late prospects
If I'm Allvin, I'm doing that in a heartbeat. That's a lot less than the reported price for Tanev now (2nd round pick + prospect), and that's not even factoring in that we're asking them to take back Myers, even if the trade is cap hit neutral

I don't. Wennberg has fewer points than Mikheyev in more games played, and a lot more ice time. I get that Mikheyev has often played with Pettersson, but Canucks fans have actually complained about how Pettersson hasn't actively taken over games enough this season, so we can't also say he's mega carried Mikheyev, who is just scoring at a solid middle 6 rate anyway.
Mikheyev is also at least good defensively, and useful on the PK. Wennberg is terrible defensively, and doesn't make up for it with enough offence. I'd rather have a player who is good defensively and can get carried to being competent offensively. It's a lot harder to try to cover for a defensive liability who only scores 40 points. It's why Boudreau was benching Hoglander when he was struggling to score, but playing irresponsible hockey. Wennberg is technically a centre, but he's terrible at face-offs, so he doesn't even add value there

Looking at Guentzel trade if we cant get a scorer plus acquiring 2 D men
If the Canucks trade for Guentzel, it's either going to be for his expiring contract with retained salary and then they try to re-sign him themselves, or the Penguins would need to take Kuzmenko back to make the salaries work. The Canucks don't have enough cap to take on Guentzel at full cost anymore because they played the "we have cap space" card to get Zadorov for seemingly low cost.
However, Kuzmenko also has another year on his contract, and he's supposed to be a scoring forward. I could maybe see 2024 first round pick + prospect + Kuzmenko for Guentzel as a UFA, and then the Canucks sign him themselves. Once the deadline passes, the Canucks will become the team allowed to offer Guentzel 8 years on a new contract

Definitely don't want Boqvist unless he's dirt cheap. If the Canucks actually are legit, then if they're going to send out a first round pick for a Pesce sign and trade then it's probably worth it. I wouldn't send out a first for Tanev though.
Especially if they're sending out the 2024 pick, then it would have to be apparent the first rounder isn't going to be a particularly high pick if they're trading for Pesce, even as a rental.

Hronek isn't going to sign for only 6 mil after this season.
Garland AND Klimovich for Boqvist is a pretty big step back in value. The Jacket would need to add assets to Boqvist to get Garland. Also the Canucks shouldn't want Boqvist, he's just worse bubble season Hughes. He's not good offensively or defensively
The Canucks could and should be able to get a lot more in the off-season for moving out Garland

Girard isn't an ideal piece in terms of fit, but the value is too good to not take it. Worst case scenario they can sell off Girard down the line since he's still cost controlled as the cap is going up

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JuanDamienNebraska</b></div><div>Beauvillier would surely get claimed. I know he makes north of 4 million, but someone would take him.</div></div>
That's fine, getting cap space back is what the Canucks want in the first place. If they have to retain 50% and still only get a mid round pick, that's arguably worse than getting all the cap space back, especially if they're going to try to trade for a RHD that's already under contract.
Say they have to retain 50% on Beauvilier and get like a 4th round pick back. They're going to have to pay more than a 4th round pick to get that 2 mil retained on another player in a trade to improve the RHD, especially again for a guy under contract, because then the salary retained by the original team applies for multiple years. But if they just have the cap space, then they possibly wouldn't need retained salary at all, or only very little

Garland no longer on the block
. The Canucks are playing some hard effort reasonably good team defence right now. Those are not things that Domi does well. On the other hand, I could see the Leafs wanting Joshua just on his own since he's still a cap savings over Reaves, if they put him on waivers, and Joshua can play more than 5 minutes a game

Yes, most of them are lefties, but most can play their offside.</div></div>
I think that has a lot to do with the fact that Rakell had more than twice the amount of PP time that Garland had. And I'm pretty sure Rakell was PP1 last year.
They both had a 1.8 points/60 at 5v5. Rakell is not a material upgrade on Garland at all. He just had better production because of more favourable deployment, which he wouldn't get in Vancouver. Rakell likely wouldn't crack PP1 here with Boeser and Kuzmenko already as right hand shots on PP1. He might be more productive than Garland on PP2, but it wouldn't justify taking on the longer contract. Garland only has two years left

What is the logic behind thinking that Lindholm would end up with the Flyers? I can't see Lindholm wanting to sign and trade to the Flyers, and I can't see the Flyers wanting Lindholm as an expiring UFA if he doesn't.
Unless you're thinking that the Flyers flip Lindholm on a sign and trade of their own which nets them more than they would get for Konency on his remaining term. But that's pretty galaxy brain, even though it could be possible. But they'd be majorly in the hole if Lindholm burns them and walks, because Konency is their best player

If the Predators were willing to do a Garland for Fabbro trade like that, I think the Canucks would much rather do it themselves than trade Garland for Joseph. Joseph is a straight up downgrade from Garland, even with the cap savings

Podkolzin is going to get sent down tomorrow again. He's just a paper transaction. Having him up over Aman gets them closer to the max ACSL, and ensures we get a performance bonus relief pool along with a salary relief pool with Poolman on LTIR
There's a quirk in the CBA that if he starts the season in the AHL, apparently, they would need to clear enough room for his 925k cap hit AND 850k in bonuses to call him up later on

Shocked that they didn't overpay him? 3x2.75 is a terrible contract. Even if you for some reason think Brodie isn't good, at least his contract is expiring. It would a terrible idea to turn that into a bad contract AND add a first round pick on top of it.
Honestly, none of your trades make sense. They're all really lopsided in value and some of them are a real head scratcher in terms of how they'd make the Leafs better

Alternatively, they could see him as someone who can help score goals, and just accept that their overall team structure would make up for it. That's basically the bet they made on DeAngelo. Ryan Suzuki doesn't appear to be that high of an acquisition cost, but I'm only looking at his box stats though

It would mean they're fully committed to a re-build. Having Demko on the team through a rebuild would be a total waste of his remaining contract, and possibly means he steal the team some wins. So they capitalize on the value he has with 3x5mil remaining on his contract.
Petersen in this trade serves only to match cap hits, since he's also on a 5mil AAV. He just happens to also be a goalie

Buffalo wouldn't trade you the rights to LUKE Tuch for that package, if they had them.</div></div>
It would depend on whether the Ducks could flip Pearson at the deadline. If say they were able to get a second round pick for him at the deadline with retained salary, then they turned a third round pick into a second and a 5th. It's still an upgrade in draft capital.
Otherwise, nothing else they've proposed tradewise makes sense. Suter won't go to Canada, I don't think we could get Tuch's jockstrap for Poolman and a third round pick

And it provides some centre depth in the meantime if they're selling off Miller

The first trade to Chicago is unncessary if Smith and Keith would just retire anyway. Retiring would wipe their cap hits off the books, and Edmonton would actually benefit if Keith retires, because they'd get a cap credit. Unless that's just for the purposes of armchair GM since there's no "retire a player" function lol

You’re acting like the Canucks have no cap space when in fact they do. They can easily fit in Boeser. Miller even if we keep him only gets a 3 million dollar raise. We can easily ship out 3 million dollars to fit him. Poor justification</div></div>
You either didn't read my comment, or responded to the wrong person. OP says Canucks have a cap crunch, and I'm saying they don't really because Myers can just be dumped when Miller's new deal would actually kick in. He's still got another year at 5.25 mil
I'm saying they would trade Miller if they can get big value, and that he's not a cap dump. So they're not going to trade him for 5 cents on the dollars like OP suggested
