<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Knuckl3s</b></div><div>Beauvillier has nothing to do with fixing the back end, I never said he did, so think before you yourself get so defensive. Olofsson is still just a one trick pony, that's why his value is fairly limited. Lastly, Girgensons is such a good leader, why has he only gotten a 1 year deal?</div></div>

Then wtf did u bring up our lack of defensive IQ on the backend like it had ANYTHING at all to do with this???

And idc about Olofsson’s “value”
His 1 trick is a pretty important one- gotta score to win
And he’s not just a PP guy, he’s become MUCH better 5v5

Girgs was signed to a 1 year deal, like Okposo, bc they’re older &amp; we have A TON of young forward talent coming to replace them
But just bc we have better talented youth coming, doesn’t mean they aren’t valued players/leaders on our team
One or both of them may be signed to another 1year deal after this- we are transitioning from their leadership to the next group that’ll take over- Tuch, Dahlin, Cozens
But since Girgs &amp; Okposo are STILL effective in their roles- getting the tough defensive assignments every night- there’s no reason to rush any of the kids into it
*although Krebs &amp; Cozens &amp; Quinn have been growing as 2way players as well- especially Krebs

Instead of acting like u know what’s going on with the Sabres,
u can just ask &amp; I’ll let ya know
You’re clearly making a bunch of assumptions that just aren’t true

You’re way off though, so I’ll make it clear as possible
<strong>The Sabres are NOT looking for forward help</strong>
We are loaded up front, &amp; have more talent coming than we’ll even be able to fit into our lineup

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Affectionate_Side_64</b></div><div>Don't want to get caught up in the Timmins conversation because I can see now it might not be the best fit; this is why I welcome constructive criticism.

With regards to Hellebuyck, any reward that great comes with some amount of risk. The way I see it, you guys have acquired every piece you need to be a cup winner and goaltending remains the only question mark.

Having Cozens and Thompson as your top 2 centers signed for less than 8 mil long term is dreamy. Having Dahlin, Power and Samuelsson as the foundation of your D core for years to come is unfair. Then you add the talent you have at wing with guys like Tuch, Peterka, Skinner (for now), Quinn, Krebs etc.; add further your wealth of blue chip forward prospects like Benson, Savoie, Rosen, Ostlund; tradeable assets like Middelstadt and Oloffson; as well as your incredible amount of cap space and... man, Bringing in Hellebuyck gives you at least 5 years where you're a top 4 team in the leaue in my opinion. That to me is one of those rosters where a cup is just inevitable.

I understand there's risk involved, but in my opinion there's equal risk in not making a move like that as well. Look at Edmonton; if they had pulled off a trade for a player of Hellebuyck's caliber just as they were entering their window it's hard to believe they wouldn't have at least one cup to their name.

Your roster is incredible, it's time to take that next big step in my opinion...</div></div>

I agree in principle
BUT
We don’t just need to take a “big step”
We need to take the “right” step

Hellebuyck is likely good for around half of his extension
If i thought he was the missing piece to a Cup, then I’d agree we should go for it &amp; get him
But even if we got a good goalie, i still think we are a couple years away
Youngest team in the league, and very young at important spots- &amp; young teams are inconsistent af
Plus, in another year or 2, we’ll have more significant decline from Boston &amp; Toronto &amp; Tampa, 3 big hurdles in our way

So if we’re still a couple years away,
how many more years after that can we reasonable project for Hellebuyck to be Cup winning caliber?
2 more, maybe?

And then having him on the books for 4 years after that could become detrimental to our chances of winning the Cup

Idk…..
if we did it, i wouldn’t “hate” it
But i bet i would about halfway through his extension
