<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>While your deal for Henrique may look fair on paper, why does Anaheim take it? We're moving out our 1LW, who we can't replace in free agency this season, and don't have an internal replacement for, for an overpaid bottom 6 with term, a future mid round pick, and a LHD who is probably only middle of the pack on our overstocked LHD prospect pipeline?</div></div>
I get you're point, but you're really digging to get that first round pick out of Henrique. Horvat, Tarasenko, Meier get first round picks, not Adam Henrique. Plain and simple.
You're right, the list if wingers available in free agency next year isn't exactly "sexy" but it's not terrible. The Ducks could easily find someone for that top-six role.
Pens have Puustinen who has been playing both wings in the AHL recently. He could be a nice add for the Ducks in their middle-six. There is just a log jam in Pittsburgh with the top-six pretty much locked up for the rest of Sid's career plus a terrible contract given to Kapanen. Puustinen isn't a bottom-six player, thus no room for him here.

Rutherfords last chance
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>iFishyHD</b></div><div>Would rather keep a 4th liner who we replaced in Sceviour compared to getting a kid who was just picked 3rd overall recently. Interesting strategy to have a million fourth liners with no upside.
POJ is a pretty good skater and puck transitioning defenseman, I can't say I watched many Wilkes-Barre games, but the stuff I have read about him was mostly positive. Hes got a pretty decent stick defensively to make up for some of his lack of physical play. I don't think he will ever be a huge point getter, but he could be a guy who still creates offense through smart plays in the defensive and neutral zone. And I agree that LA would likely buy Johnson out after a year or 2 when they are truly trying to compete again, and Johnsons buyout isn't really that bad at all.</div></div>
Honestly, I'd consider taking a 2nd round pick before I would take POJ as compensation for Jack Johnson.

Sorry, did I say he was better than those players? Must have missed it
I was responding to the point about it costing a 1st to dump JJ -- POJ is a first round pick
Thank you for your input on this topic

Getting rid of Johnson and Gudbranson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>iFishyHD</b></div><div>I think DeMelo has a lot more value than that especially this year on that contract (which naturally Ottawa loves more because of Melnyk), they are pretty much at the cap floor anyway, so I have a hard time seeing them take a ton more cap back unless a team is really paying a lot for it.</div></div>
DeMelo is a RD capable of top 4 minutes making basically league min. Gudbransson is a 6-7 imo, and he's paid like he's a 3-4. ZAR is a 3rd liner at <strong>best</strong>, and he's not enough incentive to make this move.
If I'm Ottawa I want a 2nd minimum just for DeMelo, and more if I'm taking Gudbransson. Anything less you keep Melo and re-sign him. He won't be expensive.

id love this. Adding Joseph makes the 2020 first more expendable imo. I think Fenton would like a first back for Zucker. Jack Johnson is just a hard pill to swallow for them.

I still can't believe that GM JR looked at Jack Johnson and Erik Gudbranson and said to himself "I need to have these two guys on my team".

- ANA is high on Guhle, dont think they move him.
- on point w/ Maatta trade
- Im not a Hoffman guy.. PLUS IMO I think Schultzy is going to have a great bounce back year. Read somewhere that he has been training already for next year bc of being disappointed on how he came back from broken leg.
- I like Miller but a No to Eakin from me, Rusty is too important

I really like the Johnson trade idea however in this scenario I’d prefer them to find a way to get rid of Gudbranson.

In any event where we trade Schultz we should look to get a pick back if he re-signs. I’ve just got this feeling we will trade him out as a rental and he’s gunna kill it for some team for many years :(

I'd do that trade as the Preds, they need a bit of a facelift is after this past season - but if I were the Pens, I'd try Smith with Crosby. He is a fast skater, has a good shot, and doesn't shy away from the corners or board play. His compete level is off the charts. I think we would excel with Crosby.

I do chuckle when people trade Kessel because of age/contract ($6.8M until 34yo) and then do something like give Zuccarello $7M until 37yo. ... and they don't even notice that they are doing it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MadmanFromMadison</b></div><div>If you think Kessel is still great you are a box score watcher. His bad play on the ice outweighs his power play inflated point totals. When you are a minus 20 as a ppg player on a team that had a +30 something goal differential that means that said player was consistently on the ice when the opposition was having their scoring chances (which Kessels xGA, Corsi, and pretty much any other possession metric used point to that assessment being true)</div></div>
Or I just dont care enough to debate. I said my original point about its dumb comparing players that play different positions, and when you compared the players, it makes the trade look extremely lopsided
