Working with whats left
Not bad from an ANA perspective. Would be nice to recoup a 2nd or 3rd to make up for the missing 3rd rounder this year. Perhaps swapping Shatty for PK straight up would net a 2nd.
Also, very interesting minor league signings! Had to look into a couple of those guys LOL

(LAK/NSH) - 2x draft picks for Arvidsson
I think this is a pretty good trade for both sides. Slight edge LA because Arvidsson is a good player on a good contract. Nice for Nashville to pick up #40 this season, too.

(ANA/TBL) - Morand and 2023 7th round pick for Volkov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SevenLeg</b></div><div>Man they separated best friends Comtois & Morand.</div></div>
Morand looked like he was going to be a good middle 6 type guy originally, but hasn't developed very much IMO. Might end up as a bottom 6 guy eventually, but Ducks get the better player today in Volkov. Will be interesting to see how Eakins utilizes him, especially with Comtois being in the doghouse lately.

Flower
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fel93</b></div><div>Why?</div></div>
I think this is in response to the Lebrun story this morning that stated Miller is not restricting himself to just Anaheim if he's to play next season. Vegas was mentioned as a team that has talked with Miller, along with Detroit and one other team I can't mention (that has already signed a goalie, like Detroit)...
I came here to look at how the money would look for a Fleury to Anaheim trade with 50% retained. Hypothetically; if this were to happen, it would pretty much be taking Fleury and his contract for a mid-round pick so Vegas could sign Miller on the cheap. Would it create enough space for Pietrangelo in Vegas though? Probably not unless they can deal another dman. But also for the Ducks they would be risking an extra year of expensive goaltending if Fleury wasn't taken by Seattle in the Expansion Draft.
Probably the one change I would make is Larsson up for Welinski, but we'd still have about 3 mil in cap space with Kesler on LTIR...
Thanks for posting this so I didn't have to, HadesOfSoCal :)

Ducks
Not bad. I hope we don't spend more than 2 mil on a backup goalie. I also think Eaves will end up on LTIR all season next year. He and Kes will open up 10 mil in cap space if that happens. Might be able to go after a big fish this offseason if that ends up being the case.

(OTT/ANA) - Sieloff for Gibbons

The feeling is mutual with Gibbons. Guy tried hard but had no finish. Can't believe we got something back for him, even if it is a depth dman.

(EDM / NYR) - Spooner for Strome
I think Strome still has the better upside, but Spooner could help EDM more immediately. Not as lopsided as I initially thought. Don't know why NY would retain 900k though without getting a draft pick back at least. They have over $5 mil in dead cap with Girardi's buyout, Spooner's retained salary and Beleskey in the minors.

No one ever does Ducks AGM, lots of great prospects..but can they still compete?
Nice post. I like most of it, but if Kesler is healthy I don't see him on the 4th line so Steel can play 3C. Ritchie should get a contract under 2mil for cap hit, 1 year or 2.

Patches deal trying to have a fit
Not the craziest proposal, but too many moving parts. Like someone said above, keep it simple. Larsson, one additional good forward prospect and a 1st (hopefully getting a 3rd back too). Will have to pay up if they are retaining, but I like the idea.

Ducks d'Anahaim
Pretty solid. Pretty close on the Kase contract, too. I'd like to see Eaves on the top line with Kase/Rakell and Getz and Perry on the third, but it will certainly be interesting to see where all the RH shots end up. Also hoping Kesler is ready. I'm not sold on our 4th line center options if he's out. Would love to see Steel kill it in training camp though.

Severely overrating Perry/Troy and underrating Benn (and the fact that he wouldn't get traded unless something crazy happens in Dallas)

Ducks with EK + BR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>No thanks!
Montour is currently playing on the top pair. He's a RHD. He's young, he's under team control, and he's got great potential. Is EK an upgrade? No doubt. But is that upgrade big enough to give what amounts to 3 first rounders (including Jones), a second, and a top 6 forward back, all the while taking on Bobby Ryan's terrible contract? Hellllll no. Not to mention that they'll be in cap trouble if they resign Karlsson for anywhere near what he's going to be asking for.</div></div>
You're not wrong about most of that. This was mostly just to see what kind of cap implications would occur with both of those contracts. Montour, though, is not a top 2 dman. The way we play our defense, we don't really have a "top pairing" (no Keith/Seabrook from years past in Chicago playing 30+ minutes a game each). Karlsson + Fowler or Lindholm is. Monty has plenty of potential as a top 4 guy eventually, but he has stalled out lately and would be an easy part to include in a trade for a top dman. We also have to be realistic with our "cup window"..
In response to ithical, I totally agree. I thought of this as BM's version of the Pronger trade. The moment we got him in 06, I started telling people we would win the cup that year. Wouldn't have the same feeling this year though. Just doing some thinking :)
