Curious to hear from Leaf fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Salzy</b></div><div>Ive seen multiple reporters and insiders say the exact opposite of this. Lindholm is supposedly the Leafs #1 target right now</div></div>
Yes I've seen that report too, but I can guarantee you that Dubas isn't offering a top draft pick choice and top prospect for him (which he should). They may be wanting him, but I don't think they're ponying up the right offer that ANA deserves. Thats why were linked to Middleton in SJ. Cheap, and less expensive to acquire

I would say:
Sandin
Robertson
Niemela
Knies
Liljegren
Dubas has mentioned already that he has no interest in moving top prospects (I think he has learned from his mistakes with Marchmant and Barabonov) or top draft choices, and with the Chiarot deal that unfolded yesterday, I think ANA will be looking for more than what Dubas wants to give up, so I think TOR is pulling out of his sweepstakes.
Friedman even reported that TOR may look to bring either Knies or Abruzzese (maybe both) up to the club in April as the NCAA clues up very soon, so the intention is clear that TOR doesn't want to move their prospects.
Other than that, if their intentions were reversed and they had intentions of moving prospects, I think this trade proposal may get Lindholm/Deslauries

A star center who will never get an opportunity to play top minutes with Barkov signed for 8 years and Bennett for 4.

For a 2024 1st and 2023 2nd, the Flyers are not gonna want to be waiting 2 years for their 1st round selection, so theyre going to want top prospects.
Trade deadlines are buyers season. Overpayments are gonna happen all the time during the deadline

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sabresguy1987</b></div><div>Are you sure the leafs are willing to part ways with Axel? hes pretty important to the team moving forward</div></div>
Yes, we got some pretty good RHD prospects already in:
Timothy Liljegren (on roster)
Topi Niemela (top 5 prospect)
Mac Hollowell
William Villenueve
The chances of Axel playing in Toronto any time soon (in the next 3 years) seems unlikely, and where the team is looking to win now, we have a prospect pool that has value to move to gain assets we need.

Yes. Leaf fans can't deny that Phil was our best player during our worst years, and it was unfortunate that he played here during that time. If you were to take 2011-12 Phil Kessel and put him with the likes of Matthews, Marner, JT, and Nylander... your probably looking at a 100 pt season for the guy. But now, he's slower, he's getting quite older and I don't think Toronto feels the need to bring him back. We got a lot of scoring as of now, and adding somebody like Brandon Hagel would be better in the sense that Hagel plays similarly to Bunting... mean, agitative, hard nose, drive to the net style of player, and he pots quite a few goals by doing so. His speed is a bonus.
Toronto's main focus (IMO) will be to find a top 4 defender and a middle-six scoring winger. They will be looking for term more so than rentals to, as the Foligno trade last deadline has haunted Dubas, and thus they arent to keen on acquiring rentals for top prospects/picks

Hes only 22. This is his first year in the league. Yeah he's not good enough now, but if you don't give them opportunities to grow, they wont grow at all.
I see a Brodin-Spurgeon 2.0 pairing in Sandin and Liljegren in the future

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jco5ta5</b></div><div>In my opinion, if Hawks would agree to two prospects of this caliber plus a first, I’d want 2 offensive prospects. Hawks have about 12 D prospects they think can all make the NHL. Adding a 13th isn’t as helpful. I think realistically Hawks don’t trade Hagel but for the sake of ACGM, 2 offensive prospects of this caliber + 1st is reasonable.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IconicHawk</b></div><div>I’m a little concerned about Robertson’s medical records I feel like saying no to this deal but at the same time with the off chance Robertson does stay healthy this could be a steal</div></div>
I figured that. Ive spoke to a couple hawks fans and Kokkenen was a player of interest (strangely) hence why I have him in the deal.
I also understand the concern for Robertson as well, but I think he's just been hit with bad luck recently. He plays really similar to Hagel.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MapleLeafsPhanatic</b></div><div>I don't think Kyle specifically said that this year. I know that was the idea last year but lets be honest, his job is on the line so I think if a deal for Forsberg is there and it takes Robertson to get it done, he will pull the trigger. The prospects mean nothing if you can't win a cup.</div></div>
No but like Forsberg, Foligno was a bag of injuries. Toronto does not want to take that chance of bringing in somebody that you'll only get for 25-30 games and potentially another round 1 exit. If that happens, not only did you NOT go any farther in the playoffs, but you lost assets to help you in the future, plus the rental.
Dubas wants term for top prospects and picks. So if a big LW player were to come to Toronto, it'll be J.T. Miller. Not saying it will happen, but Miller is the better option, as he has term.
Hagel is also a good option, and will be a bit cheaper, and exactly who i'd want

Leafs said that they are not giving up any top picks/prospects for rentals. Although i'd like to have Forsberg, they wont do this because of that reason.

They actually parted ways last year. But it was just confirmed. Hinostroza started his career in CHI and is from right around where I grew up actually. I've always liked him but he has really taken some big steps this season. TOR is probably gonna have to find depth from within or overpay to bring depth in from outside because they are gonna be cap strapped for a while. Plus free agents on good teams are always going to be commanding more money so you'll have to find cheaper replacements. Watching Dubas manage TOR is fun though. He has pulled out some pretty slick moves to keep them rolling along and even improve the team.</div></div>
Dude, I cant tell ya the stress level I get when Dubas is rumoured to be cooking up a deal. We never know who he is targeting. Hes such an analytical GM, and plays by statistics, which many aren't familiar with. Itll be intresting what deal he pulls off next. Couple More Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigShoots</b></div><div>Liljegren would be of interest from the Canucks. Maybe Liljegren, Amirov, 1st? for Schenn and Miller 50% retained?</div></div>
Id like that, If Schenn was a better puck mover. The problem we got is that Muzzin needs a guy who moves the puck well, but can also defend well too. Liljegren is young, and he's gonna learn and I think he could be that guy in another year or so. Lyubushkin was brought in as a bottom pair physical presence, with shutdown ability, and although the leafs like mean players, we already got one in Lyubushkin now. I think at this point, TOR is going to be looking at a guy with term but one that doesn't require retention, like Brandon Hagel in CHI. As for defense, well... that remains to be seen. My guess is that they're also gonna be looking for a puck moving defencemen with term, whose RH and has a cheap contract + term.
I liked the idea of Schenn before we got Lyubushkin, but I don't think its a fit anymore!

Yeah im noticing a lot of going's on's over there, just seen that Bobby Hull was removed as Ambassador. But I speak for some leaf fans in saying that we like Hagel a lot. Kokkenen is a very quiet yet solid defender over in the finnish league. He'd be a nice depth piece for ya'll in the future. I believe he's only 20 or 21. We'd like to gain a 7th back as we don't have one for next year, and Kokkenen would be the incentive to get it. Bit of an overpay but Kokkenen wont have a future with TOR.

Never mentioned Engvall would be a trade candidate. Having him as the 12-13th forward like Dzingel adds some depth.
However, this trade is a sign that Dermott be soon out the door. I dont think Toronto plans to keep Liljegren in the minors
