I like that you rate Ostapchuk higher than many, I have him even higher than that myself. It's funny that as good as Meriläinen is, we really don't know how good he is yet, so he tends to be lower on a lot of lists.
Thanks for sharing

True. I just think Dvorak's contract will make it possible he also gets a 1st (and a likely bidding war).

REALISTIC CBO WAY
<a href="/users/harrisonwright19" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@harrisonwright19</a> I have come to agree with you since this discussion.
The way GM's are managing their cap is the issue here not the Cap itself. The only thing guaranteed is the cap is $81.5M right now. A new cap has not been set and if you can't work with the way the cap is built right now then that's your fault.
GM's should not be counting on the cap to increase in order to manage there team, a cap increase should be a bonus.
I 100% agree with you now, I think its BS if greedy GM's get bailed out because they spent cap space that wasn't even given yet.

Well let's hope so, my plan to offersheet Sergachev is 100% dependent on the cap being flat with no CBO's.

Ok, let's flip this around-Keeping in mind that Jones > Reilly, what would you say to:
Reilly for Jenner(Johnsson), Foudy (Lily), Dubinsky 50% retained (Ceci), MacInnis (Bracco), top 15 protected 2021 1st.
You'd say no.

Those are all pretty fair value trades but nothing creative and nothing not seen a hundred times.
BOS is the only just bad trade. First, Backes has an NTC. Second, its lopsided. Were giving way too much.

Try 8x11. He's the belle of the ball this summer and he has no reason to take anything left than max term, and he's definitely getting more than 9.

I'm not a fan. Boedker may be hot garbage but he can still play in the NHL. Pateryn may be done and he still has another year left on his contract. Ottawa also isn't in any big cap crunch so it's better just to ride out the rest of Boedker's contract than to try to move him.

Even though a lot of these guys are listed as centres are actually wingers, there should be literally zero prospects below Viktor Lodin. He stinks.
Also Wolanin is miles ahead of Jonny Iconic.

I'd put Sogaard at the top of the goalie list. He's the youngest of the lot, but he's a giant, and he moves better than he has any business doing at that size.
I'd also have Brown at the 1C spot. White is further along, but he's had some consistency issues since he lost Mark Stone. I think the recent change to RW will help him find his groove, but right now he's definitely below Logan Brown. Brown has way more offensive upside than White and is looking like he could be a star for Ottawa.

That is A LOT of pics!!! (and the deals seem more or less fair, depending on how well the individual players play but based on them having similar years to 2018-2019 it makes sense) Duclair is a wild card, he has been very inconsistent so we'll see if he is worth 2 3rds ...

marner trade

Well faulting a player for wanting to get compensated fairly, after seeing what his teammates got, is ridiculous. They made Matthews feel special, why does Marner have to sit back and take less when he is just as important to the team? The real mistake was giving Matthews the exact contract that he wanted. No way Dubas wanted to pay him more that Tavaras AND right to UFA status. But it looked like he was trying to sign Matthews fast to make himself look competent. They set the standard for the team and dug their own expensive grave. It's also silly that these high picks are using the McDavid contract as a comparable. He won an Art Ross and Hart as a teenager. He should be in his own stratosphere.

Why's it his fault Toronto managed it poorly? Why should he take significantly less than Matthews who sure he plays center...but he doesn't kill penalties. Neither does Tavares. Yet he outscored both averaging 1:21 of PK time to Tavares' 12 seconds per game and Matthews' 2 seconds per game. Why should he give the leafs a deal? The Leafs already dicked him around once sending him back to London. Not even giving him any games because it's easier to defend that decision than sending him back after he's productive.
Career year for Marner? Yeah. Absolutely. But the Leafs signed his comp to a deal before they needed to, probably for more than they should have for not long enough. Why play hardball with Mitch and not Matthews?

even with that over pay.... look at this line up! lol and on top of that +- 6 mil cap space to sigh TH extension and possibly add to the defense depth. this roster would be lethal
