i wonder if ur right about the owner doing a lock out. due to gate revenue. that would make huge mess of things. but it could be the only way some of these teams dont go bankrupt. and have to be sold to the league. phoenix florida vancouver. vancouver ownership is already put the lifeboats in the water. ottawa ownership isnt exactly financial stable even before this mess.

IF ur a gm would u rather choose who leaves or risk them selecting someone u dont want selected. most players take 3 or 4 yrs before they become full time nhler if they ever even do.
im thinking about future but it 50/50 i still be here in 3 yrs. so im planning for this season. i want to control the choice. and if i have to give up a piece or two so be it. plus if i have top 6 signed and top 4 signed. that 3rd liner that im giving up prob wont crack that top 6. so best to give him up. and go with cheaper. right ?

maybe ur right about eriksson. but vancouver has much more valuable pieces to lose. im ron fransis im making him give me that 1st or ill offer sheet pettersson or hughes or ill take woo. he is rfa also and rfa dont need required games played just to have been a pro 2 yrs ahl = pro ... woo or cap space + 1st . im keeping woo and giving up the 1st. woo has much higher ceiling then anyone they will get with late 1st rounder.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OlegP</b></div><div>As a Canucksfan. If Benning gives up another 1st rounder he’ll be fired, tout de suite!
Even the JT Miller trade. It worked out well but he didn’t need to give up a 1st rounder in that space of time.
Look at Vegas they accepted a 3rd rounder for Schmidt. As Vegas was desperate to shed salary as was Tampa in 2019.
Benning actually learned something with negotiations.
Eriksson can stay on the books this year.
They are not a contender in 2020-21.
2021 with a year remaining and 4 million in real salary on 6 million cap hit. He can easily be traded to a floor team. Gudbransson went for a late round pick to Ottawa. Same situation smaller real money compared to cap hit. Owners will love that next year especially as more teams bleed money without gate revenue. It should be almost en vogue as cash will be king with many owners right now not willing to play next season without gate revenue as Bill Foley confirmed on radio this past week.
Not once has a 1st rounder been traded this year in a salary dump.
Staal has one year remaining at same cap hit and same salary and went for a 2nd rounder as a sweetener.
There’s no chance in hell That Eriksson goes for a 1st rounder as a sweetener. 1st rounder ELCs are gold in this climate.
The difference between a 1st rounder and 2nd rounder is massive.
You are talking 60% chance of an nhl’r to 25% as a 2nd rounder. Then, the upside is so much greater as a 1st rounder.</div></div>
i think u give benning to much credit for learning from his mistakes. i dont think he had any choice but to let tanev and marky go i think he was given order by ownership internal cap..

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockey_GoDz</b></div><div>i cant see why seattle would want soucy .. if im guerin no way im giving up greenway. and as for the 3 players u mentioned theodore . vegas was paid to take him .. same with tuch and marchy. that was how vegas got smith by taking marchy. florida needed both them off the books. and tuch was giving up along with a 2nd so wild didnt lose one of the defensemen at the time. i agree it will be much tighter with seattle that is why i more cap causialitys in there. teams are gonna give up future over established or high value propects. have to remember seattle is paying huge fee
to enter the league and each team get a nice chuck of that. all except vegas they dont get the money but they dont give up a pick. team will take that in account also. i'm paying 5 mil to pick 1 from ur team. i'll pick the piece u want to give but it will cost. or ill pick what i want. imo the wild dont need to give up anything. and stalock should be fransis choice. i dont think wild will leave greenway exposed.</div></div>
also u have to remember the entry draft comes before the regular draft and the cap can be over by 8.15m right up til the season starts. they could eat 1/2 of brown subban ladd salary and get other stuff .. at 9m subbans value is horrible at 6m someone may jump on him. same with other overpriced but seattle can retain that value for the limited time. and brown at 3m instead of 5.9 would have value to a team that want grit .. ect. this is fun to guess. but if i get more then 10 of these right i ll be totally amazed :)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OlegP</b></div><div>Everything looks good besides Minnesota pick. Why would the Wild not lose a defensemen? if 3 protected? Or lose a forward, if 4 d are protected? Much better goalies available than Stalock!
They'll take Holtby instead from Vancouver instead of Loui and Greenway/Soucy/Dumba from Minnesota.
I don't think teams will give incentives this time after teams like Anaheim lost Shea Theodore, Minnesota lost Alex Tuch and Florida lost Marchessault as incentives.
Incentives will be given from trades outside the expansion like Tyler Johnson from whichever team he goes this season. These other awful deals like Loui Erikkson, Kyle Okposo and James Neal are not possible to trade without giving up too much unless they are given to a floor team like Ottawa
I realize this is an experiment but
Also you are over the cap. Kraken wont go above the floor at expansion. They'll take bad contracts after expansion</div></div>

5 nhl defensemen 2 1st and 2 prospect + 5 RFA defensemen.. best option from the wild is stalock or talbot and i would choose a back up in stalock.
eriksson comes with a 1st .. brown comes with prospect .. neal comes with 2nd and 2nd .. okoposo comes with 1st and prospect .. ladd comes with 1st and prospect.. buried buyout .. further trades with money retained .. using vegas as a model .. tightening it up a lot compared to what mcphee got . R. Fransis knows what he is doing . based on what is available on each team. just guessing. cap will prob be flat again going into the 21-22 season. so some very hard decisions to be made. honestly allen and stalock . seems a good tandem to roll with 2 other goalie that will compete for playing time and 3 prospect goalies in the costs. there . very nice mix of vets and RFA's for 1st yr. then seattle would have some major work to do in the offseason. but should have all but 2 of the vets off the books.
so they can really start to shape the team.

if i was gm for other 30 teams these are the players i would want to give up .. pick or prospect would accompany. most of these players.. some are dumps some are this is not one of my core guys and i can replace this player in house or fa move.. i went with 10 prospects and 15 draft picks over 3 yrs 1st rounders thru 4th rounders.. nothing worse then a 4th 5 out picks from this lot done outright so no extras involved .

i agree not resigning crawford was huge mistake .. now all the 1a and 1b goalies are signed .. stuck with delia and subban .. from the looks of things only 3 maybe 4 left and those are all trades..
fleury . kemper. raanta . reimer.. not great options.. i can think of a way to make most of the fans happy .. seabrook .. 1st and beaudin , soderlund, lankinen . for kemper and oel. getting rid of seabrook is worth it . if he wont wave his nmc ship him to the minors til he does. kemper /delia much better tandem in goal. oel for 7 way better then seabrook for 4. beaudin and mitchell carbon copies of each other. one needs to be in this deal. soderlund nothing special, solves 3 problems. goalie seabrook = 2 problems. oel for the win. smith and shaw. bring in younger cheaper and healthier checkers/pests.

sven is off the books so is sutter. just in time to pay hughes and pettersson . from van point of view .. jb prob wants eriksson off the books.. elder and benn also for next yr .. oel-hughes 1st pairing ??
gonna have to pay seattle a 1st to take eriksson imo ... RF may even ask for more to take him.. so best if he is part of the oel deal.

tanev that is puzzling paycut from his last contract.. hughes partner big void to fill. not to mention the chemistry .. d pairing chemisty is very important..
this is actually ok for both sides .. van may regret oel contract when its time to pay hughes..
