Nightmare Scenario
A nightmare scenario would be they lose to Montreal, Sid is hiding something bad enough to retire him, they lose the draft lottery for #1 overall and take whatever mid-1st round pick their 2020 pick ends up being and then are bad enough without Sid next year that their unprotected 2021 1st round pick that goes to Minnesota somehow ends up being #1 overall. That's a nightmare scenario.
Losing to Montreal and drafting #1 overall is quite literally the 2nd best outcome behind the obvious best outcome of winning the Cup.

Defense has "many holes" yet we're ahead of Washington and St. Louis in expected goals against whilst having half our defense miss significant time due to injuries

Trying to contend
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gregb569</b></div><div>You really think someone would bit on Vlasics contract? Couple that with the fact he has a NMC, I think it would be extremely hard to move him let alone get anything back and not pay..</div></div>
Vlasic after SJS pays that 5m signing bonus whenever Free Agency starts this year actually doesnt have a horrible contract outside the NMC limiting trade options.
you are right about him having to agree which is why i think WPG is the spot for him as he'll be playing a bigger role with more minutes while mentoring the youth there. The other option is trade him to MTL in a deal as they'd take him at 4.5m cap ( a trade with seattle retaining could work if the price was right )
Kulak (MTL) , Two 2nd's ,3rd and Dahlen to Seattle to retain 2.5m for 5 years on Vlasic
Vlasic to MTL
7,9m cap cleared in the end for SJS
They bolster their aging roster for another 1-2 years of competitive playoff push.
The cost is not that bad because Seattle needs cap to help rich the league minimum taking away other teams leverage to ask to much more but after this year the cost will be back way way up

Trying to contend
i'm sure they'd rather give up Murray then Jarry
Jarry's got Potential
Murray after giving up a 2nd for VGK to take Fleury has never lived up to expectations .
besides Jarry and Desmith have a history playing Tandem successfully in the AHL and NHL
Keeping them together is cheaper and more serviceable while being more productive .

Philadelphia Flyers signed Oskar Lindblom (3 Years / $3,000,000 AAV)
This is fantastic for both parties. If he is able to continue playing, the Flyers get a great top 6 winger for cheap and if he isn't, the organization did the right thing and took care of one of their players.

2020 non leafs fan ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gregb569</b></div><div>Honestly, to get a "clear upgrade" like Pulock/Ellis (which you guys wouldn't be able to afford) I think any package would start at Dermott+one of the 3M guys ++. Highly doubt a deal is made there with Pulock/Ellis</div></div>
I don’t really see it happening either. Teams would want a high price and the reward for the leafs would not be worth it.
I’m just saying, if the deal is there and it seems fair then I could see Dermott being moved. Otherwise I would give him a bigger workload next season. Move him into the top four on the right side if Sandin is truly ready.

After Bortuzzo cheap shots the rest of the league, he'll be the only player left standing, and therefore the most valuable player in the NHL. He's the goon Highlander.

I don't see NJD being interested because one of those two goalies would most likely be taken in the expansion draft by Seattle. So giving up a 2nd for a 1 year goalie when they probably won't be a playoff team next year anyway isn't the best use of that 2nd round pick.

I just didn't know Erikson Ek was that important to you guys. What if we incorporate Strome in the trade or remove Erikkson Ek from the deal?

Most are nowadays. The Horton one wasn't, which is why a team like Columbus was content to move him for someone who could at least still tie his own skates (Clarkson).

They'd be trading their future 2C to get a current 2C that is actually a 1C so that their current 1C doesn't tell them to trade him because he's tired of waiting for all the top 10 picks to make the team around him good. :)
