Trade winipeg (Good Trade ?)
Perreault would be an excellent addition on the 2nd wing: over the last 3 seasons he posted possession stats of a top-tier 1st liner.

Experimental trades - need comments guys!
Why would the habs go for a trade up? 9th pick will be good enough of a player, most likely as good as 4th pick. Beaulieu is cheap and reliable, why would you trade him? Also, I don't believe Yakupov is the type of the player that helps to win a championship.

My Habs
2016-17 roster looks great, but there's an elephant in the room: unless high cost-low return pieces are traded before next season, you'll end up cap strapped. You'll have about 6M$ (Markov's expiring contract) to ink Galchenyuk, Beaulieu and a top-pairing LD.

My take on the MTL
The return on Subban is very tempting, but you won't win a cup without one top-tier possession-driving d-man. Look at past winners. None of the available UFA could compensate the loss.

playoff
Not gonna happen. Looks like a massive overpay for a pick swap - not to mention that Dubois could end up being available at 9th. Plus if you land that trade and Stamkos doesn't sign, you've weakened the team.

Agree, but I don't think Boedker is a player the Habs should target. A possession-driving vet (e.g. Versteeg, Hartnell) would be a better fit.

Montreal Canadian Realistic trade
Agree with dgab: MB hasn't made one blockbuster trade in 4 yrs, he likely won't pull 2 in the same offseason. Also: Johnson as Markov's heir? I doubt he can step in as a top pairing D. Getting Hartnell is a good idea.

Like these additions. 7M$ for Eriksson is too much and 3M$ for Perron is not enough, but 10M$ is about what it would cost to nab both. You're over the cap?

Offseason Moves
Fully agree with theroux. Mitchell and DD are useful players, giving them away doesn't add value to the roster.

2016-17
I really like the idea of bringing in Lucic. He's a very capable 2nd liner, good a generating shots, he's also big, gritty and quite young. Not so sure about Weise, though. He's a subpar scoring winger (look at his shot suppression stats, not so much of a good defender).

2016-17 Roster
Perron is less of an effective playmaker but has slightly better possession stats, plus he would come in 1.5M/yr cheaper. That's sizeable money you'll need in next offseason to give due raises to Galchenyuk and Beaulieu.

Look at analytics. Boedker is a subpar 2nd liner. Perron or Eriksson would be wiser choices.

Total dreamland here... Core makeover hasn't proved anything but to be an ineffective tactic to build championship teams. Gainey tried it in the summer of 2009, with the results that we know.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>theroux</b></div><div><i>You're over the cap?</i></div></div> You're right, didn't see that. Like the idea proposed by MountRoyal: hire Perron. No need for Eriksson, cap problem solved.

Why parting with Parenteau? He's not that expensive, skilled enough to play 1st/2nd line and younger than St-Louis.
