I think garland is worth a late first. If it was two 2nd rounders tho I would absolutely do that trade

Could work, but we have so many offensively inclined D men. Hughes, OEL, Bear, Rathbone, even Myers is better at offence than defence. Id rather just get a 3rd and draft a d man that can hit and throw hands.

some more trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Here's the problem I see with all of the recent Thatcher-Demko-to-Los-Angeles trade ideas:
Demko was horrible this year, almost undoubtedly due to his injury. When he returns from rehabbing that injury, and plays the last third of the season, one of two things will happen:
1. Either he will display his earlier form, in which case why would Vancouver trade him; or
2. He will not show any improvement, in which case why would Los Angeles want him?
For sure, Los Angeles won't be doing this before the trade deadline, ergo, before the end of the season, because there won't be enough time to see how well Demko has recovered from his injury.</div></div>
If Demko returns to form and plays 2-3 months of really good hockey this year, I still think trading him would be good. Especially if a Demko trade involves getting a young RHD like Durzi. Demko will be useless to this team for the next 3 years as we "re-tool". In his prime form, at least he will benefit a playoff team on a decent contract. I would much rather have a good D group than an elite goalie. The canes are an amazing defensive team and currently winning while Rantta and Kochetkov have been in net and I wouldn't consider them close to elite goalies. Goalies can be picked up in FA, and we have Silovs developing in the minors too.

yeah, he is the worst of the three pieces. Maybe he can find something in VAN, but if not Raty and the 1st is still good, way better than losing Bo for nothing

Would've been nice. If this happened Horvat would have been re-signed probably though, which is still better than what we have now.

Fact, deal with it.</div></div>
It really isn't a fact because Raty is still very young and the 1st could be an excellent player this year in a deep draft, or could be a top 15 pick next year. More likely a mid pick this year, it will hard for NYI to tank with the addition of Horvat and how **** the bottom 12 teams are. At the same time it could be a 32nd pick next year. Too early to tell. Also if Beau plays on a line with Petey he will probably have a significant increase in point production, we could then trade him.

yeah this is spot on. I just think its funny when a fanbase says one of their players is untouchable and then the player is traded. Just getting a little payback for getting ripped to shreds for suggesting Raty trades.

Kerfoot, Abramov and a 1st Rd and 3rd Rd pick.
Kerfoot has 200 points in over 400 games (just like Beau), Abramov (a early 20s C still learning the North American Pro hockey), 1st and 3rd Rd ( would equal the NYI's 1st Rd)</div></div>
lol what! Abramov is 24 yrs old with 5 NHL games. Raty is 20 yrs and potentially has a much better future. Kerfoot is 28, Beauvillier 25. Also leafs 1st will be much later than NYI's. The package you suggested is pretty much scraps. Raty, Beauvillier and 1st are not 100% gonna work out but its a lot more value than kerfoot abramov 1st and 3rd

that's why I said supposed untouchable. Ive heard NYI fans say Raty is untouchable countless times. I personally don't think anyone in this league is untouchable. There's a price for every player. Raty is a good young player, but I'm not super high on him, although I really like this trade because we finally got a return of picks/young players. The first decent return in years.

that package for Petterson is rock bottom. Lafs 1st OA value is being diminished day by day, id say he has a mid/late first round pick value at this moment. Petey has elite value, on the level of guys like Tkachuk, Marner, Robertson. A return from the rangers would look like Laf, Schneider, 1st round pick, Chytil, something ridiculous like that.

Canucks full rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles5513</b></div><div>Translation: “Nobody wants your bad contracts.”
Doesn’t make sense for anyone to take on the Miller deal without receiving a significant asset in return. Probably would need to take back a bad contract in that scenario too.</div></div>
He would be hard to move but he isn't even close to the level of negative value. He is still a good asset at 8 mill. I could see him moved to a contending team but its just that most teams are capped to the max right now. We would have to take back a decent sized contract in a hockey trade but there is no way you'd have to give up a pick or prospect to move him, if anything you would get a pick/prospect in return for Miller. He also has a full NMC for the first years of his new contract, that's why it will be near impossible to move him after this year.

im not sure if any of you noticed but Horvat is also in the deal... Hischier is an amazing 1C/2C but Horvat is also an extremely good and useful 2C, although 5 years older. Hughes is undoubtedly a top pairing top power play defenseman. NJ can easily re sign Horvat, and obviously keep Severson with Marino gone. Their d core would be Hughes-Hamilton, Siegenthaler-Severson, Luke Hughes-Nemec, the nastiest defence in the league. I think in terms of value this trade is decently fair. Obviously with their current winning situation this deal wouldn't happen but u cant deny having all three hughes brother on one team would be a spectacle to watch. Imagine watching the power play with Quinn, Luke and Jack

I actually think this deal is pretty clearly lopsided in NYs favour. Yes Miller has an 8x8 deal, but he would bring a lot of offence and grit to a team that should be in win now mode. I think this trade benefits both sides because for the 4-5 years that the Miller deal actually is worth the value, VAN is probably just gonna waste it by missing the playoffs and being mediocre. NYI has the potential to cash out with this trade by making the playoffs multiple years in a row. I think Raty is good but lets be honest he is nothing incredible with 0.5 ppg in the AHL, definitely a piece that could be moved. This trade is a risk for VAN but we need prospects and cap space.

everything looks good except the Eichel and Chychrun trades. Both trades were not even reported or even speculated. What is more realistic is us trading Miller for the supposed rangers offer of Chytil, Lundqvist and 1st, which allows us to give Horvat the 8 yr deal. There was also a reported ask from the pens for Rathbone and a 2nd for Marino which would be an upgrade on D.

such a good team. Id probably remove Pavelski, Tuch and Terry, and replace them with Kane, Gaudreau, JT Miller/Keller/Debrincat. Rather see the best players rather than trying to get chemistry from NHL teammates.
