<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>I love how you just gloss over the last 4 years before this one like they just suddenly don't exist. Gallagher had 4 straight years of putting up 30 goals or being on pace for 30 goals (shortened seasons). Zuckers previous 4 seasons were on pace for 20 ish goals and neither one missed huge chunks of time in due to injury. Zucker played 38 out 56 games last season (18 games missed), 60 out of 69 (9 games missed), 2 seasons before that were 81 and 82 games. Gallagher played 35 out of 56 games (21 games missed), the season before he played 59 out of 71 games (12 games missed) the 2 seasons before that he played all 82 games. So in short Gallagher is the more prolific scorer so yeah he has more value. You realize that Gallagher played with Danault and Tatar most of the time right?! Neither of them were ever in the same league as Crosby or Malkin either, they were more on par with ERod and Kapanen and yet he still put up 30+ goals. So yeah I will still take 5 years of Gallagher over 1 year of Zucker.</div></div>

It's a what have you done for me lately business. Danault and Tatar are miles better than ERod. And arguable better than Kapanen; at the very least a hell of a lot more consistent.

Jason Zucker over the last 85 games (his whole time in Pittsburgh, just over 2 seasons)
85 GP 21 G 23 A 44 PTS 2.07 pts/60

Brendan Gallagher over the last 80 games (last 2 seasons)
80 GP 20 G 21 A 41 PTS 2.1 pts/60

So just an FYI over the past 2 or so seasons they have basically the same stats. So if Zucker with 1 year left at 5.5 is bad, then Gallagher at 6.5 for 5 more seasons is god awful. And you basically make it even more in the favor that Zucker is the better contract situation by making the point that as injury prone Zucker has been the last 2 years, Gallagher has been even more injury prone. And with the way Gallagher plays, thats typical and only going to get worse each year.
