I actually agree here, but it's splitting hairs. A cap dump requires the dumping team to be up against the cap. With Price on LTIR, Montreal is still $10+M away from that. Ex: Kampf has more value than Dvorak, but because Toronto is way up against the cap, Kampf is a cap dump.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jacketsman61</b></div><div>Dvorak has underperformed the past few seasons and has been injured a lot. He isn’t worth his cap hit. At this point he would be a cap dump to the CBJ. Maybe not in your view but in the CBJ’s view it would be.</div></div>
He's not a "cap dump", but he's definitely not an asset Columbus is interested in. We might claim him off waivers for free to try him out as veteran depth, but we've got plenty of bottom-sixers. No need to actually pay for more.

Price is on IR, not LTIR here, so they've got $10+M to work with. Unless I'm reading that wrong, in which case: yes, cap dump.

Ok, maybe not a cap dump per se but he literally has no value and would likely take him going on waivers to get him to move. But the Jackets are not interested in him. And we certainly are not giving any assets for him. 🙂

Broke out offensively in the OHL this year, but let's be real; you're not playing this kid for his offense.
Like his brother, Florian is an absolute warrior. His toughness alone gives him a direct shot at the NHL. Good pickup for the Habs, nice seeing a draftee get an ELC!

Most analysts thought we was drafted way too high, but MTL's scouting team saw a "unicorn" in him (their word): A tug with speed and hands.... just like his brother...
Even if it is most likely his ceiling would be NHL's bottom 6 (or even 4th line), MTL lacks so much big wingers in their prospect pool (Tuch might not sign, Heineman is meh), he becomes very important in the future roster's construction.

I can see Montreal doing this type of trade may be in 2-3years not now tho like in 2-3years the habs d pairing will be like this
Hutson - reinbacher
Guhle - Paryako
Arber- mallioux/savard
but no that trade makes no sense as we aren't contending yet but could see it in the future

It's Matheson's job to lose. And Hutson's position to earn. Period.

I'm saying Matheson is, and has always been, a placeholder for PP1. With or without Hutson around. Hutson is just the first player who can realistically contest Matheson's claim to PP1. So I say give 20-year-old Hutson the opportunity to showcase his talents with MTLs best players. and Let 30-year-old Matheson be the one to "fix" PP2, where he is much better suited for.
Again, grand schemes of things. PP1 should be:
Caufield - Dach - Salfkovsky
Suzuki - Hutson
PP2 should have something like:
Roy - Newhook - (someone)
Matheson - Xhekaj/Mailloux/Reinbacher</div></div>
Dude I wasn’t putting words in your mouth. The first part of my comment was towards you and the second part was a comment towards the media. I even made them two separate paragraphs so you hopefully wouldn’t mistake my meaning.
I meant no offense, just trying to temper my fellow Hab fans’ expectations.
I assume St.Louis will start him out with a partner who can handle himself and play him mostly sheltered minutes, maybe give him some looks on the PP and that’s cool with me. Earn your stripes young man.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Good player, good signing.
Lane’s size is always going to be a question. But it has been at every level and every year, he has continued to exceed expectations. When he first was called up onto the USA squad for U18 worlds in his D-1 year (ahead of Casey and Chesley), everyone thought it was a typo (he was listed at five-foot-six-inches). After a summer of bulking up, he went into his draft year at 5’7” and around 140 lbs and eventually became best offensive dman for NTDP. In his pre-draft interviews, he brought medical stats that said he would grow to at least 5’10” (imagine that kind of pressure…”grow now!”).
At Boston University, he had two fantastic seasons. He was Hobey Baker top-10 finalist as a Freshman dman (can count on one hand how many have accomplished that). This year, the Hutson-Celebrini duo on BU’s power play was one of the best we have seen in years (it would be very cool to see the two pair up again at next level).
Hutson will be one of the most fun players to watch grow into a NHLer. I will be rooting for him.</div></div>
Well said. Even if he wasn’t a Habs’ prospect I’d be rooting for him.
