wouldnt be anything for the devils to consider habs wouldnt offer that. Slaf is a unicorn in their organization and has continued to steadily improve in all facets of his game. On a side not i dont see any reason for them to pursue Nemec period, knowing that the package would have to be significant.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CHAR</b></div><div>Which side Harris plays is irrelevant. His handed-ness is what matters. The Ducks already have several left-shot guys playing the right side because the team has too many left-shot defenders and not enough righties.
Option three exists: Ducks don't trade Zegras at all. The Ducks don't want to trade him and he's under contract for two more years and an RFA after that.</div></div>
your whole post was about it being relevant thats why i brought it up. theres more left shot dman than right in the nhl most teams use one or two left shot dman on the right side. Anyways thats not important, like i said its fair that duck fans think they should ask for more, and of course just keeping him is the an option, and probably the most likely scenerio. But the trade offer mentioned here for a player that has the upside of probably developing into an 80 point, one dimensional forward is pretty fair. But i do get that it wouldnt be enough to entice the ducks to pull the trigger.

When constructing potential trades with other teams, you should spend a few minutes researching what their surpluses and deficiencies are. You shouldn't be any quicker to trade us a LhD than we would be to trade you one.</div></div>
harris plays RD more than LD with the habs so thats a moot point, would be a good idea to review where a player plays before commenting it it not being a fit. The package may be light compared to what ducks fans think Zegras is worth but i dont see MTL wanting to pay more than that, if theres another team that would go above that package then thats great for the ducks.

zero chance this would be considered by MTL, Ghule is already a top pairing dman and getting better.

nothing they wouldnt want to give up the player whose supposed to be a pure goal scorer given how much of a need that has been. This is just a deal that doesnt do anything for either side.

habs are going to be looking to add a big offensive piece on their next trade i think, fixing your bottom 6 center situation shouldnt really be a priority right now, not to mention they may already have their future 3rd line center in Beck who should be up in the next year or two.

nope he spent some time in Laval after returning from brief injury and has been logging more ice time since his return. They are also trying to spread time around a pretty full d-group but he is certainly not looking like a player they will shape to create some space, most likely Savard will be moved either in the off season or some time next year and Harris seems to be the other top candidate to be moved.

habs probably have to put their first this year in that package, with either jets or calgary first, harris and kidney or other prospect for Necas and not sure that even gets him. I also assume deal start at 8mil per.

think it makes a lot of since for mtl, they dont need Jarry at all nor a LD prospect that might not even slide into the top 10 LD on the deapth chart but they go get them with a young center they desperately need and pay the better pick...

probably? lol hughes should be fired on the spot if he even thought of making that trade lol.
To get someone to take on anderson's contract at this point will probably take the picks but that shouldnt be something mtl is worried about currently and including beck who is having another solid year and could be up next year makes no sense.
Also that at some point Arizona is going to stop selling their top players for picks, i think they have just about reached that time so wouldnt think they'd be at all interesting in making that move.

Leafs go for it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>Oh on that we agree. but imo the only way Habs get a 1st for Savard is with MTL retaining his salary next season. The trade proposed above has the retention on Pearson, not Savard. So, a 2nd + prospect is more than fair. And considering Abruzzese is also in the deal, Kind of hard to say no. And then yes, Robertson over Liljegren.</div></div>
if this was Savard final year on the deal i would agree they would take it. But at this point i think its a first with retention if needed or its nothing and see what the market looks like at next years TDL or even in the offseason if a team feel they would want him for a full year.

Leafs go for it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>Liljegren will be 25 soon and hasn't been able to solidify his spot on a weak top 6 defensive squad for years now. He has consistent brain farts in his own zone, and has floated between being a healthy scratch and a 3rd pair dman when everyone is healthy or not suspended (in Reilly's case). I have zero interest in him wasting space on the Habs blue line taking away time from Barron, Mailloux and Reinbacher as soon as his season is done in Switzerland.
Robertson is 22, could help give Laval offense for their playoff push, or he could actually fit on the Habs wing once Pearson is gone, and could have a chance at helping the Habs PP2 unit (who desperately needs someone better than Ylonen, Gallagher, Anderson, etc... Only good pieces on PP2 is Roy and Xhekaj). In terms of potential, Robertson at least has "untapped potential" left in him, whereas Liljegren you pretty much know what you're getting.
So yeah, between the two it's really a no brainer. Roberston over Liljegren all day.</div></div>
Robertson is not far off from a full career in the AHL. the fact you think pearson leaving is gonna open a door for Robertson makes little since. A small forward whose biggest attribute when he was drafted was his offense is not going to thrive on a forechecking fourth line and there's going to be no place for him in the top 9. I will concede that he may have a little more value left him in than Lilegren but the reality is neither are pieces montreal's going to want back.

rangers lose on this deal, feel like the first and a prospect would be the route they would probably want to go, dont think you want to lose Kakko at this point for a rental. This is a year where it would make sense for the rangers to be aggressive at the deadline.

100% agree that most would view Zegras ahead of where Dach was, thats the point i was making, a package based off what will probably be a 24th or higher pick in 2025 isnt coming close.

if the ducks are willing to go that low on a Zegras deal then it will be beat by a few teams. theres plenty of teams with picks between 5-15 this year that would probably move their 2024 first plus for Zegras

they could also go find a reliable backup at samsonov's level for probably a 2nd round pick and not trade Byram... but i see how such a much wouldn't heavily favor the leafs.

the assets going back to pittsburgh barely cover the amount of cap being retained, still have to pay for the players too. Also when they say they want prospects think they may high end prospects not 22 and 24 year old who have yet to crack a roster on a team with no forward depth. Feel like they will get much better offers and without nearly that much retention, especially by adding a third team.
Also a late first and useless goalie not going to land Byram

cant see guentzel taking that kind of risk, an injury or a down year would greatly impact that second contract and his age its going to be the last significant deal he signs. Just makes no sense for a player to do that.

not sure if you are aware but the playoffs dont end after the first round, ya price was the main reason they made it out of the leafs series but for the following two rounds the top four d were huge pieces as well. Ya price was the key, hes the best player on the team its not debatable but it takes a lot more then one guy to make a run through 4 playoff rounds. and i would argue that given the level of goaltending mtl had for their run the leafs should be even more concerned with finding dman who can play well in their own end and clear space and block shots as that becomes more and more important as the playoffs go on.
But clearly you're just here to argue
