Montreal accepts this as much as LA accepts Clarke for Harris!

The guy is being overly dramatic, same as many in this thread. Nashville dealings have made their left side weak and Josi might be dangled. 22 years old effective top4 signed at 1.4M the next 2 years with control in the future in Harris is definitely an asset for a team like Nashville.

U need something shiny to draw nashvilles attention, if they head for a rebuild, not enough upside or team control to help kickstart the rebuild.

Umm no I think it’s you who needs to educate yourself. Habs can offer sheet him for 1 year at 6.5M. Compensation is a 1st and 3rd.
Winnipeg can match , but they aren’t allowed to trade him for a full year so effectively he would 100% walk as a UFA following that deal. Other option is to just take the compensation of a 1st and a 3rd.
Winnipeg is over a barrel with the potential threat of an offer sheet.
I think you need to read the rules!

I’m not opposed to McGinn as I’m sure dadonov and maybe armia will get traded at some point later in the year depending on how they play</div></div>
If it's for purposes of buying him out then I'm sure it works. I guess that would have to be pre-negotiated for him to waive, but I guess stranger things have happened.
McGinn is definitely a useful player, but player the Pens can afford move given other options in the lineup. He has a little too much term, but his cap-hit is fair and probably someone you can flip at some point if desired.

Devils have no interest in Hoffman, let alone to pay a 3rd.
We already want to get rid of AJ, Tatar, and Zacha, and they all can do what Hoffman can.

Pitt trade
This trade doesn't really make sense for the Pens. Value-wise it's probably so-so, but if this were to happen you'd either need to take more salary back in the form of someone like McGinn or retain more on one of the players. That said, moving Marino for Petry makes little sense.

Petry gets us
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bagelbob</b></div><div>but what they’re most worried about are those final years when he’ll be 34-38, which are literally the only years they’re getting with petry</div></div>
Klingberg is more one dimensional than Petry. Habs fans arent forgetting about Petry's age but the fact a lot of other fan bases don't know the players current trajectory. Look at his best seasons, all in his 30s.
They are countless examples of players being elite in their late 30s, you can start on the same team, Shea Weber then go to Zdeno Chara, hell, Kris Letang just had career high across the board at 35 years of age.
We are dealing with the information we have at hand. Petry had a terrible early season where the whole team struggled. Then finished strong with a 56 point pace in his last 30 games, same production the last 5 years. Nothing says he's declining except conjecture.

They’ll just keep him then. He’s signed 3 years at a decent number when guys like Klingberg are going to get the bag this off-season
This is the same stuff I heard at the TDL and so many were wrong. Kulak got a 2nd and you don’t think Petry can get a 1st?
Petry a RHD top 4 with 4 straight years of 40+ points production. Unless, you are in NHL management that is quite the contrarian take.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>habs1289</b></div><div>Nylander for Gibson could be close Toronto would likely have to sweeten the deal a little bit</div></div>
Ya that one would be interesting. My only concern from Toronto's perspective is what to do with the second line then. Who knows if they can resign Micheyev and tbh he's more of a complimentary guy on a second line rather than a second line driver. But would be awesome to see the leafs get consistently elite goaltending

If edm and nyr both lose out first round
NYR say no...EDM would probably want more anyway- but this package is too much for 1 player. Every player in this league has a price tag attached to them...yet there is a reason why moves of marquise players is pretty rare- the risk you'd take on for that 1 player is usually not worth it.

I don't think that you'll have to give away two thirds to get rid of Armia. Somebody might want him for a fifth. Remember that Arizona needs warm bodies next year.
You have the right value on Hoffman and that contract of his, but it will be interesting to see if anyone has interest in adding him.

I don't think you up the value because of the number of pieces included. I agree, Kulak fetches a 4th and Perrault as one pointed out is likely worth a 7th, so I was being a bit generous using a 5th, so you'd just make the trade a 4th and a 6th, not combining as a 3rd. But yeah, Kulak would be better suited for another team.

Whats with all the Chiarot hype
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>habs1289</b></div><div>Analytics have nothing to do with how a defensive player plays the gap on an opposing player or how efficient they are at wearing down opposing players in the corner or in front of the net which is worth something to actual nhl coaches and GMs come playoff time .. I’m not saying he’s worth a first and a prospect but he’s definitely worrh a first to a contending team or a 2nd and a B prospect</div></div>
Ok but my point is, if they don't play a good gap consistently, it isn't measured as a stat but it will show up in the form of goals against, expected goals against, penalty differential, etc. Not many guys can get away with poor play from the eye test and good analytics, the results add up over time. FWIW a 2nd round pick at the deadline would be pretty reasonable given the decisions we see NHL GMs make all the time. I hate all the 1st + chatter but it isn't going anywhere when you've got media guys pumping the tires.

There are two types of GMs:
1. Him big strong. Hit people. Me GM. Me like big strong.
2. GM "That big strong guy really pushed my analytically sound players around. I should get someone like that for my team."
Look how New York reacted to the Wilson incident. Especially with the joke that is DOPS during playoffs.
Like it or not, GMs and teammates value having certain player types on their team.

While I agree with you, even the eye test doesn't pass here. His lateral step is lacking, he often loses focus in front of the net. He doesn't make a strong outlet pass. He really isn't that great. He's a glorified Bortuzzo.
