So do we kind of know the price now
This is an absolute joke of a trade...
Rangers are offering a far better package (Kravstov >>> Abramov, Lundkvist >>> Anderson).
Leafs need to give A LOT more than that.

What would it cost
Canucks apparently have a Lundkvist + Kravstov + 2022 1st Round Pick offer on the table and aren't taking it, so you'll have to up that offer A LOT more.
Think Sandin + Knies + 2022 1st / OR / Liljegren + Amirov + 2022 1st as a baseline.

I never said anywhere that it did or did not include a 50% retention. If anything I've been pretty clear that the trade above is just a picture of the assets that could go both ways ("Please note that it obviously won't be all these assets going one way. Just wanted to note all the piece that Frank said are potentially in play" - from my description).
I put in both scenarios in that past comment because apparently you need to be spoon-fed all the information like a child.

If you think Frank is a mouth piece for anyone then I have no interest arguing this with you any further.
He's literally the guy who announced the whole Seattle team hours before it was released.
I get this isn't the news you want to hear, but it is what's being discussed. It doesn't mean all those pieces will be used in a Miller trade, but as it's been reported by many other outlets (Satiar Shah, Lebrun, Brooks, etc) that the 2022 1st and Schneider picks have been discussed and declined at the moment by VAN.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Thanks fo proving my point. Rangers certainly don't want to carry over any bonus money into next season with next years near flat cap. Nice that 4.5m and Lundqvist 1.1m dead cap come off the books, but the Rangers have inked Zibs and Fox to 14m raises alone.</div></div>
So it's really impossible to sign three bottom six forwards, bottom pairing defenseman, a back up goalie for $7M??? (Miller at 50%)
Even at his full cap that's still $4,375,000 for those players.
The only RFAs are Kravstov (who's probably gone), Hajek (probably not getting a big raise), Georgiev (most likely traded) and Sammy Blais (probably not a big raise if any either).
It doesn't take an economics degree to realize that you can make this easily work.

There is absolutely no reason the Rangers would trade their top prospects/young players for a top 6 winger who is signed for one more year. Would probably go down as one of the worst short sighted trades of all time.
I <em>guarantee</em> at the trade deadline Kakko and Schneider will still be Rangers. And Miller most likely will not be a Ranger (doesn't make sense for our cap situation anyway).</div></div>
Literally read this. They have huge interest in him and these are the assets available.

I do agree that it might be a bit early but this is the time to maximize his value for a two year deal at under 1M. Teams are looking for guys like him. He's a huge spark plug and has been used to jump start lines all season. He also doesn't lose puck battles so like seems to be a pretty good comparable, if not better, to Goodrow when the Lighning aquired him.
But also yeah, I forgot that the Isles were so bad this year lol.
Idk, that would be a bit of a sneaky good package for Garland. If you can upgrade one of those picks to a second, I think that's a steal! You get a solid Middle-Six right handed centre who can be trusted defensively and a up-and-coming RHD who has chemistry already with one of your LHD. That address two of the Canucks main deficiencies while adding picks and getting rid of some cap space.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boltsbeathabs</b></div><div>TB has zero cap space and would have to waive 2 of either Katchouk, Foote, Raddysh, Joseph to make the cap space easy pass</div></div>
Hoglander is making sub 1M. They can make it work.

Oh I 100% agree with you. I don't think it makes sense for the Canucks to target Schneider either as Lundkvist fits the portfolio as lot more for the type of D-man the Canucks are in need of.
A guy like Schneider works really we in NYR though since he can be relied on a bit more defensively pair with Nemeth to start.

Lundkvist is the perfect buy low candidate right now for the Canucks.
We are forgetting how amazing of a prospect Lundkvist is. NYR's transition to a more gritty system does not match him at all. Plus they have a log jam at RD and cannot afford to play an defenseman who leans offensively with Fox and Trouba already in the lineup.
Him in Vancouver is exactly what they'd need and he fits what Boudreau wants. Give Lundkvist top for minutes with Hughes or OEL and you will see the dynamic puck carrying defender that the Rangers are mishandling .

Bring JT Miller Home

How is this a bad trade?
Pittsburgh gets a top 10 scorer in the NHL for under $3M for the next two years and a competent D-man to extend their window with Crosby and Malkin. Odds are Rodrigues walks at the end of the year too so there's your insurance policy.
Miller is easily worth a 1st and a top prospect without the retention, and there's been talks about Marino getting moved for a while now.
