser and DelMastro on the left side as well. And Krug's days of being a top 4 guy are behind him. His defensive play has fallen off a cliff the past 2 seasons. While the 1st would be nice to have, Krug fills no need at all for the Hawks. $20m is a lot to spend for a mid round 1st in a freakish draft. Hawks decline.

GM - gone. Director of Amateur Scouting - gone. Head European Scout - gone. I'm sure others had input but those were the guys calling the shots when it came to selecting a European prospect.
Hawks want to build their blue line to mimic Vegas, LA, Nashville. Big body, mobile guys who like to play a physical style and who block a ton of shots. That doesn't exactly sound like Joki to me.

All 3 people involved in the decision to draft Joki are gone. Hawks won't pay a 2nd for Joki. He isn't the type of player the Hawks want on their blue line going forward.

I liked Joker when he was here and was beyond upset when he was traded for Alex freaking Nylander but I think his value has slowly dropped over the last couple of years. You might get a 2nd for him from another team but I'm 99.9% sure Chicago wouldn't be interested.
