Follow my instructions of doing the math of $13.4 times 5 years to get the joke.

I'm thinking a 3rd rounder or switching prospects

That cap hit next year completely F***s them this and next year Bogosian isn't eligible for LTIR so TB is over the cap. Next year that would leave TB with 14 contracts and 7.3 million in cap space not having resigned Colton or Jeannot yet NOT HAPPENING!!!!

Yes. Johansson, Sheary, Eller, and Hathaway’s departures leave holes in the lineup that we desperately need to fill with youth. This doesn’t even include potential trades for mantha and kuznetsov

I’d take Robertson and like a third for Jensen honestly. Robertson is probably an NHL regular next season or the season after at the latest and he’s exactly what we need - another scoring winger.

Admittedly I was optimistic on Anderson but he sucks… the days of him getting a 1st or even a 2nd should be in the past. He is an average middle 6 player. You could easily sign a guy like Sheary for 1/4 of his $$$ and get better results

I can see that, but I don't think Dubas will want to offer him more than 6 years though. He might still sign that but who knows?
I'll have to admit that I'm incredibly low on ARZ players in general. You might remember me comparing Crouse to Ritchie, but he's gapping him now at least in goals, so I'm less pessimistic about him failing in Toronto. That being said the 4.3m cap hit would still make things incredibly tight next year, and going forward, so there's no room for error there. The fit will have to be great and he will have to produce without failure even if it's 20-25 goals and 60 points. If he can PK then that would be great too, but I saw his card from the off-season and that didn't look great, but maybe it changed.

Sorry to hear that Robertson will be out 6 months after surgery. The poor kid can't buy a break . . . I'm deeply sympathetic due to our experience with Alex Turcotte.

I don't know how you go much higher if you're a GM though. I'd absolutely be trying to hammer that $hittttt out as soon as they're able to though. A year of "Matthews is a pending UFA! We need to trade him for 86 1st round picks!!!", or "Matthews is a pending UFA! Trade him for Tanner Jeanot!!!" threads will be more than I can handle.</div></div>
weird one because like yea, bet you some team would clear the cap and give anything he wanted for 7 years. Could definitely get more than 14M. But to me that sounds like about where the number will land in Toronto. I think him leaving is overplayed and the main reason he signed 5yrs was for flexibility and maximizing earnings.
Lets pray the leafs advance past the first round so he re-signs in the summer and we don't have to listen to crap all year from fans and media alike

Edmundson trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>For those who think Chiarot is the exception and shouldn't have returned a 1st + and that Edmundson won't get a 1st + 2nd, I would like to remind you that Kulak who is a good bottom 4 D man but is no where near the same calibre as Chiarot returned a 2nd a struggling prospect and a 7th. Chiarot's return is on par with a middle pairing guy on a decent contract with retention. Eddy will return better than Chiarot (if he can remain healthy) Expect the return to be around a 1st + 2nd or good prospect. Using Edmonton as an example the return would be 2023 1st + Holloway or Schaefer, if we have to take back cap you can expect to upgrade the prospect to like Bourgault or Broberg depending on the amount of cap we take back (if it's just Foegle then maybe you just add a 3rd if it is Foegle and Puljujarvi or Barrie then the prospect is upgraded)</div></div>
I will admit, i may have overreacted. It is possible a 1st could be involved, but I doubt anyone would give up a 2023 1st for him. And NONE of the prospects/young players you mentioned would ever be involved, especially not along side a 1st round pick.

Don't know if you can count, but 84 to 214 is much much better than 6 to 69. Rielly is also a pure offensive defenseman, while Edmundson is a "shutdown" defenseman. You're just hurting your own argument.

Notwithstanding you're over cap.......
I see that as an overpay. Buchnevich is great, don't get me wrong, and O'Reilly is the kind of 200 foot player I would target..... but for 3 really good prospects and a pair of 1sts? Ouff.
More harm than good imo.

I had Kulak going for a 3rd. He went for more w/ a 2nd.

I had Chiarot going for a 2nd and a 3rd, Went for a 1st, 4th and a prospect.
So yeah maybe you should live in this reality not your own delusion of what is real and what isn't real. It amazes when some like you never fail to gaslight with ad hominem attacks.

And the 2022 draft was not great, the 2023 draft is considered on the strongest draft in a while. Teams will be more reluctant to trade those picks this year. All those players were having good seasons. Can the same be said for this players this year, no a d with a deep draft the odds are slimmer. Not living in fantasy land but in reality and situation at hand. Times are not the same from year to year.
Charoit having record year, can you say the same for Edmunsson?
Armia is a cap hurting player not some the same as AL
Dvorak is nice 3rd line player but is not worth a 2 d and a good defenseman and the JP may have legs because neither players is anyrhing good and Hoffman may have value if he stays on ltir.
