And yet Carolina has him at wing and in a desperation ploy traded for Kuznetsov. Luckily it worked well for them. If they thought he was a center, theyd play him there.

I hope he gets better and gets his groove back just dang that's a risky freakin contract and if i were a gm id want no part of that until he shows he can be healthy and productive.

Yeh we want to take our chances with our young cost controlled assets since we are in a retool and utilize our cap resources in a wise manner. We lack center assets and RHD assets. Spending futures and cap to acquire wing assets when you have promising wing assets is silly. Nashville has better places to utilize their assets/capspace.
Evangelista has 15G 18A 33P in 70 Games... which is a 17G 21A 38P per 82 pace which i guess isnt quite 40 points if he continues his current pace.

And? So are you say he regressed? He isnt a consistent producer? I just went back a couple years to where i figured his age 22 year was. His career rates average out to 22G 34A 56P per 82 games for what it's worth
As i said, Evangelista is 22. Nashville just waits and sees what they have in him. It is his rookie season. Beyond him they have Kemell, L'Heureux, wood, Tomasino, Fink, Schaefer and possibly another winger in this draft depending on where we end up in the 1st round. Evangelista made some real big strides in his game over the course of the season and there just isnt any real need or try and speed things along at wing when we have tons of options in our pipeline. If anything, we eventually trade some of those options out to fill our weaker areas (center and rhd).

Necas improves them, Carolina get good young players back for their dynamic winger, where's the issue here?</div></div>
Sitting outside the top 10 with a fair amount of young up and coming talent still moving up the pipeline. Evangelista got 15G, L'Heureux looks like he is gonna be a gamer as well. Nashville doesnt need to get in a big hurry here and mortgage alot of futures to upgrade a wing position. Evangelista is 22. In 21-22, necas was getting 14G 27A 41P in 78 games. Ill just have a little patience with Evangelista here and see what happens with him and our other players instead of throwing away a bunch of futures hoping to speed up the clock by a couple seasons.

WRT Norris ... i just refuse to take to risk that comes with that contract until he shows he can produce and stay healthy. I know at that point he becomes expensive again but also at that point he isnt a complete albatross of a contract.

Yeah nashville cant send their 1 center prospect of note for wing upgrades even if the pricing is fairly reasonable.

You are also trading for exclusive negotiating rights which you otherwise wouldnt have the abilty to even discuss terms with said UFA and get an extension done. Having a year to hammer out a deal adds value

I never do understand the "alot to give up for one year" when someone trades for a ufa. Unless the team is trading for a player with absolutely zero intent of extending the player.... the intent would be to extend long term.
Stolarz has also never played more than 28 games in a single season and only has 22 this season at age 30 (2 years older than saros).. if you want to bank on a career backup suddenly being your starting goalie be my guest.

Yeh kindof my line of thinking. I think Ottawas been playing him on his offhand. He hasnt been great this year defensively so im not overly interested personally but if we could play him on his natural side with Josi then we could get a better return down the road

Rebuilding from the D up
Nashville isnt speeding up the waiver exemption status by trading for wesiblatt. We already have a ton of RW in that 21-23 year old range that we have to deal with (Evangelista, Tomasino, Afanasyev) then a couple younger ones right behind them (L'Heureux, Kemell, schaeffer). He also hasnt really done anything at the AHL level to date so seems like a waste of assets

Not a fan of the 1st being in 2025 tbh. Since with Saros, i imagine that 1st is no longer in the lower 15 which is the allure of the 2024 1st.
Daws doesnt do much for Nashville since we have Askarov but it may not be bad to have another goaltending piece and with Saros/allen/schmid devils need someone to go. Casey is the right piece to get the things started.
Solid offer just not sure about the delay in the 1st. It does drop the overall value for nashville and raises the uncertainty alot but they also already potentially have a 2nd pick in 2025 with tampas and a potential 3rd could be enticing and if things go sideways and nyquist has another banger if a year could potentially get another at the trade deadline....
Not bad. Solid maybe

With Askarov in tow Schmid isnt of much interest
Nashville already has 2 retained salaries next season so they cant do 2 more
So the only interesting things are the picks but the trade couldnt happen either way due to the retentions

The consistent underrating of who Schneider was for 6 years in his prime (arguably the best goalie in hockey, at worst top 3) needs to stop.
Schneider was HIM</div></div>
I dont think people are underrating who Schneider was. Theyre just pointing out that he just wasnt as far along as saros is right now on the development curve when he was traded. Schneider had a real good run in New Jersey. Im not 100% sure what happened on the back end of his career that made his stats dive off though

Thatd be a better comparison. Nashville of course wouldnt be in a position to trade saros at that point with pekka riding into the sunset of retirement and Nashville had no other goalies in their pipeline of note.

Schneider was a good backup with the potential to be a starter, in 2013. Saros is an established top tier starter. There's a big difference between those two things.
A colour TV cost fewer dollars in the 70s, than it does now. It would have been a much higher percentage of the average worker's salary though, which probably means more to the person trying to fit a new TV into their budget.
Personally, I think two years of an above average player is worth less than one year of a star at the same position. Especially when Saros can be extended like Schneider was. To each their own, I guess.
30 games. That's a backup goalie's workload.</div></div>
12-13 was a lockout year so 48 game season starting in Jan. Still surviving half a season under a starters load isnt the same as a full year. The next year he only started 45 games (55%) which is a platoon goalie format before being given full starters load the following season. He wasnt a "starter" at time of trade. He may of been on the way but wasnt there

Sure starter in a shortened season. You can say 63% to make 30 games sound more impressive if you want. But 30 games isnt a full starters workload. It wasnt til the 2nd season in new jersey that Schneider eclipsed a 60 game starters load. He only had 45 games the 1st season.
This will be saros' 3rd 60+ start season. There is no comparison in work load experience

That's alot for nashville to give up and gamble that KK ends up figuring out his offensive game.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Just_A_Guess</b></div><div>Why are we giving up pieces for KK? He's not an improvement on anything we have.</div></div>
He's still very young. Same age as Pärssinen. Just being paid well above what he should be at this point. Id take a game on him but not by giving up novak. That contract will be easier to deal with as the cap jumps over the next 2 years even if his production doesnt change much. Parssinen and a 2nd seems fair to me but im not convinced he is much better than what Parssinen ends up.

When he was healthy this season, he wasnt producing at a rate worthy of his pay and was playing like he was scared of becoming not healthy.

Offseason Series - PREDS
Management/Brunette like Lauzon. I just dont see him getting traded. They trust him with heavy defensive assignments as well.
Dont mind the idea of bringing in chandler. Mainly because Glass has just failed miserably and i feel like he is as good as done after next season
Montour just makes an already expensive defense that much more expensive.
Tomasino wont cost that much. Hasnt established himself as an everyday player. He will be more around Parssinen value.
