Agressive for playoffs 24-25
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>The picks are nice, but not really enticing for a contender, that also has no reason to move Necas. Canes have enough cap flexibility to sign Necas as well as Jarvis and Guentzel to long term deals. Would be great to bring in a player like Buchnevich with those picks, but the Blues are in the same boat with Buch, they aren’t going to move him without a team really forcing their hand.
The package here doesn’t have anything that really forces the Canes to move Necas. 4 magic beans picks outside of the quality prospect realm of the draft and a cap dump, that assuming they develop, won’t have an impact at the NHL level for at least 3-4 years. Canes would be better off buying up Necas’ prime years, having him put up 60+ points, and trade him down the line if the need or the right package comes along.
People can quote the Fiala, ADB, etc trade comps all they want, but they were bought off of rebuilding teams or teams that were entering a rebuild. If the Canes sell Necas, it would be as a contender, and that’s going to be a lot more expensive, especially when the Habs won’t be willing to part with the 3 pieces the Canes would be wanting, since the Habs really don’t have the prospects that would entice the Canes (don’t need D prospects, which the Habs would be most likely to offer).</div></div>
So you're telling me that your team will gonna enough money to resign Guentzel at 9M, Jarvis at 7,850M (salary comparaison of Caufield and DeBrincat) and Skjei at 6M with a 28M cap ??? And that's not include any other maybe resigning for thier deep (Teuvo, Noesen, Pesce). Likely gonna need to be VERY creative, but one of theses four players will likely gonna be gone, and the worst of them is Necas.
Receiving two 1st round pick for Necas it's a lot, teams will not gonna receive that. Also, you have a chance to put KK once again on the map with Armia.

If Kent Hughes isn't able to trade the Jets pick during the Draft, I can see Hughes trading it a make that trade latter in the offseason.
Don't forget the 50 players roster and you can't have more than 23 players on the NHL roster (and don't said that sending Dvorack to the AHL is a good idea.............)

He can bounce-back with the Habs and become a 70-75pts player for few season. He plays also on the Canes PK and he's playing phisycal also.
Big difference between him and Drouin : Drouin haved all the presure on him to perform because Montreal offensive deep was bad.....

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BadaBing</b></div><div>Getting a UFA to sign now with the HABS will be a hard sell. In a couple of years when the Habs are more mature, Hutson, Mailloux, Reinbacher & Roy with a full season from Dach and 2 solid lines we will be able to attract a top UFA to fill a gap. Spending money now will not push the HABS where they need to be. I would wait until 2025 to sign a UFA and better choices. You can pick either Draitsatil, Marner or Rantenen</div></div>
We will gonna have 19M in our cap space next season, and that's if we don't trade away somes contracts. I maked a ACGM with a competitive Habs line-up with like somes Necas, Monahan and Stamkos additions, with keeping Anderson and Gallagher (and traded Armia (50%) and Dvorack away), the cap space was over 5M for 24-25 and like more than 20M for 25-26.

Questions for my fellow Habs fans
Personally, we will gonna need to fix 2-3 things before talking about playoffs.
1st : We will gonna need a young foward who can play in the top 6, and my favorite target is Necas.
2nd : We will gonna need to add another experienced foward in the top-6, but my personal target for that isn't Reinhart, it's Stamkos. He already have a natural connection with Marty.
3rd : we will gonna need a legit 3rd line centermans. That's can't be Dvorack or Evans. What about a Monahan return ??
Also, that's 1000% a bad idea to trade Matheson right away after what Hutson did. Hutson didn't need any more pressures to produce offensively as a Dman. I think Montreal will gonna trade 2 of theses 3 Dmans during the offseason : Kovacevic, Harris and Barron. I can really see a line-up like that for game 1 if we really wants to be in the playoffs mix :
Stamkos-Suzuki-Slafkovsky
Caufield - Dach - Necas
Newhook - Monahan - Roy
Gallagher - Evans - Anderson or Armia
Matheson - Guhle
Hutson - Savard
Xhekaj - Maillloux

Savard decided to sign with the Habs during the 2021 free agency.
Matheson decided to waive his NMC for Montreal.
They both want to stay here.

Maybe add a 3rd round pick in the CGY trade.

Savard has his last year and will be resigned only at a discount at best or if they are in contention for the playoffs otherwise he's gone by the deadline at the latest.
I dont think Matheson is going anywhere, the guy is chaos on the ice, at times, but his skating is just so elite and he will be a ton better when he isnt getting the toughest matchups like in Pittsburgh. MikeyM was unreal on the 2nd pair in Pittsburgh without the big point totals but his metrics were fantastic.
Next season I go with..
Hutson-Guhle
Matheson-Reinbacher
Xhekaj-Mailloux
Harris/Struble/Kovacevic are fantastic cheap depth pieces. Barron (not waivers exempt) needs to go!</div></div>
I think that Reinbacher will gonna take the spot of Savard in the line-up in 25-26, but I think that he can resign a discount contract to stay with MTL.
And where is Hutson ???

I also think that if the Habs were to trade for Hronek then Matheson would definitely be either included or traded in a separate deal and one of Mailloux or Reinbacher would need to be moved as well since they would no longer have an opportunity to make the future Habs D corps.</div></div>
With Hronek, Montreal can have a Dcore like this :
Guhle - Hronek
Hutson-Savard
Xhekaj-Mailloux.

Matheson contract is a bigger steal that what Hronek will gonna receive (vs his real value), and the numbers are little bit higher.
Little bit means a low pick (3rd round or under).

The only way that Montreal can considerate that, is that if Matheson goes to Vancouver in the return. Hutson and Mailloux will likely gonna make the big team.

IMO Zegras is an upgrade on Necas
MTL gets someone for Slaf to grow with off ice as he has with Canadians born with Czech heritage best friends Xhekaj and Kovacevic
The languages are different but not by much like Acadian vs France's Proper French but i digress.
ANA would get to land a massive pot they've been seeking
Zegras Value being down under his new Coach i think lowers his value enough that CAR could chip in and still come ahead on top
Issue becomes is Zegras someone CAR thinks could fit in their system ?</div></div>
I see the Canes using this pick in a package for Buchnevich.

Unrealistic idea 24-25
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>First of all, Canes pass. Say what you want about Armia, he is still a 4th liner. He would only be blocking guys who can have a much bigger impact like Blake and Nadeau. Farrell I think might end up as a decent bottom 9 winger, but once again, the Canes have better wing prospects, at least 4-5 off the top of my head, that he would be taking opportunities from. Those picks aren’t good enough to make up for the lack of quality. Canes aren’t looking for a futures based package if they deal Necas. They would be looking for a top 6 swap or upgrade. As has been said many times before, the Canes and Habs are not good trade partners when it comes to Necas.</div></div>
I understand your point, but I belive that Blake and Nadeau can pass somes times in the AHL : they haved a great season in the NCAA, but I don't really think that they can be constant positively in the NHL. I 100% know that Armia is a 4th line player, but he haves a natural fit and connection with KK (and he can give him confidence in himself).
A 14th overall selection is a lot. Don't really expect GM's makes somes swipe (1vs1), they aren't anymore open with that. Also, don't forget that a 14th overall selection can be include in any trade for other assets who can be a great fit for Carolina.
