I know. Very true. That's just it. Well, I called it my dream team for a reason. Lol.

That's fair. He definately had a down year, but he makes a very good second pairing and maybe a first pairing if he continues growing.

That's fair. York and Foerster are both great prospects and I think would fill some needs. But Tkachuk is a great player too!

Yep. You have to give up something to get something.

Turn the Corner
Your would probably have to send one of the first as well to get Trouba. Couldn't see how to add it. This is a beast of a team and sets us up long term financially.

Flyers starting roster?
where is Lindblom? I personally think Gudas goes next to Provorov on the right side, Morin left of Gostisbehere, and Sanheim next to MacDonald. I don't know if it will be left or right of him. Morin isn't going to ride the pine if he is going to be in the NHL. Manning is my favorite to take the bench warming position as is Read. I think Laughton will be on the 4th line with Lehtera. Vecchione will be in LV and Weise will be up on the third line with Couturier. No way Konecny is on the 4th line. Probable on the left side of Couturier. Not sure where Raffl goes, but he should be on the bottom 6.

Looking ahead
I love Simmonds, but he will likely ask for a 7-8 year deal with a massive AAV since he is on a sweetheart deal now. He will be 31 in the first year of his new contract! Scary! Unless he is willing to take a cut in pay from what he could get, I don't see Hextall signing Simmonds to a long term big money deal. We should be able bring in a player that we would need then, Like Trouba or even Doughty or a forward if that is what we need to get over the hump. Bottom line is, we likely have the cap space to pay a good team for many years. That's is great!

Yes, I know. My contracts were on the high end of what I see possible and my lines and defense combinations and goalies are not set in stone obviously. I have the salary cap as stagnant as well. A lot can change between now and then. The purpose was to see about how much money we would potentially have to sign our own free agents and perhaps trade for a player that might require a large salary.

Tinkering
I think you are correct in that Weal will likely start out with G and V, but I hope that Lindblom will work his way to the top like by the end of the season. Not sure that Provorov/MacDonald will be the "veteran" pairing next year. Again, I am hoping this is the lineup at some point during the year and into the playoffs. Hagg might well make it above Morin, but I think Morin's skill set will be more valuable for the team than Hagg's. Same with Sanheim assuming they have good camps. I think Hagg will be the call up in case of injury.

Yea, I think the team will have a whole different look next year. They may do some things that are unexpected to a lot of people.

Trade with Dallas
Yea, I was kind of juggling around that bottom pairing. I wouldn't mind signing Manning, but you have to expose at least one defenseman to expansion draft who has played i believe 40 games in 2016-17 season or 70 games in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons. The other defensemen we would either want to protect, will be free agants, or have ELCs. I was thinking today about how great it would be if we could have a team and farm with all UFAs, ELCs, and protected players except for MacDonald so that Vagas is forced to take him. Haha. I'll dream on. I was assuming Morin would make it by the trade deadline. Maybe send MacDonald down and bring up Morin when Macdonald gets his 70 games in. Honestly, I forgot about cousins. You can probably send Leier back to the phantoms or forget about the White signing. I was thinking Dallas would want a second and I know they are looking for a top 4 and a bottom pairing D-man. Streit can play both roles depending on how good or bad their defense will be next year.

Trades With MIN and DAL
Del Zotto would get a lot more than a 4th pick. I wouldn't mind having Brodin replace Streit on the right side long term, but I'm not sure how productive Vanek is going to be at his age going forward with his cap hit being so high. I would just keep Schenn at a lower cap hit and see if one of the young studs (Provorov or Sanheim) could replace Streit later in the year near the deadline, again at a lower cap hit. This does very little to sure up the bottom six, which would change the whole complexion of the forwards if we did.

Help!
I don't know why everyone wants the Flyers to sign Brouwer so much. I get that he is big and physical and can produce some points, but he will be 31 at the start of next season and will likely be overpaid by a lot by whomever signs him.

Philly trade
It's good for Chicago, but I don't think Philly would want to trade one of their top defensive prospects for a couple of middle six guys and a cap dump.
