You might be right but at this point speculating about who ends up where in the draft lottery is silly. Who knows.

A Offseason Trade I would bet money on happening
This makes sense, it's time for MTL to move on. But it might be more than minor pick movement to incentivize ARI to take it. I know ARI is an LTIR dumping ground but MTL is still asking another franchise to do them a favor, so.

Anything with a 1st is at least tempting but man, Campbell's contract is just so bad. So is Campbell.

Updated Playoff Lines
Well if COL fails in the playoffs it's certainly not going to be for a lack of depth, not after this flurry of moves.
The playoffs are always a crapshoot but this lineup is the kind that could get it done.

Also not 100% clear he can really get more on the open market. He's aging and one-dimensional. I'm a massive fan of the guy but let's not fool ourselves into thinking he's still a top-10 elite superstar.

I wouldn't rule it out; the guy has made so much money in this league he probably thinks more about where he wants to be than $$$$ at this point.
If he's happy in DET he could very well take $9m over 2 years.

Trade deadline for a cup run
CHI wants Foligno around, hence the extension. The only way I see them moving him is if someone overpays (eg a 1st or top prospect) and I doubt BOS wants to give up a package like that for Nick Foligno.

Hard to imagine Ottawa wants two late 1sts badly enough to take a guy who makes more, has more term, and is the worse of the two players.

The returns
2 x 2m for a guy who's best suited on the fourth line will cost a lot more to move than two 7ths.
Seems like Sheary makes more sense for a contender as a playoff depth piece.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>klassic</b></div><div>Way to sell him on the Hawks fans here. Hawks would be more likely to use picks at draft to trade up to get the player they covet.</div></div>
The idea that another team hands over assets for a guy TOR fans are ready to write off is already silly, but saying it out loud takes the bit to a new level. Great stuff.

Yeah it feels like the window for taking on guys who are (close to) pure salary dumps will close this summer. At some point you have to put the younger guys out there and leave them on the ice.

The source for the rumor that CHI, or anyone, offered a 1st for that guy is "people on the internet made it up."
Let's see if he can avoid the AHL for one whole season before you decide he's a hot commodity around the league.

It boils down to how much they think one more 2nd rounder is worth, and my guess is "not $6,000,000"

Could see CHI taking mediocre veteran forwards but I think they might be ready to just let the kids play at D.
VAN shouldn't have too much problem moving Poolman though, he's not terrible and his contract is not outrageous.
