Fact is, getting those 1st pairing minutes with TOR best offensive players shouldn't you be getting more production out of him?
I mean come on, I've asked this repeatedly, Why are his numbers all down. We've gone with he's now magically a "defensive defenseman" which is just pure BS at best.
What else do you have?
I mean really what does it say for Matheson, when you say he doesn't have real help, and he's out pacing your guy?</div></div>
Would you trade Dumoulin for Brodie, all the arguments are using against brodie could be said the same to Dumo. Im literally a pens fan

I don't get it either. To me Brodie and Dumoulin are the same player, both are #2 Dman to elite offensive defensiveman, both play shutdown defensive roles as there partners like to pinch. Both have embarrassingly bad shots LOL. Only difference would be Brodies a better skater, and Dumo is bigger. I'm a pens fan who lives in southern ontario so all I watch the Leafs fairly often, and the argument that matheson is better is just a incorrect argument. He does have some moments of brilliance followed by many moments of just poor defensive play.

You guys are literally comparing a guy who plays 3rd pair sheltered minutes who plays no special teams to a 1st pair shutdown dman. Brodie has 2 D partners his whole career Reilly and Giordano... Matheson most common partner this year is Ruwhedel. There is a reason for this.

How a 40 pt defensemen magically becomes a "defensive defenseman" is funny. But go on. Explain how a guy who use to be consistent 40-30 points now is struggling to crack 20. On a team with a high powered offense.</div></div>
What are you on about with point production from defensive dman. Would you trade Dumoulin for Matheson? I'm a pens fan and I think your dead wrong on your take. Brodie was literally the Leafs best player in the playoffs last year

dude use to be a 40 point player. His last 3 years a 20 point player. Hell this year he's barely on pace to break 20 points. 20.9 Last year 1 goal.
31 year old defensemen with clearly declining stats.
Meanwhile Mathesons play been improving every year for the last 3 years, and the guy has been on 10+ goal paces from the blue line every one of them.
He posted this thinking everyone was just going to go Brodie LOL man anyone even looking at the production know this ain't even close.</div></div>
This is like judging Dumo on his point totals...

Zucker is roasted on here alot more than he deserves though. His market value according to Dom's cards is 5 mil, so why trade him for a guy worth .8 Mil more yet makes 3 mil more and 2 firsts.

if you are trading for Jake Voracek because you need goal-scoring, then you are trading for the wrong player. https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2022/02/15122029/Screen-Shot-2022-02-15-at-12.15.51-PM.png</div></div>
Yeah fair enough, he's never been a goal scorer. But if we're taking in a guy worth 5.7 (according to your link) who makes 8.3 I just don't think your getting 2 firsts. Toffoli is a younger and better player, making half as much, and MTL got a 1st and a 2nd

I'd be willing to take Zucker as a dump, try and flip him elsewhere.
I'd counter to keep Kappy, change the picks to two 1sts. We keep Robinson, maybe retain slightly on Jake to make the cap work. I don't really know much about PIT's prospects, other than their farm system doesn't project to have a lot of high-end talent, but I'd imagine CBj would want one of Poulin or VP.</div></div>
two firsts? Toffoli just went for a 1st and a 2nd. Your not getting two firsts for a guy with 2 goals this year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>3?! That is a joke but it doesn’t happen anyway because Vlasic won’t waive to move there. Plus the sharks are in no position to be selling assets anyway.</div></div>
Yeah fair enough. If Im SJS I would keep him because they suck and dont need the cap space, but to get rid of him it'd cost 3 first imo. 35 Million is alot of remaining cap space for a 3rd line 34 yr old Dman. Could buy him out and have to pay him til the year 2030 aswell.<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>San Jose won't have to pay ANYTHING to move Vlasic because they have no need to move him. They have $21 million in cap space next year and 11 roster slots open, including the one left by Hertl. Even if they are able to re-sign Hertl, and it costs them up to $9 million AAV, that still leaves $12 million for 10 guys, and they have almost that many minimum-contract RFAs and ELCs to promote that will fill those spots.</div></div>
Fair argument, but I think his value is - 2-3 1st round picks if you were to move him

really??? I'd say Habs no brainer decline. A protected 1st isn't worth 35 million in cap space. SJS would have to make it 3 1st to get rid of Vlasic

Malkin will take a discount from his current contract of 9.5 Million. Matters what a discount is in his mind 2 Million? 3 Million? 4 Million? who knows. Rust could probably get 7+ on the open market so Pens will be lucky for under 6.5 (may have to give him 7 or 8 years to bring down his number). Rust I can't see taking a discount just because dudes never been paid, and has been underpaid the last few years. Letang apparently wants like 9 to 9.5 like the rest of the #1 dman so who knows. Either way it will be tight.
