The More Likely Columbus Target
Kukan even with retention could probably be had for a 3rd round pick at worst and his price is honestly closer to a 4th/5th even in a market hungry for defensemen. As a jackets fan I would love for him to fetch a second rounder tho haha

you seem pretty upset for someone who doesn't want him on their team. 38 points in 35 games. Would rather have that than spend $10m/yr on 33 points in 79 games

We might. Depends on the return. This isn't far off, imo. Add a good prospect, and we're peachy.
Could also do the ol' third party broker. AZ could take some on, essentially buy a mid-rounder or something
Other CBJ folks could disagree, though.

Really bad offer for Roslovic.
SDA isn;t a great prospect and the picks are late round. Its not just about what you'd offer, its about what they'd accept (want/need).

Next Season Oilers
Hmm. For the Jackets, we trade a young, developing player we really like who plays at a position of desperate, overwhelming need for the roster, in order to add a declining 30+ player to a position we have an abundance of excess at. Well, gosh, doesn't that make perfect sense, amirite?
Was there any thought given to that Jackets trade at all?

Gus Bus
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jb246810</b></div><div>He has really found his game since the Christmas shut down. Not necessarily playing to a $5.5M contract yet but he is consistently contributing now.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Saskleaf</b></div><div>Has Gus been pretty good lately? Last I heard he was struggling.</div></div>
Guy missed an entire year of hockey, so the start of his season was an admitted struggle. He's really been playing well lately - completely agree, not $5.5M well, but I think he is an excellent M6 option.
I'd be cool with this. I also wouldn't mind Knies in place of Amirov. Generally, CBJ just need a young, high prospect who can spend a few years developing while being waivers exempt. Next year, with Johnson, Marchenko, and others coming, F spots are about to become limited.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>armer918</b></div><div>Switch Gus to Domi and we have a deal!</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Yari</b></div><div>Imagine Domi and Roslovic for the leafs bottom six </div></div>
I mean, watching CBJ games, I still believe in Domi's higher-end ability moreso than Gus. They've had largely flipped seasons so far - Domi was almost a PPG guy the first 20 games or so, then he got injured/ COVID, whereas Gus was almost invisible the first 20 games or so, but has turned it on since.
But, if ya'll want to replace Gus with Domi, it makes little difference to me. Only true difference is Gus has two years of control, whereas Domi is expiring. I expect CBJ to trade both either way.

Texier
Actually, his play has been at its best since he was moved to the Robinson-Kuraly line. That is part of the reason why his game has hit a new level this season.
Aaron Portzline wrote about it last month: https://theathletic.com/3045465/2022/01/01/how-alexandre-texier-has-awakened-his-game-and-become-one-of-the-blue-jackets-best-players/?source=user_shared_article
Honestly, a trade package would have to include a Newhook-level player, because the only way Tex gets moved right now is if someone overpays. CBJ still hope he can turn into a C, but still see his worst-case scenario as being a damn good winger.

CBJ trade
Gavrikov probably is worth a 1st and decent prospect on his own. Korp not worth more than a 3rd imo. To dump Koskinen and Turris likely costs a 2nd/3rd. So the above trade should be something like 2022 1st, Tyler Tullio, 2023 2nd/3rd

Way too little.
Cbj aren't moving Gavrikov, and as bad as Korpi has been it will cost to move from Koskinen to Korpi for cap purposes solely.
I'm not even gonna post what I think cbj will ask for bc Edmonton fans will attack me, but gavrikov is extremely valuable to the org

Jackets would need a massive overpay to move him. I'm talking massive. He plays too big of a role on and off the ice. While this could potentially be his value, I do not see them entertaining this offer.

Undersized center that will likely be shifted to wing. Probably peaks as a decent 3rd liner. He is not a main piece for a player like Werenski. Werenski and his extension would probably cost 2 of Clarke/Turcotte/Byfield along with a 1st as a base

You have to pay to clear cap space, that is what a cap dump is.
