Well, there is absolutely no doubt that THIS is his team. You know, the heartless, offensive defenseless group of boys struggling to play in the men's league.

Sadly if he were to be drafted by the bh, he would not make much of a difference until 2024 or so at the earliest.

1 Year cup window
Honestly, I do not see the Hawks parting with Seabrook. I truly believe there is a market for Keith, tho. Yes, the cap recapture crap is a consideration but the guy is in fabulous shape and still could be a very adequate 3-5 dman on a contender at a relatively friendly hit of $5.5M. He is the guy I would move ASAP. Gardiner would be a coup at the fraction more you give him. He does not seem to be a top pair guy, tho, IMO. I think Chicago would have to trade for such a guy if they want to compete for a playoff berth next year. Trouble with that is who do they move? Very tough answer might be DeBrincat, unfortunately. If that is the case, they would have to hit the FA market hard for a scorer.
The Blackhawks have a ton of holes presently and do not appear to be a desired destination for top UFAs. They have their work cut out if they truly want to contend in these next four years.

Next Year
I would like to see Gardiner in a Blackhawks uniform next season. Tonight’s dismal effort aside, Keith (for his experience) and Gustafson (for his friendly hit and decent PP production) to Toronta for Kadri (useful centerman) and Gardiner (with a reasonable cap increase). Toronto may be taking a chance with a older Keith but his cap hit is stabilized and moving to a team on the rise may bring out some more good in him. (Right now I could care less about recapture; Chicago isn’t going anywhere with or without Duncan Keith for the next four years anyways!). He seems to be the most realistic of their Cup winners to waive. It is beyond time for the Hawks to move on completely and this TDL might be an excellent opportunity to trade a Keith.

Yep, the Blackholes parted ways with Schmaltz, who incidentally scored and had a helper last nite for the Yotes, (just like Strome had in his debut). I hope he does well in Arizona. As for their return, we shall see how it works out. Until the core's contracts are completed, it will continue to be a ****show in Chicago, tho. Those glory years are a thing of the past.

On a side note in light of the real big recent Chicago news, it would be great if the Hawks could duplicate the Pens' feat after they switched coaches mid season from '15-16.

Unless I'm missing something, Duchene, Panarin and Schmaltz are all signed thru this season so their raises should not be reflected on a '18-19 roster. Lots of in-season moves but this team is in desperate need of change, for sure!

Piecing together multiple ACGMs
Not sure how they can make it work for next year. Maybe all of Chara’s hit is available but much of that may go to pay for bonus overages. McAvoy is gonna get paid as a top pairing dman should and Carlo will get a decent but reasonable raise. The RFA forwards too. Gonna be tight, I think.

D Sucks
LA’s cap issues may manifest next year. For instance with this roster, overage bonuses may be in excess of $2.2M alone, or around the presumed cap increase. Doughty has a $4M increase kicking in. Eight other guys will need contracts as well. Similar to Toronto, the Kings have big decisions forthcoming. Unlike the Leafs, their future doesn’t appear to be as bright, unfortunately.

RNH and Myers
With Wheeler’s raise kicking in next year and a very deserved extension for Laine plus figuring out a way to keep most likely Myers rather than Trouba as well as Connor, it would not be wise for Chevy to add $6M in RNH, IMO.

Trade with Pens
I like the idea of acquiring Teletubby for center depth when the Hawks inevitably get hit there with the injury bug. The Pens may be in the market for a RHD with Schultz out long term but I’m not sure Rutta would be on their radar. They supposedly are attempting to replace from within but may be willing to trade if the deal is right for them. Rutta appears to be the odd man out once Murphy returns. Who knows, tho, hey former bud from CBH.com!

Halloween movie looks awesome
Couple of fallacies, if I may. Jack Hughes is ineligible to sign for this season and your team is under the cap floor by almost 5 million bucks. You do have two open slots for a full 23 man roster so the second thought could be corrected, I guess. As far as your trades, Ericsson will not fetch a 2nd nor will Howard get you a 1st this year from any team. Sorry. Other than that, the industry could use a new Halloween flick, for sure!

What hopefully happens if nylander finally signs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>arousedcat</b></div><div>The sky really is the limit for the Leafs. Their offensive firepower is mind-boggling. I knew they'd be good when they signed Tavares, but they lead the league in goals for by a huge margin (8 freaking goals!!!!). You add in Nylander and look out you have easily the best forward group in the league. I'd be absolutely shocked if the Leafs don't win at least 1 cup in the next 5 years.</div></div>Yep, it truly would be pick your poison for the opposition if/when Nylander is back in the fold. I’m not under the absolute persuasion that defense wins championships. For me, it is the team that scores more goals in 16 post season games that has a parade. Obviously, there are many factors that go into winning. With Babcock as their HC, they will compete most nights if not all, and be ready to take another step come April, ‘19.

Faulk and Duchene
It doesn’t seem to be very realistic for the Hawks to acquire Duchene but if this deal were to happen, I believe they could also re-sign him and still extend Schmaltz and DeBrincat down the line. I could not say this until a few months ago but Bowman is starting to have some nice cap options. His next hurdle is convincing above average players to believe in the Hawks as they try to become a contender again. I’m not sold on the Carolina trade but do like what Faulk could bring.

What hopefully happens if nylander finally signs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>arousedcat</b></div><div>Exactly! The guy is incredibly talented so betting on himself with a bridge deal to get a big payday in a couple years surrounded with the talent of Matthews, Marner, Tavares, and Kadri is anything but a bad idea. I can see why Dubas wouldn't want to do this, though, since he'll have to go through this negotiation all over again after Nylander enters his prime. It's such a tough situation and I understand where both sides are coming from. Nylander wants a fair deal and while $8M is probably $1M or so too much right now I think that could be a bargain for the potential he has down the line. Dubas wants to keep his studs together and start a dynasty which is hindered if Nylander takes up $8M in space. As an outsider I'm fascinated by this whole scenario.</div></div>Me too, bud! I remember crying in 1971 when the Chicago Blackhawks lost to Montreal in the SCF. I was six years old! I don’t recall my emotions in ‘73 with the same result but I was hurt again in ‘92 when they were swept by Pittsburgh. So, obviously, I have been thrilled with their recent 3 Wins in six years! And throughout their resurgence to the pinnacle of the NHL <em>as an insider</em>, I, too, became fascinated with them as well as many other teams in how they are built and constructed. Toronto, an O6 team, has not won in over 50 years of their storied history. That drought appears to potentially be over with how things stand this season. In the hard cap era, Toronto has put forth an incredible offensive group that hasn’t been seen in decades. Can they sustain their present pace? If they can also come to a reasonable bridge contract with Nylander (even 2 years would be okay), the sky is the limit!
