OVER the cap
You're right, Pittsburgh would be over the cap therefore can not do that trade. Great observation.

In my opinion Penguins hang up the phone. Taking Fleury at full cap hit is a bad idea to start, plus they are giving up arguably their best defenseman on top of that. Not a chance.

Jake Guentzel should probably be here. I would probably have Brett Pesce over Jones just because Jones has had a few bad season although he is a good player.

Trade with NYR
Whats the scouting report on Zac Jones? If he has the potential to be a really good top 4 defenseman I think this could be a potential fit. NYR need another Center that can take the load off of Mika and in my opinion I dont think strome is it. Monahan should be. There should definitely be interest there, just not sure if it is enough going back to Calgary.

Seattle, Read Comment
Islanders pay Seattle to take Boychuck, Ladd, and Hickey. Picks/prospects will be included. Seattle takes 4 goalies as insurance in case something similar happens like it did to Vegas. This team has a lot of cap space to upgrade where they see fit, I felt that this was the best picks. NAK could be swapped for a guy like JVR if they want to go for more of a playoff type team, but due to the forward group available, I dont believe that they will be there quite yet. Defense will be a strength of this team. It is possible that Seattle selects 1/2 more defenseman as trade candidates to try to get a more talented forward group. Lineup will be
McCann-Pavelski-Kase
Wagner-Stenlund-NAK
Girgensons(Possible Trade Candidate)-Appleton-Accairi
Trenin-Sturm-Bastian
Gambrell, Gauthier, Highmore, Erne, and Kampf will be extras/trade options. If Zemgus is dealt, Kampf is likely the best option to fill.
Graves-Tanev
Dunn-Cernak
Bean-Holl(Possibly Dealt)
Fleury, Jones extras. If Holl is dealt, likely a UFA to replace him on the right side.
Vanecek starts, Allen backing up. Hill ahl starter, Daccord ahl backup to start. Performance will be a factor.

It is just the fact the Pens fans don't really know who he is. And you are right it is an awful trade for the LAK.

Pettersson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I think it's going to be hard to find Pettersson a new home, because most teams are maxxed out on the three defensemen that they can protect in the expansion draft. The most obvious possibility is Arizona, but their only two protection candidates are Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Jacob Chychrun, and both are LDs. Montreal is another possibility, and there's also Vancouver, but then you have the quarantine problem.</div></div>
Ya thats why Im curious as to what other fan bases will give up. The holes in Pittsburgh's lineup are obvious at the forward position, so that would be the preferred return but not sure Pens will be picky.

You would honestly protect matheson over MP? There is maybe a .05% chance Seattle would take Mike Matheson solely due to contract. Protect MP over him and Trade MP.

Teddy Blueger
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Richard88</b></div><div>What do you think his next contract will look like?</div></div>
Because he is on a cap strapped team, it will probably be a 2/3 year deal at anywhere between 2-4 million depending on who else Pittsburgh has lined up to sign. Him being out long term this season probably also hurts his contract demands. Him being restricted also lowers his ask. On the open market, he probably gets 4ish million on a 4 year deal.

Zucker for Hall
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>BUF declines very quickly.
Is Hall having a horrendous year? Yes.
But Zucker has what 41 pts the past two seasons and is equally poor this year. 5.5mil is a bad salary to take on for that production, especially since the BUF rebuild needs years. In his career, Zucker has scored 41 pts, 41 pts, 47 pts and one time 64 pts back in 2017-2018. He doesn;t have negative value, but Hall AND retention is worth way more.
5.5mil for 40ish pts a year is not a good contract on a player that injuries seem to be creeping up (especially given his linemates and icetime, his production should be way higher). Good player, but about 1.5mil overpaid and of no use to BUF really.</div></div>
IMHO, Buffalo should take that and run. Zucker, while having a rough year, has been injured as played on a line that has not suited him. Buffalo desperately needs quality with term. They get that in this deal and get an additional pick. Hall, who is having an awful season production wise, is a play driving winger. Also, after watching the game last night, has shot himself in the foot a lot this season. He had 2 turnovers that directly led to Pit goals. Not sure he is worth that package, even with retention.

I believe that this is an offseason post. I am curious as to who Pit protects over MP that allows Seattle to select him.

deadline this year
Do you really think that LAK deal is a trade either team makes? Why would Pit want AA? Look at the season he had last season. He finally found a system where he can be an effective player, to remove him from that before getting a full season could completely destroy any value he would have. Also, why would a rebuilding team like LAK move picks?
As for the Anaheim deal, Grant was already in Pit. Once again let the player play in a system that fits him. Grant, for whatever reason plays well in Anaheim, so go after another depth player.

Teddy Blueger
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Richard88</b></div><div>What sort of return would you want for Blueger instead of this package?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>brgh4life</b></div><div>Yah, that's my point. Teddy is a cheap 3rd line center that does it all. Produces without quality talent around him. Excellent penalty killer and defensive player. He would be a big addition to a contending team, but that team would have to overpay for him since Pittsburgh has no reason to trade him.</div></div>
I'd have to agree. Not to mention he is out "longer term", meaning I really doubt that he is traded this season. When looking for a new contract he will be more likely to be moved but like stated above, he is a perfect 3/4C for Pit as he is able to produce decent numbers without much talent around him and does a lot of the little things that HCMS loves.
