Drouin is getting moved because Tampa can't afford him... but they can afford to take on a top pairing right hand D???? yeah, that makes sense, what are they gonna pay this top pairing Rd with? They have no cap space!

Ha Ha, sorry so Colorado trades away a Top 5 Pick to Vancouver for Ben Hutton that's a great deal to? 3rd pairing Dman always draw Top 5 Picks in recent drafts :applaud Markstrom is signed for 3 years and will play out those years with Demko as a mentor, you don't sign the guy for great value at 3.6 than trade him the next year to MAPLE LEAFS LOL who have ANDERSON SIGNED FOR 5 YEARS! Really?
And again Burrows doesn't sign for 4.5, he doesn't demand a 2nd Round Pick, Gaunce doesn't get 1.2 million with 0 goals, Horvat doesn't get 4 years at 4 million, Trymakin plays on Left Side, why would they trade Stetcher they found a guy they didn’t expect to be where he’s at right now. You really need to do your math on Stetcher. So many things wrong with this post I could go all day.</i></div></div>
It's Hutton AND A 2ND, not just Hutton. And Colorado may not be a top 5 pick next year, they were first in their division 3 years ago with a lot of the same core, they could rebound, it's a roll of the dice. A top 4 d-man under 24 years old and a 2nd should get you something decent in return (see Yandle deal, Taylor Hall deal, etc). I guess it has to be pointed out to you for A THIRD TIME that Burrows is already signed for 4.5 and was traded at the deadline, I did not sign him for 4.5!!! Stecher is a -5 this year and will never be anything more than a powerplay specialist. If you had watched any Canucks games this year, you'd have noticed that Tryamkin is playing the right side since Edler, Sbisa and Hutton are on the left. I'll admit Markstrom may be more $$ than Toronto wants in a backup, but that's the only part of you're uninformed nonsense that even for a moment makes me think you watch the canucks

Wow, congrats, you made a team that is exactly like this years team except you plugged a couple of rookies into the lineup who may or may not make the team. That must have taken a lot of hard thought and creativity to come up with the exact team they have now... except Tolvanen won't be in the NHL next year. Somehow Subban makes this team, and you bring back Burrows for 2 Million per????? This is just a worse version of the team on the ice tonight. Good job making them better, you've really figured out what the point of the armchair gm is. Why even make this team?

Just curious, would you rather make that deal with tampa, losing Juolevi, Tanev and a 1st, or wait and see if Drouin becomes an RFA and make an offer sheet for him and give up a 1st 2nd and 3rd?

Both backups are better??? are you kidding... Haha Neuvirth with his .859 SV% ... Philly has some of the worst goaltending in the NHL, and only Arizona, Colorado and Winterpeg have allowed more goals against. Sure Stolarz looks good now, but Jim Carey won a Vezina once upon a time too.

Terrible trade for Canucks for the rights to Shattenkirk, only matched by the terrible trade for NJD for the rights to Shattenkirk. Can't see Arizona nearly that much for a back up goalie? If they wanted one, they can get one for free.</i></div></div>
Miller will be 37 this off-season, nobody will give him a three year deal. He'll probably be a buyout or will retire before the 3 years is up. Of course it's an overpayment for Drouin, but the Canucks need to overpay for free-agents (See Eriksson), otherwise they don't come to the west. Shattenkirk will be the only big name free-agent this year, there may be multiple teams interested, a 1st rounder might be the going rate to get first crack at him. Right handed d-men don't grow on trees. Markstrom is very close to being a starter, his numbers are strong this year.
For someone who's most likely never seen a Canucks game, Palhal sure loves to rate their players.

Re-tool now, re-build after the sedins retire
It's so annoying having to explain the obvious to ppl... If the going rate keeps true based on the Larsson/Hall trade, then Tanev is more than fair value for Larkin. Larkin is no Taylor Hall.
The Sanheim trade is for Drouin's rights, not for Drouin. He's an RFA after this season, and they may not be able to sign him. They risk losing him for what will probably be a 1st and a 3rd in compensation. They could end up with a mid or low 1st rounder, or know what they're getting in return (sandheim).

2017/18 re-tool
For 8 million per, Shattenkirk should sign in China.
Miller at 2 million per over six years is basically cap circumvention, and will end up being a cheap buyout at the end. He OBVIOUSLY won't play for 6 more years...
Provorov is being exchanged for a former 1st round pick power forward, an upgrade in goaltending, and a high second round pick. Philly has a plethora of young D-men coming through the ranks, and won't be able to accommodate all of them, some will have to be moved, and that package is fair value.
I still maintain Tampa will not be able to afford to keep Drouin with their cap situation. Of course they don't want to trade him, but they may see him walk away for nothing.
I don't' know why I even acknowledge Palhal anymore, obviously never even seen a canucks game.
Did anyone notice I slid Nolan Patrick in there too??? no comments on that????

Re-Tool and stay competitive
Detroit is at the cap limit already and have 8 players to re-sign next year including a big raise to Tatar, so no, they won't be signing Shattenkirk anytime soon. Tanev's contract is much more reasonable.
Miller will be splitting the time with Demko. Just because he's on the top on this page, doesn't mean he's getting any more games than Demko is. And sure he's making 2 million per, but for 6 years, so that's 12 million total for a guy who's only got a couple of years left. A very palatable buyout which will work for both the team and Miller.
Sanheim isn't just a prospect, he's a 1st round pick defenceman in his fist year of pro who will probably be an NHL defenceman next year. St. Louis also has 8 free agents looking for new deals, and will have to pay Parayko a pretty hefty raise. They also have $900k in cap space currently, so that should be no problem right? I'm sure the cap will go up by 10 million.
Do your homework

Nux Rebuild
As a Canucks fan, I say there's no way the canucks let Edler go for a B prospect and middle second rounder. Why get rid of Hansen for a couple of lottery tickets? He's got a great cap hit, he's not that old, and he's a heart and soul guy. Also, Nolan Patrick can't make 3 Million in his first season, he'd be on an entry level.

Changed a couple of the trades to make it more realistic... this gives the canucks over 5 mill in cap space, and with miller not likely to re-sign after this season, will give them over 11 million to re-sign a few young players (Horvat, Daisaitl, Gudbransson, Hutton, Tryamkin). Demko will be backup at rookie max.
