I really don’t know if that’s true with Gustafsson, at least with how he’s played this year in this system, with this defensive core. I don’t know if anyone gives up more than a 2nd for him at this point

D Sucks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>graderman</b></div><div>LA’s cap issues may manifest next year. For instance with this roster, overage bonuses may be in excess of $2.2M alone, or around the presumed cap increase. Doughty has a $4M increase kicking in. Eight other guys will need contracts as well. Similar to Toronto, the Kings have big decisions forthcoming. Unlike the Leafs, their future doesn’t appear to be as bright, unfortunately.</div></div>
I completely agree. I was STUNNED when they sign Ilya K. They're already old, slow, and cap tight...so they got older...slower...and closer to the cap ceiling. LA will be a dumpster fire in no time. ALSO, because they're consistently ranked as having the worst farm system in the NHL. IMO, that's actually the biggest problem of all.

OTT and MTL trades
I wouldnt mind Duchene or Dzingel but hawks would need to trade more and it might be better to just wait when both are free agents. No ones taking manning unless we give them something. I like Shaw but theres no point in trading Beaudin after we just drafted him. He looks fantastic. MTL doesnt trade potential lotto pick and Id rather the hawks keep their first.

Yep, he's on the flight. My inside info say his folks were pissed that Willy wasn't paying any rent at home and were eating their groceries. So he's gone to Switzerland to work as a picker on a farm. He's going to picking Swiss cheese and chocolate.

Faulk and Duchene
I would be willing to give up a first for Duchene. Maybe do a conditional, originally a 2nd but becomes a 1st if he resigns. I think the hawks would be capable of resigning him. He would be a great fit for the 2nd line and Schmaltz can finally play wing. I would personally like to add Dzingel as well but not to sure what that would look like. I would like to hold onto Sikura but if it helps bring Duchene and Dzingel I would be for it.
Don't think the Carolina trade goes through until Saad becomes his normal self. His value is very low right now.
I wouldn't mind holding on to Gustaffson for now.

What hopefully happens if nylander finally signs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>graderman</b></div><div>Me too, bud! I remember crying in 1971 when the Chicago Blackhawks lost to Montreal in the SCF. I was six years old! I don’t recall my emotions in ‘73 with the same result but I was hurt again in ‘92 when they were swept by Pittsburgh. So, obviously, I have been thrilled with their recent 3 Wins in six years! And throughout their resurgence to the pinnacle of the NHL <em>as an insider</em>, I, too, became fascinated with them as well as many other teams in how they are built and constructed. Toronto, an O6 team, has not won in over 50 years of their storied history. That drought appears to potentially be over with how things stand this season. In the hard cap era, Toronto has put forth an incredible offensive group that hasn’t been seen in decades. Can they sustain their present pace? If they can also come to a reasonable bridge contract with Nylander (even 2 years would be okay), the sky is the limit!</div></div>
The sky really is the limit for the Leafs. Their offensive firepower is mind-boggling. I knew they'd be good when they signed Tavares, but they lead the league in goals for by a huge margin (8 freaking goals!!!!). You add in Nylander and look out you have easily the best forward group in the league. I'd be absolutely shocked if the Leafs don't win at least 1 cup in the next 5 years.

What hopefully happens if nylander finally signs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>graderman</b></div><div>Great observation! This is what I wish happened for the Hawks with Saad in ‘15. He was due but Chicago was mired in Cap hell at the time. Actually, I believe Columbus overpaid by $2M as well. Back to Toronto, it boils down to if Nylander really, truly wants to be a Leaf! He said he does but now is most concerned about himself. He has little to no leverage, business-wise, in his present negotiations. After Marleau is off their books, they can take care of Willy. In the meantime, he can sign his bridge deal and maybe become a two time Cup winner like Saad (different circumstance) before he gets that big payday.</div></div>
Exactly! The guy is incredibly talented so betting on himself with a bridge deal to get a big payday in a couple years surrounded with the talent of Matthews, Marner, Tavares, and Kadri is anything but a bad idea. I can see why Dubas wouldn't want to do this, though, since he'll have to go through this negotiation all over again after Nylander enters his prime. It's such a tough situation and I understand where both sides are coming from. Nylander wants a fair deal and while $8M is probably $1M or so too much right now I think that could be a bargain for the potential he has down the line. Dubas wants to keep his studs together and start a dynasty which is hindered if Nylander takes up $8M in space. As an outsider I'm fascinated by this whole scenario.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckPal</b></div><div>Thats fine by me Leivo and Johnsson are about the same right now in how their playing my thought was with Johnsson upside the might be more intriguing to MIN. We will have to see how this turns out with Nylander rumour is they are trying to hammer out a bridge deal between 4-5 million per so if thats true and matthews and marner leave a bit on the table for the depth players we'll be fine but your right this is going to be a very interesting offseason for the leafs.</div></div>
Agreed. I think a bridge deal for Nylander is the best option at this point. Toronto will have to pay more money down the road but that would come after Marleau is off the books. Leafs have a ton of RFA's to pay next summer, Dubas is going to be a very busy man. I really don't see the Leafs moving Nylander but I'd be incredibly disappointed if they did and we weren't the team that traded for him. He's perfect for us in every aspect.

He’s one of those overpaid players, by a million or so, but really should be more productive than he has shown since his return to the Blackhawks. I agree, he doesn’t have a lot of trade value. In the Hawks surprising start this young season, Saad is still a disappointment. Maybe playing a bottom 6 role is what he will benefit from.</div></div>
He just looks so unmotivated on the ice. His speed isn't there, his drive isn't there, he's just kinda there. No will, no frustration. I feel like he's going to be moved eventually to fix up the D core (which is already overpopulated)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>graderman</b></div><div>That’s right. I am pleased with Jokiharju’s progress thus far. I hope he keeps up the good work and stays out of Q’s doghouse. They do have some very nice pieces in the pipeline as well as those who made the team out of camp. The future doesn’t appear to be as barren as I thought a few weeks ago. I still think they are a bubble team this season, but would greatly benefit with a healthy Crawford especially. They also somehow have to get the enigma Saad going every night which would be huge. Time tends to sort most things out.</div></div>
Completely agree. I also like the Entwistle signing. He doesn't have the high end talent, but it's nice to see that we ended up with something promising out of the Hossa trade. I hope he makes it in the next year or two

Kronwalls the last thing PHI needs
they have 5/6 D as left shots and Sanheim forced to play bottom D pair because of it so if they acquire any D it will be a righty as they've never felt comfortable with Morin and Myers is like 2 years from being NHL ready as he's a big big big lad and his skating is getting there but still needs work . (watched him practice his skating this year when he came home for summer, he's doing good but he didnt hire a skating coach so 2 years at this pace)
