Playoffs
Hawks obviously decline. That 3rd needs to be on the other side of the trade with future considerations going back to Detroit. A one round pick swap doesn't come close to dumping over $8m in cap hit plus the extra season on Holl.

Hawks might consider that. A 3rd would be the absolute max they'd pay for Knight. A 4th or a 5th would be more likely.

I dont even like the Hawks but this is fun
Hawks don't make either trade. Giving up a 1st for a one year rental makes no sense for a rebuilding team. Hawks won't want Provorov and aren't trading Reichel to get Laine. Most I'd offer for Laine is a 2nd and a 4th.

Not sure what's worse. That group of UFA signings or the Laine trade. Laine isn't worth anything close to that.

Easy decline for the Hawks. Hawks aren't trading a C for a W. And they aren't taking any chances with the powder keg that is Evander Kane.

Bedard Cup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BIGTness</b></div><div>What is so bad about it also yeah I know I disappointed with the caps</div></div>
It would be easier to list what's good about it: oh wait, there isn't anything. Too much $ for Lindholm. Too much term for Marchessault. Rest of the UFA's aren't players the Hawks would target other than maybe DeSmirh. The Hawks aren't putting Kurashev on waivers. He'd be claimed by San Jose instantly. And that Columbus trade is ridiculous. Elvis is a cap dump and Laine has nowhere near that much value. Hawks loe that trade in a HUGE WAY,

Swap the '24 2nd for the Isles '25 2nd and the Hawks probably accept.

If the Hawks have settled on Levshunov as their pick at #2OA, they should make this deal. Even if they haven't decided yet, Hawks would have to at least consider that.

Getting in Laine
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JacketsComrade</b></div><div>cbj maybe do this because we save 4.5 mil this season and 8.7 mil the following but you have the pick value all wrong. we'd want NYI 2024 1st and you wouldn't get that third from us.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dopplsan</b></div><div>He's scored at a .8 PPG clip on a **** CBJ team with no C, and has lost time largely due to fluke injuries and a PAP stay (if that's what you want to call "taken time off").
He's not a play-driver, but he's still got a high-end offensive toolbox that, taking a guess here, will do very well on a top-line with Bedard. We're not talking about some B6 scrub.
He's got real value - probably more than non-CBJ posters here realize, even if its not as much as some CBJ posters think.</div></div>
I agree this trade proposal is bad for CBJ. But zero chance the Hawks are giving up a 1st in any Laine deal and doubtful the Hawks would be in on him if CBJ is looking to recoup "full value", whatever that might be.

Tough choices
Easy choice for the Hawks. They pass. Murphy half retained for two years and the 2nd as a base for the deal, fine. But the 3rd piece isn't a 1st. Way too much for Necas.

Realistic if tavares waives
If the Leafs want the Hawks to take JT's full $11m cap hit and his full $7.9m actual salary, that costs a 1st all day long. The rest of those picks get dropped from the deal.

That's a lot better offer than your first try ar re-acquiring the '25 1st. Hawks might consider this w/ a different prospect included.

Hawks might make that trade for Holl. But it probably takes a better sweetner than a 6th. Hawks decline the Donato for Fabbri swap. Rather have the versatile Donato than the made of glass Fabbri.

With the pick being a '24 pick, this deal is before the draft and free agency. The Hawks will probably only have interest in swapping Donato for Smith if they totally strike out upgrading their forward group in free agency. To me, it's more the timing than the value, which isn't bad.
