I like Iafollo. Great 2 way and a pain to play against. I would rather move a d like Schmidt but realistically may not be possible.
But the above is reasonable especially if Chychrun extends

Lol, good luck on Vilardi
I could see a Lucius (Barlow?)/Roster player/1st kinda deal working.

Price of Monahan by The Fourth Period
Zero use for Monahan. He’s a bad fit as he’s not good defensively and the same can be said for his 5v5 play. On a contender he isn’t a 2C and would slot in the 4C spot. I cannot see Winnipeg giving up any significant piece for Monahan.
Might some GM in the hot seat overpay? Sure. After all Montreal fleeced Florida for Chiarot, but those don’t happen on a regular basis.
Chevy very rarely ever loses a a trade and usually pulls a shocker that no one sees coming out of his hat more often than not.

Hughes Presser
McG is probably the most untouchable we have. Future captain and an absolute beauty in the locker room.
Jets have zero use for Monahan, he’s bad defensively and 5v5. He’s good on faceoffs and would be playing 4th line. He isn’t worth giving up any significant assets for.

Jets don’t want Monahan. He’s bad defensively and not good 5v5. He would absolutely not fit into the system and he’s not worth us giving up a 1st. Pawn him off somewhere else

I don’t think Toronto has the goaltending or the locker room to pull off a cup.
Winnipeg and Vancouver may very well be the best chances for a cup in Canada depending on this TDL.
Call me crazy, but I could see Crosby waiving as a pending UFA for one run on a deep team like Winterpeg.
We are deep, have great defence and one of the best goaltenders in the league. Only thing we need is a 1B/2A centre.
Colorado doesn’t have the assets to land Crosby, unless he was to demand a trade to them only, which would be selling Pittsburgh down the river in regards to trade value and returns.
Dubas would be a fool not to at least entertain a trade. Hell, even Gretzky was traded.

deadline maximizing value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Andy_Dick</b></div><div>Matheson is worth more to Montreal (and most teams) than a late 1st and Barlow. He's been a top 10 defenceman on a bottom feeding team with 64 points in 90 career MTL games, 233 SOG, 25PPP and only a -2 on a horrific goal differentil team playing 25+ mins on average in every situation vs teams top lines and top PK with David Savard.
They aint taking a cap dump and dumping the top center rental at the TDL as well for nada. Bad opinion from the comfort of your couch in Winterpeg.</div></div>
Good for Matheson. You guys can keep him then, cause he isn’t worth 2 1st round picks. The valuations are way off, besides, neither Matheson or Monahan are upgrades on what Winnipeg already has.
We are already near top of the league in defensive metrics and I would really only want to target a T4RHD who fits that mold and a T6 defensive C who would slot into a 2C role on a contender, and Monahan ain’t that!

Jets decline hard. Huge overpayment to dump 1 year of Schmidt, who is actually playing well this year. He’s definitely not playing at the level of his cap hit, but not enough to waste those kind of assets to get rid of him.

We would have a better chance at Pulock. Dobson would be untouchable. He’s at a PPG clip and will be a cornerstone player for them for years.
How’s about 1st/Lucius/Heinola for Pulock?

I find it odd that Habs fans think they can milk a 1st and good prospect from a contender for Monahan, then I see a proposal like this for a young, impactful, contributing player who is still on an ELC for a pick a bottom pairing DMan?
Given the pick offered here is 9OA, the difference between Monahan and Mercer is wwaayyyyy bigger than the difference between 9OA and a late 1st rounder.
Try harder

Zero interest in Monahan, especially for a 1st. Often injured, not a great skater, poor in both defensive and 5v5 play. He is good at faceoffs but he doesn’t suit what the Jets play this year.
Montreal “may” get someone to overpay, but it won’t be Chevy, he normally grinds out trades in his favor.

Again, keep him. He isn’t worth nearly what some Habs fans think he’s worth. Chevy has proven time and time again that he won’t be taken advantage of. I have no doubt he will pull some ****ing rabbit out of his hat on a deal that no one saw coming.
