<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>The season before Toews got sick he had a fantastic year, and the year before that he had a career season. He missed <strong>AN ENTIRE YEAR AND A HALF</strong>, not working out, not skating, not playing at all, and then came back and put up 40 points in 21-22 on a CHI team that was playing awful hockey for most of the season. Most of which came in the second half/third of the season when he got his wind back started to get back in the groove and was playing at a 60+ point pace. If he plays anything like he did in the second half of last season, he should easily put up 60 points, win 60% of his faceoffs, and be able to shut down high end players. Considering all of that plus 50% retention, he should EASILY be worth a late 1st round pick or multiple assets of comparable value. So, if we can find a third party to retain another $2.625M of his cap hit and he is playing well, there is no reason it shouldn't be that much more enticing of an add for serious teams, even as a rental. This whole narrative that he is "washed" is just people looking at his stat line from 21-22 and thinking they know what they are talking about. But I think he is going to surprise everyone this year. In fact, I think the whole team is gonna surprise a lot of people this year in general. Which actually scares me, because we probably need to get significantly worse if we want a serious shot at a top 3 pick.</div></div>
I feel like you are proving our point. He missed a ton of time and at his age, he isn’t getting any better by not playing hockey. I don’t think many people have the same belief you do about the hawks being better than people think.
