This team is really good. I’d love to see them be successful out of the gate. Maybe even take a trip to Utah to show some support.

Doesn’t mean much to me. Getting back the pick for Cuylle was solid, but doesn’t change how I view the Kings. Same as Quick. A cup win is the only thing that changes things for me. Otherwise I don’t care about how many wins he provides.

Irrespective of trade value, I think I’d rather the Rangers cease to exist than to trade with the LA Kings. 2014 was not forgotten.

Still a pretty damn good team for $15 mil in buyouts. Defense, goaltending and wings are set, but do you think Rossi can become your elite number 1 center. That’s the only position I see missing in terms of pieces for a cup winning team.

Team USA 2026
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>2010 Bergeron was coming off a 52 point season that was 21 points below his career high at that point and had yet earn a single Selke vote in his career. He was on a Canada team with Crosby, Old Joe, Toews and Getzlaf. He was in no way a top dog on that team and was absolutely brought in to center the matchup line. Unquestionably.
He obviously had more steam with a couple Selkes by 2014, but still was on a team with Crosby, Toews, Getzlaf and Tavares (not to mention a ridiculously strong defense stable). So still not a top dog, still the matchup C.
In 2006, Zetterberg had just had his breakout season, but the Sweden team had Forsberg, Sundin and the Sedins, plus leaders like Lidstrom and Alfredsson. Soooo not a top dog by any stretch.</div></div>
Should’ve been more clear, Zetts was most definitely a top dog on Detroit, same for Bergeron on the Bruins.

2006 - Sweden (Zetterberg)
2002 - Canada (Peca)
1998 - Czech Rep. (Straka dropped down the line-up to shine in the role)</div></div>
Bergeron and Zetts were still top dogs on their teams. So I wouldn’t necessarily say they were only taken for defensive purposes. That just so happened to be the case with them.

In 2 years he’s only 32. That’s not old. In 2 years, MacKinnon is 30 and Crosby is 38. You’re being unreasonable.

Team USA 2026
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>I find it's generally best to have one legit checking center for this level. This is one area where the US team might have an issue compared to other teams. We don't have that Bergeron or Hintz or O'Reilly or Couts or Karlsson, or even a Thomas level guy, who can drop down to the role for the team. Could Miller play that role? I suppose. Is Lowry good enough to hang in a best v best? Or Copp or Compher or Dowd? I dunno, man.
You have Eichel top line and who knows, he might be forced into playing 4th line. One way or another, there needs to be someone who can keep the McKinnons and Drais and Petterssons quieter than usual. Or at least to not let them run wild.</div></div>
In comes Vincent Trocheck. He’s defensively responsible and capable of playing top minutes with elite players (Panarin every night) and can win faceoffs. He’d be the perfect 4C.

All a moot point now. I think we’re gonna have a tough time in the playoffs if we can’t add another RW and a depth d man.

Guentzel isn’t coming back unless we send Othmann. Honestly as a 40 goal scorer and cup winner, I’d be willing to pay a lot for him, so long as we can extend him. He makes us better now and for the next 4-5 years.

Almost feels inevitable
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aecliptic</b></div><div>Unfortunately for you and many other Rangers fans, you cant use Kakko's age and draft position as leverage in a trade. Kakko has done nothing of any significance in 5 years. Rangers have a 2-3 year window to get something done. To continue to be delusional about the realistic value of Kakko is only going to hurt the Rangers. I would prefer not to trade him, but this team is real damn close.</div></div>
Then if he isn’t worth anything in a trade you keep him as a 3RW instead of creating another hole by moving him. Despite the lack of offensive production he is defensively good enough to be on the 3rd line, no point in trading him when you likely just get someone older doing the exact same thing. They need to move picks and a prospect or two to make that big swing.

Oh boy, that would definitely do it. That’s actually an insane stat. Puts you behind the eight ball in like 25% of games played. Worst part is Korpisalo is signed long term. Might be better off acquiring that Nick Seeler type d man (I know easier said than done).

How was this team not able to perform better with all of that talent. Legitimately confused by both Ottawa and Buffalo this year. Is it coaching? Goaltending? I really thought both teams would push with Detroit in an attempt to make the playoffs.

It’s gonna suck when they do this and find a way to disappoint us in the playoffs. We have learned nothing from prior years if we do this. At least trade for someone 23-27 instead of late 20’s and early 30’s if we are gonna move younger pieces. And then when we don’t win and attempt a mini rebuild, we’ll question where we went wrong all over again like we did last decade.

I feel like an extension would need to be in place for Tampa to consider trading for Hanifin as it’d cost a ton to acquire him.
