stop with the eichel trade this is how its done
I wouldn't take this if I were Buffalo, even though I'm a Rangers fan. They're giving up practically a franchise center for a some first round picks and 1 NHL roster player...in my mind they will definitely want top end potential back, which Rangers have plenty of in their prospect pool. Question is, will the Rangers be willing to give up any of the big pieces like Kakko or Lafreniere, or will Buffalo only get the other high end prospects like Kravtsov, Schneider, Miller, etc.? That's probably where the deal collapses and Buffalo goes elsewhere

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>I think it comes down to Quantity vs. Quality (Which is a very fine line, and is not meant to upset Rangers fans who are pretty high on Lundkvist, Kravtsov and Robertson). To me, if I'm Buffalo, I'm not doing it without Lafreniere being included. Obviously that means you're getting less pieces back overall, but I think I need to be getting someone back that may someday get to an Eichel-type level, as opposed to some lottery tickets.</div></div>
I can see both sides of it. Buffalo isn't willing to lose a franchise piece without getting the potential for one back, Rangers are not willing to move on from their top picks so early. obviously there's no compromise where you can split Lafreniere in half, so we will just have to wait and see which team breaks down first or if Buffalo decides to go somewhere else. Rangers have some great prospects to put in a trade package, but it's all about that bow on top.

I've seen enough of these trades to know that everyone will come crazy at you for not including one of Kakko/Laf. I don't think this is totally unreasonable but not sure where Buffalo would stand on it

Calder top 10 so far
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Penguins_Legend_Sheary</b></div><div>Yes I agree, Chytil was playing really well before the injury. I was looking at the stats & Lafreniere was getting destroyed when the coach put him with a Zibanejad, he just wasn’t ready to face such heavy competition. He definitely won’t achieve anything with bad centers such as Howden or rooney either. It’s a bad situation for him.</div></div>
If Zibanejad was playing as well as last year, we might have gotten different results. but keeping Panarin-Strome-Kakko together seems to be working, so between Mika, Buch, Kreider, Laf, and eventually Chytil, they will have to find some other line to work

Calder top 10 so far
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Byrr</b></div><div>Prospects take time. We have been spoiled by the McDavid, Matthews and Eichels of the past 5 years.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Penguins_Legend_Sheary</b></div><div>I have no idea what is going on with Lafreniere. So many scouts regarded him as this franchise level LW with a similar ceiling to Hall/Nash, yet he’s playing like a bust. He didn’t look ready to step into a top line role and it doesn’t seem like he’s effective in the bottom 6 with howden either.</div></div>
the rangers as a whole have not been playing well offensively. Mika is at 3 points in 15 games, and the top 6 scoring has not had consistent scoring except for Panarin. he (Laf) has played well but nobody on the team can find a way to put up points. I think the biggest factor is Chytil's injury. Chytil was playing very well before he got hurt and gives Laf much more help than howden, rooney, PDG, etc. I'd like to see if the team and Laf can pick up the pace when he comes back (hopefully soon). and to build on your point, Laf is 19. I know stutzle is too but Laf has a little more competition for ice time, powerplay time, etc.
all that being said, K'Andre Miller definitely deserves to be in Calder talk

Would u rather have Laf and Kakko or Byfield and Turcotte
I think it's very hard to weigh in on this considering turcotte and byfield have not played any NHL games yet. all these kids are young and not everyone can come into the league and tear it up right away like McDavid or Matthews.
and when people say "laf is a bust, kaprizov is better" are kind of oblivious to the 4 year age difference between the two.

Horrible night
I'm hoping they're just rusty, the last two periods weren't nearly as bad as the first. The no goal call on Trouba(?) didn't do them any favors, and they took way to many penalties. It was hard to get your normal guys into rhythm when half the game was on the PK. I think Strome finished as the forward with most ice time. But I'm not making excuses; they sucked, period. They're the youngest team in the league, so let's see how they respond. Igor also made some good saves down the stretch, but Georgiev still deserves the start next. maybe we'll try to score a goal next game

eh, to each their own I suppose. I personally would rather stay put with Miller and Kravtsov. especially with the number of Rangers players that will need raises, they probably can't afford to keep Dahlin and all their current pieces long term.

had Jeff Gorton known Lafreniere was coming, I think he reconsiders (or at least thinks twice about) Kreider's extension at the deadline. we have 5 wingers that can/should be playing top 6 (Kreider, Buch, Laf, Kakko, Panarin). starting Lafreniere on the 3rd line is fine for now but not forever...I would also expect Kakko's production to definitely increase on a line with Panarin. if it doesn't...
to return back to the main point, yes Kakko could be more expendable with Laf.

value seems reasonable, but I'm not sure the Rangers would make this trade. at the very least, they let him start the season on the Panarin line to see how Kakko has developed so far. also, I would be afraid of what the trade would do to Kakko's confidence, as well as putting him in a much tougher coaching environment.

All pretty reasonable needs. I think Miller has the potential to be LHD1 in a few years time, this year will be a good indicator of that IF he makes the team to play with Trouba. Kakko could also end up being a top 6 forward. 2C is more flexible, with free agency being a good plan. I guess a lot of what the team does depends on the development this year.

I'm sure he will, but I don't think it's fair to these young players (or any players for that matter) to get **** on by the media for not being an elite scorer right away, especially on big market teams like NY or Toronto
