<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HatterTParty</b></div><div>Sorry for doing exactly what you don’t want, but dach shouldn’t make the team. I’d like it if he went back to the whl. He’s gotta work on consistent point production. Also, I’d like it he worked on foot speed, everyone seems to think him being able to shield the puck from defenders equates to speed. Hell, the breakaway he had in the scrimmage was him blocking off a guy 8 inches shorter and 50 lbs. lighter than him. If he can consistently out skate juniors back in the whl, then I’ll feel better about him, but for now he looks ripe for someone standing him up and laying him out.
Having said that, boqvist is absolutely insane. Yes defense is a work in progress, but the ahl will help with that. I don’t think he should start in the nhl right away, but I think after half a season he could be ready.</div></div>
I agree with everything you just said and this was just my what-if scenario. 1 more year of juniors would be perfect for Dach and he should be more than ready next year. And Boqvist should start in the AHL this year and if he is producing well and maturing then he pushes Gus out the door either at the TDL or offseason.

If you read my description it's all about having a perfectly balanced Top 9 and being able to roll out 3 lines confidently. And Caggiula is one of those guys who can play anywhere and is easily movable down the lineup
Toews-Saad-Caggiula would arguably be my 3rd line in this scenario, but like I said, balance.

was just gonna try and come up with a Seabrook-VAN trade myself after seeing there were talks of it at the draft
Seabrook + 1st for one of VAN bad but not as bad contracts (Loui or Sutter) seems to make sense if Seabrook will waive

I did see today that the Hawks were trying to ship Seabrook and #3 overall at the draft to Vancouver although not sure how serious it ever was, also if Seabrook was willing to waive. Wonder if those talks could pick up while replacing #3 overall for 2 future first rounders... slim-to-none chance of happening of course

I would assume a world in which Phil Kessel has scored at least 70 points in each of the last three seasons while Saad's career high is 53. Idk what PIT would want in a Saad/Kessel swap but I bet it'd be something significant like a good cost effective player like Gus

I don't get why the Marleau trade is un-needed when we can take advantage of the Leaf's situation and snag a player like Kapanen. And as much as I love Saad, he can be a bit inconsistent and Kessel is a much better scorer. Kessel and Toews would make for a great pair on the top line and when you split up Kessel/Toews, Strome/DeBrincat, and Kane/Kapanen/and maybe Turcotte next year, that's a solid top 9

Clearing the defensive log-jam
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Turcotte is going to Wisconsin next year and he won't fall to #8.
Trading Gus would be a bad move, he's right now a top 5 point producer on defense, no other way to describe it but giving up on him would be foolish. If he gets off to that kind of start midway through the season next year, the Hawks COULD move him for at least a 1st and 2nd rounder, maybe more.
Mitchell is going to end up being a solid top 4 player and is 1 year away, why trade him now?
Move Saad and Krys plus a 4th rounder for a top 10 pick if that's what you want, but after pick 6, the target should be Zegras, Boldy or Caufield. Cozens, Dach, Byram and Turcotte are almost a sure bet to go 3, 4, 5, and 6 not necessarily in that order.</div></div>
I will bet you $100 that Cozens, Dach, Byram, and Turcotte are not all picked top six. None of us know how the draft is going to go lol. I would agree however that Turcotte is gone by 6

Speed and scoring
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>Nalimov Is he going to come to The NHL? Probably not and till he does he has no real value. The Wings just signed Larsson and with both Bernier and Howard coming back means The Wings have time to let their goalie prospects develop before going out and trading for one. Forsig is a defenseman drafted for his offensive ability with mediocre defensive ability. In 122 games he has 27 points. Now he could get better but right now he doesn't have a lot of value. Kahun in his first season 82 games and 37 points which is pretty good. Now Kahun is really to only player offered by Chicago in this trade with any value and AA had almost as many goals as he had points. In my opinion Kahun and Chicago's 1st isn't worth AA by himself and you want Detroit's first as well. Not worth it.</div></div>
First of all, I'm not onboard with all of these Athanasiou trades everybody's been posting about. But did you seriously just say Athanasiou is worth more than Kahun AND the 3rd overall pick???

Pretty sure that was for his rights coming out of school which is different scenario. There, the Rangers signed him to a 3yr entry level deal. For a player who's about to sign more millions and millions, something like a 4th rounder is reasonable

All the Islanders
I think adding a pair of 28-year olds in Lee and Eberle will definitely help a lot more than they'll hurt us. I doubt either of them will command a ton of money and we could use at least another veteran forward. Filppula is just another 1 year stop gap until guys like Barret or Kurashev can be your 3C. Then a top 9 could look like Lee-Toews-Saad, DeBrincat-Strome-Kane, Eberle-Barrett-Kahun and then hopefully draft and develop a scoring forward to replace Eberle if he signs like a 2/3 year deal. Defense is where we need to get younger and faster and we hopefully already have those pieces in place.

Agree with your Saad take but you can't seriously value Gus that high... he's a #6 and a PP specialist. I would take a third rounder for him, and I'm pretty sure Scott Powers said the same. As for Tolvanen, he's one of the better prospects right now and his value is probably 3x Gustafsons

I would definitely sell Gustafsson now. That being said, Toronto says no way as Kapanen could be a stud. Pretty sure I've heard he's off limits even for a top 4 defensemen so no shot he's coming to Chicago.

Obviously Gagner is not a 2nd liner but Stan is not going to trade for him for "depth" we have plenty of bottom 6 depth already. Stan is probably thinking that Gagner and Kane put up monster numbers a decade ago in the OHL and see if they still have chemistry. I'm not opposed to taking a look at him. But while he's clearly not a top 6 guy, this is more about finding a guy to play with Kane

Schmaltz for Nylander
I almost made a post today with the same exact trade lol. Schmaltz and Murphy for Nylander makes perfect sense for both teams in my opinion. Blackhawks get the more dynamic winger and the Leafs get a cheaper Top 6 option along with a borderline top 4 dman once he's healthy.
I think there's a larger difference in abilities and potential in Nylander vs Schmaltz than you make it out to seem however so I was thinking the Hawks might have to include a 2nd/3rd rounder? Or a mid level prospect, none of our top guys but I think there has to be mutual interest here (unless Stan has a hard on for Schmaltz idk)

With Kruger coming in and confirmed reports the Hawks asked him to submit his 10 teams, the writing is on the walls. Kampf is solid and can take 3rd line minutes. Schmaltz has the 2nd line minutes. AA is paid too much to be a 4th liner and as a LW, it would be under utilizing him. He will either get traded now or will be packaged at the TDL.</div></div>
Our younger forwards seem decent... but David Kampf blows. Absolutely no reason to trade Anisimov for a pick, hes still a quality player, slightly overpaid but its not like we need the cap space to give kampf a larger role
